Long weekend just before half term week

This was our first time visiting Abbey Wood. We found the route circuitous travelling from Dartford Crossing, but understood once we arrived. The narrow road down Knee Hill is not suitable for turning left into Federation Road for caravans or motorhomes. However by using the roundabout at the bottom of the hill, motorhomers could easily then make the right turn. The site was perfect for our short break and we were able to travel by train to Chatham, to the Historic Naval Dockyard. There is a Sainsbury supermarket on the other side of the train tracks and there are frequent buses out to Thamesmead shopping centre: Argos, Morrisons and Aldi. Facilities on site were immaculate and the wardens have worked extremely hard to clear all the dead leaves from the grassed areas and under shrubs. We enjoyed watching the squirrels and it was lovely to wake to the sound of woodpeckers each morning. We will certainly be visiting again.
