Immaculate site

WOW, what an amazing site. We recently had a two night stay here on our return journey from North Wales and we were so happy to have chosen this CL. The grounds are so well kept with a lovely fish pond on site. During our stay we enjoyed walks along the Llangollen canal, which is situated just behind the site and did a round trip to the Farmers Arms pub in the nearby village where we had a decent meal. You have your own serviced pitch and you pay for the electric you use. John takes the reading on your arrival and departure and we paid £5.50 for electric for the 2 night stay which was very reasonable.

Perfect site

Arrived to an immaculate site and received a very warm welcome from John. The ground was firm and had no difficulty with our 8 metre motorhome despite a few showers. Electric was metered which we prefer, just under £10 for three nights which included our showers, cooking and of course lights. Lovely walk along the canal though we couldn't make it north to the junction of the Shropshire canal due to tow path damage under the last bridge. No problem with the south towpath apart from the odd shower of rain! Our highlight was having the local owl swoop low across our pitch No. 1 several times each evening and returning to his house in the back of Johns garden. We would return should we be in this area again.

Fantastic site

Just had 2 weeks at this beautiful site. The grass is extremely well maintained and there is a pond with water lillies and ducks - very pretty. The pitches are very large with trees along the edge to give shade, but there is plenty of space to sit in the sun if that is your preference. The fully serviced pitches add to the very relaxing atmosphere of the site. It is close to Nantwich which is well worth a visit or two, as is Snugburys ice cream farm - you have to go several times as there is so much choice! Very pleasant walks can be made along the canal which is just at the back of the site. John and Kath are the very welcoming owners, full of local knowledge and advice if you need it, but they are not at all intrusive. This was our second visit and we're sure it wont be our last.

Lovely Few Days

John gave us a warm welcome as we arrived on site and an overview of the facilities. The site is as good as the photographs, with flowers and mown grass, and plenty of space between neighbours. The pond and canal about 100 metres away both provide for a pleasant evening stroll after dinner, with views of the surrounding fields. We hope to be back before too long to see more of the area.

A Very Warm Welcome

We stayed here for 7 days in a thoroughly relaxing CL, very well maintained and convenient with water and waste on pitch. We enjoyed the canal walks from behind the site, watching the boats traversing Swanley Locks. Also well located for many places of interest to visit including Nantwich, National trust properties and Cholmondeley Castle Gardens. We shall definitely return to this amazing site and very obliging owners.

Superb C L in beautiful location

We stayed at Swanley House for 5 days and found it excellent, Quiet with extra large immaculate pitches and lovely views. Electricity hook up was on separate meter to all 5 pitches which is great because we were not paying towards the other pitches supply only what we used ( it only cost us £2.00 a day ) . As we are keen Tandem cyclists we enjoyed the close access to the Cheshire Cycle routes on many quiet lanes around Wrenbury, Whitchurch, and Nantwich in the lovely sunshine during our stay. Close also for walking a lovely section of the Shropshire Union Canal. We will definitely be wanting to visit this GEM of a C L again in the future. Many thanks also to the owners John & Kath Hulme.

Welcoming, tranquil and peaceful site.

Met and welcomed on arrival at this site which fully met our wish list for a relaxing three night getaway. The site is extremely well maintained with an attractive and mature natural pond with pink and white waterlilies and of course some ducks. Good variety of local places of interest to visit. Fully recommend this site, we'll be back.

A Gem

This is a fabulous cl. It should certainly vie for an award. The pitches are REALLY GENEROUS in size, and with water and electricity on each, just great. The area for disposing of waste is neat and very clean. Bring eco toilet additive or buy some from the lovely owners to ensure their system stays well and healthy. There are files of walks and other local information, a book box for swaps. The site is so peaceful. We have a MH and walk everywhere with our dog. This site is in a great location. The canal is 300 metres from the gate and is great walking. To the right you can head to the confluence of the Shroppie and Grand Union and enjoy watching the boats on the locks. Sadly the route to the ice cream place at bridge 4 is blocked - shame. You could walk on down to Nantwich but that is quite a walk. There is a field route of 1.9 miles to Nantwich from the site with a lovely cafe at the Marina for a stopover. Numerous pubs too on outskirts. Nantwich is lovely with a great variety of interesting architecture, a square and lots of good shops, eateries and pubs. To the left on the canal the path takes you on the canal and if you leave at bridge 12 you’ll cross farmland and meet the road the cl is on, turn right and The Farmers pub is just there. ONLY order the meat pie if you want the best packed pie anywhere - fresh carrots, peas and brilliant homemade chips. I needed the walk back I can tell you. It’s much shorter on the quiet road but the canal route is a good healthy and enjoyable trip. We will visit this marvellous cl again many times. It’s a great spot and a credit to the owners.

Little piece of Paradise

I can't praise this pretty little CL enough, such a glorious location within two minutes walk of the Llangollen canal. Glorious garden setting with flat immaculately cut lawns, fully serviced pitches, Free WiFi. Lovely warm welcome from the owners. Already planning our next visit, it's so good my wife was reluctant for me to let anybody else know about this hidden gem. Just wished we had booked longer.

A top class CL.

We have just returned from a stay at Swanley House CL. This is our first visit to this site and certainly will not be our last. We have stayed at many CL’s in our travels but this has to be in our special set of top sites. The setting is beautiful with expansive views across the CL to the surrounding countryside and the grounds are immaculate. A huge amount of work is done by the owners, John and Kath, to keep the pitches and surrounding lawns tidy and dare I say it looking better than some golf greens I have seen! These are superior pitches in every sense of the word with plenty of room between each pitch and each with its own water tap, EHU and drain. The recycling and black waste point is spacious and easily accessible. The pond encourages a large variety of birdlife and there is an overall sense of tranquillity when sitting out at the end of the day. The Llangollen canal is a short walk from the site, and we also made a 9 mile circular walk from the site along the canal to where it joined the Shropshire Union canal passing the Hurleston lock flight and then on down to Acton and back to the Llangollen via the Dorfold Hall estate and Ravensworth. Nantwich is well worth a visit and the Superlative Walks website, and they offer a Nantwich town and river walk which combines very interesting details on the main historical features of the town and a 3 mile riverside loop walk. We haven’t stopped talking about our visit since returning home.
