Very pleasant and well-organised site, but...

I booked this CL having read so many reviews rating it as excellent, and having been impressed by the website marketing, so had very high expectations on arrival. Certainly the setting is very pleasant and spacious, and the facilities cabin is excellent, though having the toilet and shower combined caused some waiting. The online booking system seemed very advanced by CL standards, so we were a little dismayed to see more than five outfits on over the weekend. The CL is listed under York and marketed as such, but is much nearer Selby, and we only found the area north towards York to be enjoyable. Though Skipwith is an attractive tidy village, we did not particularly like Skipwith Common, with its disused airfield runways amongst the rather decaying woodland, and unappealing industrial areas beyond.

We adored this site. Quiet, friendly, immaculately clean (especially the luxurious shower and toilet), great facilities for the dog. The eggs are absolutely delicious. Plenty of places for walking and cycling. Overall a definite winner with us.

A gem of a site!

This is the best CL site we have visited. The toilet block is luxurious and the whole site is spotless. Owners extremely helpful and nothing is too much bother. Within easy reach of York and other tourist attractions. Will not stay anywhere else if in this area again.

Yet another visit to this fantastic site

Like many others that have visited this site it is always a pleasure to return, time and time again. The facilities for adults are great with all the peace and quiet you want and enough space to ensure you can either be a 'loner' or gather with others that are visiting. Wendy, Stuart and especially Hannah are wonderful people only too willing to help in any way possible. Having just completed my fourth visit with granddaughters in the middle of lambing season it can only be said to have been a fantastic time. Why this site has not been declared the CL of the Year I cannot imagine, it definitely gets my vote.

Fabulous but dont read any more...

.... like many other visitors to this CL we would like to keep it a secret!! Situated just north of Skipwith on the way to York with a level area for caravans, a dog walk paddock, chickens roaming free and spring lambs just born this has to be one of the best CLs in the network. The shower, toilet, washbasin is situated in a wooden building and is spotless, worthy of the best hotels facilities. The owners are friendly and very welcoming, it helps that they too are club members, they understand what we want!! Some lovely little individual touches and we will be back so long as its not full!!! Please leave room for us. CL of the year?? - definitely in our opinion!!

Excellent ( A 2015 CL of the Year Contender! )

Having read the other reviews, there is little else to be said. A great deal of effort has gone into establishing this site by Wendy and Stuart who both know what it takes to make a great CL, they deserve every success. They have  my vote for CL of the Year!  Looking forward to returning in the October.

So good, we already booked our return!

What an excellent site this is, we have had 27 holidays on 25 CL's over the last nine years, from Cornwall to the Scottish Borders and Pembrokeshire to Norfolk, and we both believe this is the best site we have stayed on! Wendy, Stuart and Hannah are excellent hosts, the site is level, access is easy and there are a number of pubs within 5 miles with menu items under £10, which is important to us as we always eat out. It is close to the facilities of both Selby and York and it is really quiet. The 'shed' in the corner of the field boasts a shower, sink and toilet worthy of a four star hotel. If you have children, there is a play area and also a cleverly designed 'treasure hunt' which our 3 year old granddaughter enjoyed when they visited (especially the lollypop reward for completing it!) We spent a week here in March and have already booked a two week return in May!
