Road access is an issue for a Caravan with mover.

Was booked in here with a Caravan until I read reviews on road access so we asked to cancel after having paid, and to their credit they provided a refund and we went elsewhere. But we did visit in the car to check and the potholes on the access road would have caused us damage to the mover and underslung spare wheel. The owners are aware but unable to reach agreement with the businesses to repair the road as not owned by them. I think campervans would be ok but not caravans. We did not stay so cannot comment on anything else but wanted to make others aware of the access challenge.

Graveyard

Booked this site on the reviews and photos. I visit this area often. Not the best un adopted road. Check your suspension. This was Halloween weekend. Perfect. If you want to be spooked. Totally empty. Left to days early and went to another site. Kennels and lawnmower company next door. The only plus. The WI-FI.... Sorry but give this a miss. If you want a basic basic hook up. Only 7 bays. Fresh water and waste facilities. Give it a go. A disappointed visitor

Abandoned and Annoyed

No-one greeted us, in fact saw no-one from Tues.-Fri. Had issues re water so tel. but no-one answers. Pitch 5 had no drinking water tap and caravans were connected to others. Site is in need of maintenance, as water pipes are fallen/discarded and left in a hedge. Noisy from early morning dogs barking and constant noise from trailers back/forth to adjacent businesses. Most certainly not tranquil. Unmade access road is a disgrace. Generally visitors shocked at being ignored, yet you charge a premium for a CL? Go somewhere else, until owners have sorted water, given the place a makeover and sorted road surfaces. It has a lovely garden next to it but no-one to explain whether you can use it!

Definitely NOT a peaceful location

Second time we have visited this site and most definitely the last! The entrance road has deteriorated considerably and poses a real risk to your car, caravan or motorhome. Surprising as it would be so easy to change the access to come via the Anglia Motors business next door ( which I believe is under the same ownership). When we visited last year, we were still under covid restrictions so the lawnmower business was fairly quiet whereas ,this year, the mower company is fully in action and boy is it noisy. The sound of mowers didn’t bother us at all; it was the delivery vans screeching to a halt, seemingly feet from the caravan site and the continuous shouting and bawling, which seemed totally unnecessary. The dogs barking at the local kennel didn’t honestly bother us but the tractor / forklift truck being used at gone midnight, along with the headlights shining across the caravan site for 30 mins, certainly did. Avoid at all costs; there are some lovely alternative CLs nearby.

A perfect CL for Sheringham

This is a great CL a lovely walk to Sheringham. A few routes via the woods. We stayed on pitch 2 the approaching road isn’t great but all the local residents seem to manage and taken slowly is fine. We also walked to West and East Runton and Cromer. You can hear a little noise from the kennels and the mower company but it wasn’t too much and really no different to noise made by other campers on busier sites. Great value for money for water electric wifi and lovely walks. Already booked again and this will be a regular stop for us when we’re in the area.

Think again!

We have stayed on this site before, but our brand new caravan was damaged by falling branches from a tree on pitch no. 5 We have stayed on another pitch too, but this week we stayed on pitch no. 1 and we had forgotten about the incredibly bad access road. The bumps caused our jockey wheel to dislodge. On site, the quest for peace and quiet is crushed immediately. There is a mower company next door whose employees seem to relish in the noise that revving their engines make. They also speed along through the field in front of the site, even on Sunday evenings. There is also a dog kennels next door which is very noisy. Added to that there is a construction site headquarters on the other side, equally as noisy. At present it isn’t possible to walk through the woods into Sheringham as there is danger from fallen trees. The position of this site has a lot going for it, but unless you want to gamble your car and caravan on the access road and be prepared to put up with incessant noise - I would look elsewhere.

Lovely CL - shame about access road

We have visited twice now. We feel the access road has deteriorated since last visit. Very poor 50 yards of offroading to access CL. Did not enjoy dragging my new car and new caravan over this. (However did not seem to bother the locals or other caravaners we spoke with). Also noticed continuous transit vans and lorries during working day - constantly delivering items to the lawnmower dealer next door-was a bit off putting. But all went quiet at 5pm! However - would we return? Possibly - as the site itself is lovely- and the walks through the woods are nice - all in - give it a try - but bring your 4x4! PS we had a good TV signal (antenna needs to be vertical 😉).

Note to self - always read reviews before booking

Good points: location excellent, 5 minutes drive from Sheringham. Lovely field adjacent and views down to the coast (no sea view though). Wildlife around included a tiny deer which ran in front of me whilst sitting outside the van. Pitch 3 is undoubtedly the best pitch and we were fortunate to be on that pitch. Pitch 5 is under trees and never sees any sun. Pitch 4 is ok but no views. Pitches 1& 2are hardstanding for non awning motor homes really. Bad bits: *. The approach road is shocking. The CMC sign is hidden by foliage and very easy to miss. * This site is far from peaceful. Constant noise from very early morning until 5.30 pm - farm and off road vehicles, and worst of all construction traffic. Construction of ?? Adjacent to the site means relentless heavy machinery noise. The only time this stops is on a weekend. The nearby dog kennels is intermittently noisy - some days no barking and others constant. Take earplugs or you will get no sleep. *. WiFi although supposed to be free was not working for the first four days. *. The waste, bins and Elsan point is in a poor position next to pitch 1 when it would have been a lot better on the unused spare pitches at the entrance to the site * TV reception shocking £16 a night is too much for this CL and should be reduced, at least until the construction is completed and to take into account the lack of WiFi. Perhaps this is why the owners never put in an appearance and if you have a problem you have to go to the business next door. Would we return - no.

Should have read more reviews!

On a positive note this CL is in a beautiful spot, has good level pitches and easily accessible wastes. But peaceful it is not! There is construction going on next door and we were woken before 7am by reversing beepers and lots of shouting. The lawnmower business next door also starts tuning and testing at 8.30. Vehicles from this business also drive through the CL at times. It is only about 20 minutes walk to town but there are no signs and many paths...more info at the site would be appreciated. Also wasn’t keen on having to book specific pitches without seeing the site...we changed once there as fortunately there was only one other booking. Wouldn’t stay again...which is a shame as the location is good. Won’t be as bad once the construction is finished but there’s still the business next door

Good CL

We were on Pitch 1, the only available when we booked. Nice sea view. Slightly sloping pitch. The noise from next door didn’t bother us and we didn’t hear the dog kennels others have found difficult. The walk through the woods into Sheringham takes about 25 minutes and is more than the mile in the site description. Maybe the Owners know a shorter route, as it’s a bit hit and miss what track to follow! Would use site again. No physical interaction with Owners. Good for dogs.
