A lovely site and location.

Having just returned from a 4 night stay at this site I just thought a short personal review was in order. Having never holidayed in Suffolk before the Vulcan Arms seemed a good coastal location for me, my partner and our 2 dogs. It actually turned out to be the perfect place to be - for us. The shingle beach is dog friendly all year, no roads to cross for access to the beach. The pub itself is quite cosy with a good selection of beers and lagers etc. and the landlord a very pleasant guy. The pub has a reasonable menu both at lunch and evening. Free WiFi is also available. The site is compact, slightly sloping with grass pitches. Free draining on the sandy soil and 16amp EHU's easily accessible. Some might see it as a bit basic but it has everything you actually need. The site is quite near the Sizewell Nuclear plant but that in itself causes no problem. Perhaps a little background traffic noise at times, but in reality not a problem. Sizewell, as a power station, is a huge place but strangely not as intimidating as I thought it might be. Its giant industrial buildings actually seemed quite muted by the fantastic swathe of shingle beach, rugged dunes and crashing waves. By day 3 I'd stopped noticing it at all. Sizewell is the perfect base for touring the coastal region of Suffolk. The varied scenery, villages and towns makes for pleasant touring. Aldburgh, Snape Maltings and Thorpeness are virtually on your doorstep. There's lots to do and see all around or you can just have a quiet time in a pleasant CL We will certainly be back again for another stay.
