Gem of a site

Back from another lovely week in the vans with friends. First time for years on a CL, very impressed. All fully serviced roomy pitches, quiet, peaceful and secure site. Near to A46, but didn’t bother us, only faint hum of traffic. A very well kept site, large grass areas and information hut with lots of info, stuff to borrow, books magazines etc, even chairs, which we took advantage of to sit in shade. Lots of places to see around, Whisby Nature Reserve, Lincoln. Dropped lucky for hottest week of the year, just spoilt by rain all day yesterday and this morning. Had a very relaxing time. Thanks hosts Nicola and Richard, we will return

Excellent CL

Great site in a lovely location. Ideal for visiting Lincoln and the surrounding area. Super pitches and brilliantly managed by Nicola who sent away two relaxed campers after the stress of moving house. Many thanks for your help and already looking forward to our next visit.

Outstanding CL - PERFECT !

A very well run CL that should be seen as an example for others to aspire to. Nothing was too much trouble for host Nicola who obviously works very hard to ensure her guests stay is as comfortable as possible. Everything is thought of, even the heated information hut with free DVD loan, books etc. even give away free polystyrene cold boxes ! Thank you Nicola - we look forward to seeing you again.

Great CL

Returned from this great CL a few days ago after staying for 8 nights over the school half term. The fully serviced pitch is a welcome bonus, as well as the information hut, secure entrance gate and wi-fi. The site is immaculately kept, and although road noise can be heard from the nearby A46 it was not loud enough to be an issue. Ideal location for touring Lincoln. The cycling was amazing. Plenty of space between each level pitch and easy access to the site. Lovely welcome from Nicola. Will definitely be returning as more cycling to be done!!!!

still a great site

We first used this site in 2015 and it was a great site then we are still using the site now and with the installation of the service pitches it is even better. We visit Lincoln a lot and always try to book this site which sadly is not always possible so book well in advance. keep up the good work and hope to see you again soon.

Very useful site

We don’t often use the same CL regularly, as we choose an area we want to visit then choose a CL fairly central to it for, often, a 10 night stay, to thoroughly get to know the area. This was convenient on this occasion as we have friends in Gainsborough & Whinthorpe and we wanted to revisit the area south of Lincoln where I spent my teenage years. As OH is an RHS qualified gardener, we also look for nurseries in the area and can heartily recommend Pearson’s at Collingham! A bit further afield is Pottertons near Caistor - winners of a Chelsea Gold! It may be a while, but we would not rule out a return visit to this CL. There is a distant hum of traffic from the A46, but it is a regular hum and disappears as you screen it out. Nothing like as noticeable at night. We visited mid March and were, understandably, requested not to drive on the grass. Apart from Pitch 5, which we were on, this can present a problem with a longish outfit with an awning - no room for a car, although I’m sure the owners wouldn’t mind if the car was left offsite (no distance away - but check where first - it is a working farm & blocking routes is not appreciated!) Clearly this problem only arises in wet weather conditions, outside of which the grass can be used. WiFi has good coverage although it took a bit of work to log an iPad on. We don’t have the facilities to make use of the services direct, although it’s extremely convenient not to have to trail any distance with Aquaroll or wastemaster! We’ve used the odd CL without serviced pitches, where the owners have provided a length of pipe to drain waste water into a ditch behind the pitches (into the drain provided in this instance). Just a thought, to cater for those who don’t normally seek serviced pitches and don’t have the wherewithal! It’s only a short distance from EHU supply to van - we were surprised (horrified?) to see a couple of outfits leaving the cable coiled - a potential danger - that’s how electric fires work - heat created by passing electricity through coiled wire! (Sermon over!!) Certainly Skybarn Farm will remain on our list, not next week, maybe not even next year, but .............!

Comment from CL Owner:

Hello and thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review….it was lovely to meet you and your wife and hear about your past connections with the area.  I hope you don’t mind my addressing a couple of points you raise.  Firstly, there is no problem accessing any of the pitches in wet weather.  You are quite correct when you say we request visitors not to drive on the grass with their caravan attached or with a motorhome as this is a sure fire way to get stuck due to weight issues. However, we are quite happy for cars to be parked on the grass at the side of the pitch all year round thus leaving room for an awning on the hard standing.  I’m sorry you had a problem logging onto our WiFi….you should just have to enter the password provided.  Finally, we would have been more than happy to loan you piping for your grey waste if you had asked us.  We state in our site information leaflet (provided prior to arrival) that we are very approachable and friendly and visitors only have to ask us if they need help with anything at all.  Once again, thank you for your review and I hope this has cleared up any misunderstandings.

Lovely relaxing site

Just returned from a lovely relaxing weekend at this great cl. It was a pleasure being there. The pitches are all hardstanding and fully serviced which is a bonus. The owners are very welcoming and friendly and have thought of everything that caravanners will need. In the information hut there is plenty of information where to visit, places to eat etc. There are books to borrow and dvds and even outdoor chairs. We'll done to the owners on a beautiful site. Will definitely be back.

A gem of a site

A gem of a site. Coded security gate, level hardstandings, fully serviced, plenty of room. Warm welcome from owners who keep you informed of any activity in the fields that may affect your dogs, ie: crop sraying. Smashing dog walk around the fields on mostly flat level surfaces, ideal if you're unsteady on your legs like me. An added bonus of a wooden "Park" bench to rest on, and either lengthen your walk or to walk back from. Free WiFi is good, TV signal good, phone signal good. Our first visit, but we will return for the calm, peace and quiet. Very relaxing.
