Simply the best!

We stayed on this huge, flat site for 8 nights. It was our first visit but I certainly won’t be our last. The owners, Nicky and Andy were really lovely: helpful and accommodating. Great advice was given by Andy about where on the field was best for morning or afternoon sun. With so much space, even with the full complement of units we felt as if we were alone on the site. The chemical emptying facility was always spotless and easy to negotiate. The fact that the site has a key code to enter makes it extremely safe. It is in a great area for exploring, and both the buses and the park and ride which takes you into Oxford are close by. (6 miles to the latter, 10-15 minutes to the former) and you can use your senior's bus pass on both. Dorchester is only a mile away and had many pubs and cafes, and the fish and chip shop in Berinsfield (1 mile) is the best! The local pub was great and walkable too. All in all, I would recommend this CL to everyone, whether you want strenuous bike rides, city visits, quiet riverside walks or simply a sit in the sun outside your caravan,

What a fabulous site

We stayed here last week for 5 nights…what a fabulous CL . So much space and a lovely friendly welcome from the owner . We had a great time walking parts of the Thames path with our dog, lots of places to stop for a drink and something to eat…….it was so so convenient for us we drove less than 50 miles all the while we there . There is a little Co-op in Dorchester on Thames for provisions……. We will definitely return to do some more walking

A superb CL

This is a first class CL. We stayed for five nights in early December to visit the area and had a very pleasant stay. Nicky met us at the gate having asked us to phone when we were near and made us very welcome. Access from the north or south is easy as the site is just off the A4074 and the turn in from the Burcot to Dorchester road is straightforward. The field is large and flat with good 16amp power and two water points. The waste disposal arrangements are modern and easy to use. The position in relation to Oxford, with a nearby bus stop, and with the rest of south Oxfordshire on the doorstep is ideal for visiting the city or touring this interesting part of the county. Andy and Nicky are very kind and helpful with abundant local knowledge. It is no surprise that they have quite a following. We will be back!

Another great CL

First small bit of advice:- after leaving Abingdon and travelling EAST towards the Compass Inn it is above 6/7 miles so don't worry. This is another really nice very spacious site which is well kept by a very friendly and accommodating couple. The pull in onto the site is long enough to take a long outfit while waiting for your hosts to open the gate for you. If you like really top class food try the Compass, it's not cheap but it is very very good. There are also excellent watering holes in Dorchester a pleasant walk away.

Another great stay

We enjoyed this lovely CL so much when we visited earlier this year that we just had to return, this time for an 8-night break. Lovely countryside location yet very easy access to Abingdon, Dorchester and Oxford. Nature all around including the mew of the kites overhead, the gentle tapping of woodpeckers, the sight of geese in flight, it’s all there. From the warm welcome to the fond goodbye we enjoyed every minute and look forward to returning. As the Club’s advertising says about CLs this one really is a “hidden gem offering picturesque solitude away from the crowds that are exclusively for our members.”

Stayed 6 nights. Enjoyed every minute

Booked last minute & were lucky to get 6 Nts. Easy access to site through security gate, we rang Nicky when 10 mind away & she stood at side of road to help us locate The field is enormous and pitches were so well spaced, a real bonus Nicky gave us a typed up potted history of area & answered lots of questions for us, then left us to set up We are members of NT so plenty of places to visit, also visited nearby Henley & Windsor Castle We ate at local pubs on a couple of Evenings (one ok & one not) but maybe we were unlucky Husband said water & chemical waste areas were very good (not all are) and whole site was kept tidy Both owners never intruded on us but on the occasion we saw them, extremely friendly Yes there is some road noise but just a drone during the night & I am an extremely light sleeper Do g hesitate to come here

Lovely friendly site would definitely recommend

Lovely flat really big field loads of room so no need to be too close to any other unit of you do not want to be. We had a great 4 night stay was welcomed by Nicky so helpful and friendly nothing too much trouble and gave us some really useful local information. 2 Water points one each end of the field and of course the bins and toilet disposal. We also met Andy a couple of days into our trip again very friendly and helpful and if you are interested in the local history of the area he is your man. he told us some fascinating history of the military and nonmilitary facts of the area. If you like wildlife there are Red Kites and talk about Watership Down fun watching the rabbits on their daily play usually early evening. Even though the site is next to a road it is not a busy road and you are not aware of any traffic noise. If you do not want to use the car or take out the motorhome access to the local bus service is ideal we did not take the Motorhome out at all just used the busses. A 10 minute walk takes you to the bus stops and the X38 X39 &X40 busses takes you straight into the city center of Oxford and they run about every 30 minutes. At the local stop by the Checkers Pub the bus takes you into Didcot they run every 2 hours. Dorchester on Thames is a 20 to 25 minute walk from the site depending on how fast you walk for any fans of Midsummer Murders. For extra information a taxi from Dorchester to Wallingford costs £14 the local pub the George Hotel even phoned the taxi for us Wallingford is a nice little place market on a Friday and a lovely pub right on the banks of the River Thames for lunch or a drink. Thanks to Nicky and Andy will definitely visit again.

So much room

We recently stayed here for 3 nights. Very large, well kept field with clean, modern facilities. My husband was particularly impressed by the quality of the CDP! Red kites frequently seen flying overhead. Lots of room for children to run around safely without disturbing anyone. Easy access and well located for going to Oxford, Reading etc. Only downside for us was the road noise at times but we do accept that we are very fussy so don't let it put you off. We will use this site again.

Lovely CL Site

Stopped for one night on way down to Winchester, loved to have stopped for longer in fact we will be going back, as it’s one of the nicest cl sites we have stayed on, a beautiful flat level grass field with. Plenty of room wildlife and birds everywhere, and very friendly and helpful owners,Nicky and Andy. Not far from lovely Dorchester.

One of the best CLs we've ever visited!

A large, flat well cared for field with masses of space. There are ample EHUs, and the facilities are immaculate. Within easy walking distance of beautiful Dorchester, good local pubs and, very importantly for us, convenient bus stops. The owners Nicky and Andy give a very warm welcome and are helpful with founts of local knowledge. Definitely a site to visit again.
