Excellent CL

We stayed here for 3 nights and found it to be an excellent CL. The facilities were very clean and the shower was good. The pitches are flat and well spaced. We enjoyed seeing the young pigs in the field (don't worry - they're not smelly). We attempted the walk to Skipwith Common but went the wrong way somewhere, nevertheless it was a pleasant walk. Apparently you need insect repellent at certain times of the year! It is quite remote - I don't think there's a nearby bus stop. Fortunately we had friends locally to take us out as we don't like to take our motorhome out again once we're pitched up. The outlet centre on the A19 is excellent (in normal circumstances) and worth a visit.

A little peace and quiet.

I booked here initially to meet up with a friend to do a bit of geocaching in the area but for her vehicle difficulties scuppered that so I was on my own for a lovely bit of relaxing. The site is spotless. Very well maintained. I received clear instructions via email about a week before arrival and upon arrival there was a sign with arrival details and instructions of where to pitch. I was the only one for the first night so had my pick of the site. Nice and flat and well drained. The facilities 1 separate toilet and sink and then a separate bathroom with toilet sink and big shower separated by an information room selling a few local produce, with honesty box. these were all spotlessly clean and well maintained. It’s extra for hot water but I found that 60p was quite enough for a lovely hot shower, there are some lovely walks around the area that are all listed in the information book found in the information room and it’s a great place to be based for a trip to York. The owner wendy is on hand for if you need any info about anything and is absolutely lovely and welcoming. As at the farm kitties. But a warning. If you feed them then they own you for the duration of your trip. Lol I found this out on the first night and was greeted every morning by kittie cuddles. All in all top marks for this lovely little cl and I’ll definitely be back

Peace and quiet

Friendly owner to greet us on our arrival. delightfully quiet site surrounded by sheep. EHU and water very close by each pitch. Easy drive in to York Park and Ride. Site is very flat and well drained. The cabin housing the loos and shower is clean and well maintained. We would rather have paid an extra amount per day for hot water in the cabin than feeding a meter - and this would have given hot water to the handbasins after using the loo. Lovely site and we hope to visit again.

February amidst the floods

Just coming to the end of a superb week away at the end of February 2020. Much of the country has been battered by storms and there is widespread flooding. Riverside properties in York are under water so when Wendy suggested we could pitch on the grass I was dubious. We had after all picked out Field House farm because it had hardstanding pitches. Also only having 2wd didn't want to create a ploughed field effect. However Wendy was right. The field was well drained and the grass short so despite the deluges there was not the slightest amount of slippage or sinking. Indeed been padding about the field in ordinary shoes, packed wellies not required!. We use our on board facilities so didn't use the excellent looking shower and toilets. No wonder this CL has won so many awards and the friendly owners so many friends and repeat bookings. All for very reasonable pitch fees. This is not our usual area for our holidays but I suspect we will be back. Thanks for making us so welcome.... John and Miranda

Back again :)

Another wonderful holiday cant thank Wendy enough for the work she puts in. A top class site immaculate luxury shower loo and hand basin in one room. An extra loo and wash hand basin so never waiting. Excellent information room better than some tourist information we've used around the country. Chutneys, jams etc to be bought. Best of all to eat fantastic fresh eggs. Yes we love this site so peaceful but with it's close proximity to the park n ride into York best of both worlds. We definitely will be back. Jude n Peter

Super-duper site

What a lovely CL! We've just spent a long family weekend here in lovely surroundings and almost total silence - we really didn't want to leave. It's so peaceful on site, the facilities are spotless, and even after a day of very heavy rain the site was well drained. The Park and Ride into York is only a few miles away at Fulford, so it's a great place to set up camp. We had an excellent Saturday night meal at The Drovers Arms in Skipwith and a lovely walk on Skipwith Common on the Sunday. We've come home with several jars of Field House chutney, marmalade and jam, so are now looking forward to trying them out. Access to the site is very easy, Wendy is very welcoming and lovely to chat to, and provides all the information you need in the lovely log cabin. The sheep are lovely and Ollie the cat is just wonderful. He spent most of the time in our awning and I would have loved to pack him into the van and bring him home! I'm going to miss him, but we're going to book for next Spring, so I'll look out for him again then. All in all this is now on the list of our favourite little sites - and we're so pleased we found it.

EXCELLENT SITE

We have just spent a week at this perfect cl site. A very quiet and relaxing site with just the sound of the sheep and a few moos off the two cows. The pitches are a good size, the site is spotless, toilets and shower are kept immaculate. Wendy is really welcoming and nothing is to much trouble. The only downside was we had to leave to come home. Would recommend to anyone who is planning to visit this area, to stay at this fantastic site you wont be disappointed.

Fantastic Field House Farm

We’ve just spent a week at Field House Farm, that’s been our 3rd visit there. This CL is an absolute gem, a lovely quiet site that’s easy to get to. The site is on a small working farm and Wendy and Stu the owners make you feel very welcome. There’s a luxury log cabin which houses the bathroom and also the information room. If the hens are laying then there are fantastic free range eggs for sale as well as some lovely jams and chutneys. We are already thinking about our next time visiting there.

Another lovely peace stay !

We have just spent a week here it is so peaceful and clean ,you can be sure of a friendly welcome from Wendy , the pitches are a good size no wondering if your awning will fit here , grass cut regularly ,toilet/shower& toilet kept spotless, the only real noise is from the sheep and chickens and this is a lovely gentle reminder that you are in the country and they don't wake up too early. We will certainly be returning again and would recommend this site to anyone who likes peace and quiet. If you want to go into York the park and ride is a short drive from site along with a designer outlet . the fish and chips at the fish & chip shop in layby on way to park and ride site are really good , & freshly cooked for you.

Great CL near York

We had the pleasure of staying just one night (sadly) at Field House Farm CL recently and it definitely lived up to it's reputation. Very easy to find with all the excellent information sent prior to arrival. As we were in a motorhome we pitched on one of the hard standings but the grass area looked very inviting. Spotlessly clean shower and toilets and an information room full of useful local knowledge. We particularly liked the information folders...so much so we will be introducing them to our CL information room too!! Good TV and 4G signal and the WiFi worked very well. A very quiet and peaceful site which we would definitely use again if visiting York as it's situated in a very handy spot for the Park & Ride. Wendy was very welcoming and the site is an absolute credit to her.
