Excellent - just, excellent!

This review has been a long time coming (I do apologise). I stayed here for work during the cold, wet winter months in York and I can honestly say I have never stayed on a better campsite. Wendy and her family were warm and welcoming and the farm was incredibly peaceful. Fresh eggs from their chickens are available to buy and homemade jams, preserves and chutneys available for purchase too. An abundance of info is made available to you on the surrounding areas and local activities. It was lovely to be greeted by the sheep when I arrived home from work and I enjoyed my Sunday’s bird watching from inside my caravan. All amenities are top notch, grey waste, chemical waste and water easily accessible and the toilet/shower cabin was always sparkling clean. I would whole heartedly recommend this site and I will defiantly stay again if I am up that way. Thank you very much for sharing your farm with me.

One of the best CL's

We have just stayed on this site for 5 days and would say this is one of the best CL's we have ever stayed on. The owners are helpful and friendly, excellent facilities best I've seen, free range eggs available. Dog exercise area. Spacious pitches. TV reception brilliant. Would recommended to everyone.  Booking online easy to do.  Will definitely be back again.

Great CL

This is a great CL which is kept to a high standard by Wendy and Partner. The pitches are large and even after the recent poor weather were firm and well drained. There is a hardstanding which you can book. The booking system is easy and your sure to get a response from Wendy. Whilst we were there a second drinking tap was installed, so improvements are ongoing. If I had one gripe it would be that the shower in the immaculate bathroom is too complicated for a metered shower! Your time starts as soon as you feed the meter so strip off first! HappyPlenty of brochures in the info room etc. Dog walkers are well catered for with an enclosed walking area. The main gate is locked at 2100hrs. Wi-Fi (at a cost) is available and worked well. We ate out at the Drovers Arms which we thought was a little Pseudo London and pricey, not at all the traditional Yorkshire we were looking for, the beer wasn't that good either!

Brilliant CL

Our 2nd visit and will not be our last !. Lovely owners, roomy level pitches, excellent hook ups, heated spotless facilities (soon to have a second toilet added), plus a hot powerful shower at 20p per 2 minutes, hard standing if required and the grass ones seem firm/dry no matter what the weather. Brilliant !

A Little Gem

A little Gem Though we are relatively new to caravanning we have been campers all our lives, young third generation. This site ranks as one of the very best we have stayed on over our many years of camping. The toilet and shower facilities are excellent, very clean and well kept. The pitches are all level and have good drainage. A wide variety of attractions nearby. Skipwith Common less than a mile to the south supports a wide variety of wildlife with a small lake at its centre and has well marked routes through the woods for walkers. The Trans Pennine cycle trail, which provides a safe cycle route all the way to York, runs 2 - 3 miles to the west of the site and is accessible via a pleasant ride through Skipwith Common to Ricall. There are a selection of very good pub restaurants within a few miles of the site. An excellent Thai Restaurant in nearby Escrick and a highly recommended Indian Restaurant in Ricall.  Special mention for the owners, who run the site like a well oiled machine. Nothing has been too much trouble, accommodating us at short notice when we had to bring forward our first stay (we have been back twice since) due to a family crisis, laying on a nature trail and an impromptu Haloween Trail for our grand children on two subsequent visits, not sure who enjoyed these the most the kids or us and the list goes on. It really is a little gem of a site, great location, lots of nearby attractions, tranquil and relaxing and run by genuine heart warming people.

What a Gem will be going again

We have just returned from a 2 night stay and to be honest wished we could have stayed and were sad to leave. We were welcomed as we pulled in to the drive and shown where we could pitch, we had booked a hard standing which was perfect. Wendy is very welcoming and friendly, she made sure we knew where everything was and were settled, she really did go the extra mile organising a Halloween Trail for the few children on the site, they are also allowed to use the swings, slide, playhouse and trampoline in the garden. The toilet block is really nice, warm and clean. The site is a short drive <15minutes to the Designer outlet where you can get the park and ride in to York city centre (cost us £5.60 in total for 2 x adults 1 x child). All in all a wonderful, quiet site with good walks and close enough to York for shopping, we definitely look forward to visiting again.
