Lovely stay

We stayed 3 nights on this excellent site in June. We were welcomed on arrival by the friendly owner who had come down from the house to offer assistance to another new arrival having problems with their caravan. All the pitches have lovely views across the Pentland Firth to the Orkneys and electric hook up, water and individual waste drain. Everything was clean and tidy around the site and the signage from the road to it is good. A real bonus is the Crofters Snug website which offers comprehensive information about the local area and activities, plus links to other relevant, interesting websites and Aps. Accessing this was simple as the WiFi was great! The Castle of Mey is very close and worth a visit. Dunnets Head offered the opportunity to watch the Puffins in a fabulous setting and orcas were seen off Duncansby Head, though sadly not by us, although we thoroughly enjoyed the bracing walk and stunning views of the stacks. Another plus to this CL is the excellent customer service. Booking was efficient and communication prompt. We were welcomed on to the site and the owner was helpful. She also popped by as we were leaving , a nice touch, but was otherwise unobtrusive but available if needed. We wished we had stayed longer!

A lovely site with beautiful views and helpful, welcoming hosts

We had a lovely short break here just before Christmas and were met on arrival by the very helpful and friendly hosts Karina and Jo. The site is very clean and well cared for and the location is quiet and peaceful, and is probably the most northerly on the mainland. There are wonderful views of Dunnet Head, The Orkneys and Stroma, especially when the sun shines and lights them up. Thank you Karina and Jo.

Simply the best!

We have stayed at this CL every year since it opened, and it is our favourite CL on the whole network (but ssshh... don’t tell everybody 😂 ). Stunning views, well-managed and led, and two hosts who cannot do enough for you, as well as being two of the nicest people you could wish to meet. We do a 1000 mile round trip to this site at least once a year and it is worth every mile on the road! They had it superbly set up this year to respond to COvID and ensured a very high cleaning standard was kept. The site is impeccable and they work so hard to maintain high standards. Keep up the great work Kirsty and Steve. Can’t wait for our next return visit. Andrew and Sue.

My favourite site on our trip

This was a lovely site, immaculate and well organised used with beautiful views and great walks. Easy access to John o Groats, Dunnet Head and Duncansby Head. The owner was very friendly and helpful and pointed us in the direction of the local butchers for gas as well as great meat. We would happily return when we visit the Highlands again.

Lovely spot, angry hosts.

Had a tel call a few days before we were due to arrive, to say they had double booked but could put us on a pitch at end. This turned out to be a car park space. I expressed disapointment when i saw it, but the owners then got angry and very abusive, despite my repeated requests for them to calm down, at one point we were told to go! Stayed just the night, and not the 3 booked, appreciate the owners may be stressed due to the virus, but abusing the guests is totally unacceptable, especially as the lady went off and told the people in the next van that we had been difficult and were causing her big problems.

Perfect CL

We stayed here in our caravan in July 2020, just after lockdown restrictions were lifted. This CL is immaculately kept and is a perfect CL for anyone who appreciates great views and peace and quiet. Good hard standing pitches, each with its own EHU, tap and drain, all with amazing views across the Pentland Firth to Orkney. The site is on a very quiet rural road with only the occasional car or tractor. If you have a caravan a motor mover is really useful to get the nose into the pitch. The pitches are a bit slopy but not so much that we couldn’t get level. Secluded beaches and coves all within 10 minutes walk. We’d return in a flash. 🙂

Hidden gem

Arrived on site and within minutes Steve came to welcome us, and provided an immense amount of information about wildlife etc in the area. Site immaculately kept, grass worthy of Wimbledon, each pitch has access to water, drainage and electric hook up. Our only two issues were not being able to get our motorhome level, even with ramps, and the wind/rain (nothing anyone could do about that!). Other than that, it's a beauty of a site and would recommend to anyone. You need transport, as it's off the beaten track so no buses. Glamping pods and shepherds hut looked amazing too. Lovely site, lovely owners.

Wonderful cl

Returned home after a three weeks' tour of Scotland. This site was the pinnacle of our trip. The best ever views from any site that we have stayed at... And we've been caravanning since 1982! We saw dolphins swimming past us thanks to the owner Steve pointing them out. Steve and Kirsty were very welcoming and made sure we were okay. Clean and very tidy pitches too. One bit of constructive criticism would be that the chemical point could be nearer as it's a fair way up the drive, although a helpful cart trolley is provided. We took a day trip to Orkney which was amazing. Fantastic walking country with spectacular views. What a place. Thanks Steve and Kirsty.
