A lovely break

Arrived on the 8/10/19 and stayed for a week. On arrival we were greeted at the gate by Andy in the pouring rain. The site has plenty of space so we were not pitched too close to one another. Plenty to do in the area. Bus route in and out of Oxford very good. Thanks to Andy for his local knowledge and his recommendations to the local pubs. A clean and tidy site with good water facilities and CDP. The only disappointment was the weather which Andy could not help!! Looking forward to returning in the Spring.

Fab CL loads of space great host

We stayed three nights mid week and had the site to ourselves. Directions were spot on and Andy met us at the secure gate. His enthusiastic and informative welcome was superb and only matched by the availability of where to pitch. Water and recycling all close to entry/exit and a good info sheet supplied. EHU spread round the site allowing pitching anywhere. Quiet and peaceful with occasional motorbike noise. Our dog loved the open space Good bus links to Oxford and elsewhere and Andy has fantastic local knowledge. A great basic CL in a good location

A Real Gem of a CL

Stayed here for 2 nights mid-week to break up our journey down to the New Forest from Lincolnshire. A very spacious grass site, with EHU. The owner, Andy, is a lovely fella. He is very knowledgeable about the local area, and his enthusiasm and friendliness shine through. We spent most of our full day there in and around Dorchester-on-Thames, which is a quaint place. Will definitely return - so many places to visit in the area. Thoroughly recommended. Dan & Sharon Apps.

Great CL

Well, when it comes to writing reviews, I think it comes down to two headings, (a) Factual information (b) Personal opinion. So to address the first category, I find that there is little that I can add to the two previous reviews, both accurate in their description of this great site. The site is huge and offers plenty of choice of where you set up and having done so, you get a real feeling of space and privacy. The toilet emptying point is purpose built and easy to use. The water pressure is good which makes filling your containers very swift, a good thing when it’s raining! With regards to the other reviews. I’d like to add that Henley-on-Thames is 20 minutes away with two National Trust properties in between, Nuffield Place (the home of William Morris, Lord Nuffield) and Greys Court, a 16th century mansion. In the other direction towards Reading is Basildon Park. For those with a serious shopping habit, Bicester Shopping Centre is half an hour away. So, personal opinion next. Andy is an excellent host and spends lots of time with all his guests imparting his local knowledge and enthusiasm for the area in a very friendly manner. That’s it really, only to add that we will return and highly recommend this CL to all members. Good luck Andy

Fantastic find

Needed site within easy distance of Abingdon and Burcot Brook Lodge was ideal. Lots of space and peaceful site, ideal for a retired couple like us or for a family giving plenty of room for children to play without being near other outfits. Good for dogs. Qiuck call to Andy when about 10 mins away resulted in him greeting us personally and showed us where things were and the gate code. He is knowledgeable about the area...wildlife,places to go and local pubs. Liked it so much we have already booked a return visit in September. Ieuan and Pam

Ideal for visiting Oxford

The very helpful site owner, Andy Ashby, has established a good CL on approximately 3 acres of flat and well drained grass that is regularly mown. The 16 amp electric supply points are well spaced out to provide maximum space between units and the site is protected at all times by a locked gate with a combination padlock. Currently there is only one drinking water point, located just inside the site entrance but there are plans to provide another more central one very shortly. The chemical toilet disposal point is also just inside the entrance. TV and mobile phone signals are excellent. The site is in a rural location, with easy access but is only 8 miles from the centre of Oxford. The Redbridge Park & Ride, which is a short drive away, offers easy access into the city centre. As previous reviews have pointed out there are many opportunities to see a variety of wildlife on the site and I would recommend it for anyone intending to visit Oxford and other places such as Blenheim Palace, Woodstock and a number of other picturesque villages in the area.

A good CL

An enjoyable 4-night stay with blue skies, red kites and rabbits in abundance. The CL is a large and level three-acre rectangle of well-cut grass with spaced out electrical points along one side away from the local road. The CL is screened from the road with shrubs and established trees and overlooks a large adjoining field that also has established trees and leads to the Thames. There is no immediate access to or view of the Thames from the CL. The local road from Burcot into Dorchester is relatively quiet. Dorchester, where there is a small co-op, and its Abbey are delightful and can be reached easily on foot or even quicker by bike. The small Abbey museum which is free and the Abbey tea room/garden are a must to visit. The Thames footpath is a short walk across fields from Dorchester and can be explored in either direction over any distance which is a highlight of the area. There are bus connections to Oxford and elsewhere but we didn’t use them. The owner – Andy – was very friendly and met us on arrival with a combination code for the gate. He was a mine of information on the local area. We would definitely use this CL again.

A very well run CL

We stayed at this lovely CL for 6 nights in Early June 2019. It's easy to find if you follow the directions in the sites directory. You are asked to call the owners mobile 15 minutes before arrival. This lets the owner, Andy, get to the access gate so that he can open it for you, and give you the code for the combination padlock. Andy is a really nice, friendly guy, and is happy to share his wealth of local knowledge too. The field is large and mostly flat, and the EHU's have been updated to 16amp this year. There are many places of interest nearby, and although there isn't an information shed, Andy is always around, and he can give advice on many subjects, from historical information, where to eat etc. We would definitely recommend this CL to any member.

Great Site in a beautiful area

Lovely spacious site with easy access. Andy was very welcoming, meeting us at the gated entrance on arrival. Provided lots of useful advice and history on the local area and had also arranged some excellent weather for our stay. Many thanks Andy, we will be back.
