Perfect stopover on way to Cornwall just off M5

We stopped here as a half way point to Cornwall. Perfect location just off the M5. Great site with lovely views and really friendly owners. Looking forward to staying again on our way home. Would definitely stay here again next time we come down!

Covid19

Stayed here stopover travelling to Cornwall. Noisy sure road noise from motorway and building works close by. Very disappointed that no hand sanitizer available anywhere on site would have expected dispensers by main entrance as have to unlock gate to access, exit site. Not even any at CDP. Perhaps owners not heard about the Pandemic.

Disappointing, even given limitations imposed by current constraints due to pandemic

We arrived to a very lukewarm reception from the girl in the office, after receiving comprehensive instructions for our booking made weeks earlier I guess we were expecting at least a smile. We were allocated a site that was occupied so I called her from the site and explained that ours was taken but the one next door was free should we just drive onto that. No she said, she would look into it and call me back, 10 mins later we are still hanging around waiting so I called her. Oh yes she says go ahead, like she was doing us a favour. I asked where the grey water should go, several times. Clearly she didnโ€™t seem to understand what that me want and thought that was the chemical toilet disposal. I gave up. The view is a field. Other reviewers seem to think there is something attractive in that...compared to what? A brick wall? Then sure..but a lovely view..not really. Then the nail in the coffin was the traffic notice from the motorway. Iโ€™m pleased for people who โ€œit didnโ€™t botherโ€. Its not what I like to to hear when away in our motorhome. The power worked..the water tap worked

Hard standing too small

Easy access from the motorway and you shoiuld expect motorway traffic noise and the local traffic helicopter at times, but acceptable when on a journey. There are no photos of the hard standing pitches on this web site. It looks like the hard standing area has been added in the existing grass areas. We stayed during early January and a very wet winter so far. The hard standing is too narrow and the width of the caravan causing 2 problems 1. You step out onto the grass and during this wet winter not good as it is then muddy. 2. The track in front is soi narrow that when you reverse in or drive out you have to go i nto the mud the far side and the caravan also is in the mud as the hardstanding is not wide enough to swing. We could have been in trouble without a 4 x 4! Looking at the second CL area they have the same problem appears to be there. There is a good dry hard trackfoir walking the dog down towards the woods but expect the footpath in the woods to be very muddy. For a small dog we did not have to go into the woods. Great pub retaurant the Masons Arms just up the A38 and very reasonable prices.

Lovely stay at Hortham Farm CL site again

It's always a pleasure to come back here. Quiet and rest guaranteed....and loo fluid on hand in the shop too!๐Ÿ˜€ We are using it to research local family history this time...but we've stayed here for events in UWE before and it's close proximity to both M4 and M5 plus A38 is great. Coming back next month for more adventures๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

Second and third visits

We use this site for the proximity to Bristol and access to M5 and M4. We stayed for one night en route to Cardiff for a wedding after visiting our daughter in Bristol. We then stayed a further 2 nights the following week whilst helping said daughter to move house. The site is easy to access from M5 and M4 and although there is a hum of traffic it is not disturbing (and we live in a very rural area with no road noise). The site has electricity so if you have a shower unit you can stay there for longer periods although we probably wouldn't do more than 2/3 nights in a row. It's half the price of the city centre site in Bristol and yet only 20 minutes drive away (less if little traffic). The Bowl Inn in Lower Almondsbury is an acceptable walk away (don't be put off by the hill down and back) and is a delightful period pub. We will definitely try the food next time. We have booked this site at short notice which gives us maximum flexibility when visiting our daughter. We will be using it again and again as the access is easy even if you arrange to turn up after office hours. Would strongly recommend it.

Twilight at Bristol Zoo

We revisited Field View for a weekend of birthday celebrations for a young family member, that commenced with a Twilight at Bristol Zoo visit. The CL is well placed to get into Bristol with ease on a busy Friday evening, unlike the journey from home. Arrival, getting in and pitching (not to the peg) is quickly completed with the continued improvements made by the owner. We pitched across the back of the pitch, cos you can with such big pitches overlooking the field. Awaking after a very late return to have breakfast in the sun on a quiet pitch is great. The pitches with their maturing screens of bushes have enhanced this CL. Bristol Caravans is on the farm and gives an opportunity to get an honest conversation of new Adria caravans without the sales bull so often prevalent in the caravan/motorhome industry.Great to see the ongoing investment by Oakleigh and the team into the site. Perhaps on closure of Baltic Wharf eventually, an opportunity to develop a full site with the CAMC, there's a thing, do something different!! We will return, it's convenient for family visits to Bristol if we cant get into Baltic Wharf.

Good experience

This was our first stop on our way to a three week tour of Wales in June 2019. Being close to the motorway was both an asset and a drawback. Very convenient for an overnight stop, but aware of constant motorway noise in the background. Still slept well. Very good pitch; large flat and private. Good organisation on arrival. We would definitely stay here again if we needed an overnight stop in the Bristol area.

Over night stop to Cornwall

Used the cl for one night on our way to Cornwall. We weren't expecting much but we're very pleasantly surprised. The site was so easy off the M5. Check in was smooth and the pitches were all individual bays with hedges separating that were full of birds singing. We expected to be able to hear the M5 but to be honest it was only a gentle hum. There was some noise from the road during rush hour. We will definetly use this site again and probably for a longer period with Bristol and Bath so close. Y
