Like coming home !!
Bit construction noise this time, but not a problem.
Surprised to see empty pitches.yes toilet block a bit tired and I miss shower curtains but its so much more than just a pitch for the night.
Bristol has so many places to see we always seem to say we will get to something else next time.
The council still don't seem to realise what an asset this place is.
The amount to time and money we have spent over the years isn't something we think about !!
You can take your pick of empty flats for sale walking into city, yet more being built. Leave this site alone !!
One more trip booked hope its not last one.
Excellent site brilliantly located in the centre of Bristol
We have only had a motorhome since the end of March and have already stayed at this site three times.
We live in Bristol but have let out our house while we travel, so this has been a great place to stay when we have been wanting to be in the city for one reason or another. You couldn't be in a better location, with the centre of the city a short walk away, some great pubs and restaurants close by and the river literally on the doorstep - including the SS Great Britain being only a couple of minutes away.
The staff are friendly and welcoming and all the usual Caravan Club facilities are available.
Great site, but getting expensive.
We've stayed here multiple times, and we enjoy the unique location on Spike Island with The Avon to the front of the site, and Baltic Wharf to the rear. My partners son lives in Bristol, so the site has proved very convenient for us. However, the cost now of staying on CAMC sites is getting very expensive. Our 3 x nights in May cost us £145 ........just over £48 per night. It gets more expensive over the Summer months, obviously. Don't get me wrong, we're not suddenly going to stop attending because of the expense - we're lucky, we can afford it, but I think a lot of people will not be attending the Club sites as much. At the end of the day, the facilities are basic, though very clean. I just wonder, if and when the cost of electricity & gas eventually reduces (one can hope), then will the Club reduces their expensive fees accordingly?
We booked in advance, a boat trip, from Baltic Wharf to Avonmouth. I've always wanted to do this, if only to go through the locks out of the Wharf, and into the Avon. It was an amazing trip. Our boat was was followed through the lock system by the replica galleon, The Matthew. We waited around in the Wharf, until the first bridge (Junction Swing Bridge) opened, and allowed entry into the Cumberland Basin. Then we had to wait around the Basin until the second Swing Bridge opened, The Plimsol Swing Bridge (Brunel Way), and that was a great experience to behold, with the road alarms going off then witnessing the traffic coming to a halt. Quite a crowd gathered to witness The Matthew sail through into the lock, with our boat. Once in the lock, and the gates closed behind you, the rate at which the water was pumped out was phenomenal. Then, when at the same level as the Avon, the front gates opened, and we were off up the Avon, on our way to Avonmouth. A trip that lasted around 3.1/2 hours, with great commentary along the way, all for £23. Fantastic value. You must try this trip at least once !
As already been stated on here, the wardens at Baltic Wharf are lovely, helpful & hard working.
Just a tip when selecting your pitch, if you select a pitch next door to the Sailing Club, it will get noisy of a weekend, as they are active very early !
We will be back of course, and hopefully the site will stay open beyond 2023. You wonder, with the way the economy has gone, with the cost of everything spiralling up, whether the Council has delayed the building of apartments on the Club site because of increased costs ? And, as someone pointed out on here, there are quite a few apartments already up for sale.
Always good to be here.
I always feel like I,m returning home !!!
Numerous trips here over 20 years in various motorhomes.
Birthdays, wedding anniversaries, harbour festivals balloon weekend etc.
Facilities a bit tired roadworks been going on for years.not noisy this time.good wardens.
Not in best of health but feel better for being here.roll on July for next visit.
Always hopeful council will finally decide to leave the site alone.
Perfect location
Lovely relaxed site, a small peaceful respite from the city, but perfectly located to explore Bristol. Friendly staff, spotlessly clean toilets and showers, everything you need in the right place. Hopefully it can continue to operate in its current location. Thank you!
Go while you still can!
Despite heavy rain we enjoyed another trip to this fantastic location in the heart of Bristol.
The warden maintains the facilities to a first class standard and is very cheerful and helpful.
There are not many sites in such a unique location - the current extension to the lease may(?) be extended again, but sooner or later it will close so if you've not been before - try it this year before it's too late!
WARDENS
There's nothing to add with regards to what everyone else says about Baltic Wharf. Location, Bristol amenities and shopping etc. Cleanliness and general upkeep at the site.
However, having just spent four nights ther, I was totally impressed by the wardens on site, they were extremely pleasant to talk to and always on hand for directions/advice, they were clearly hard working - the facilities were immaculate, and their general demeanour and attitude was exemplary. Clearly they were customer focussed and, in my opinion a credit to themselves above all.
Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.
On a totally different note, forgive me if it's been mentioned elsewhere, but every time you enter the city, the clean air charge is payable at £9.00 for relevant vehicles. we travelled 2.4 miles in the zone to reach the site and the same distance on leaving, which equates to £18.00 extra on your site fees. I do feel that the club should be making members aware of this PRIOR to accepting and bookings.

Here again.
Always good to return here.yet another extension to closing date.long may site continue !!
Still ongoing roadworks outside site but not a problem while we were there.
Pleasant wardens warm toilet block and hot water.what more could you want ??
Harbouring has plenty of flats for sale and Council should give up on daft idea of closing this site which is an asset to the city.plenty of visitors spend plenty of money in the shops and pubs.
Looking forward to next trip when hopefully won't have as much rain.
Well Worth A Visit.
We’ve been wanting to try the Baltic Wharf site for some time. On the old booking system it seemed to be one of those popular ones that were always fully booked, then came the notices of closure due to redevelopment of the area by the local authority. However, the club notified me by email that the lease on the site had again been extended until December 2023 and so I attempted to book as an extension to our stay at the Four Oaks site at Henley on Thames. Bingo! We were in. We took the M4 from Henley to Bristol, and other than a slightly complicated final mile or so through Bristol City centre with its roadworks, we landed safe and sound.
I can confirm it is a site well worth visiting. A gate out of site onto the riverside walk either into the city, or next door to the pub. Fantastic history surrounds you and all is very well documented on boards. Plenty of easy access to pubs, restaurants, cafés or whatever you want. Our stay in February was blessed with beautiful sunny weather and clear blue skies too. No issues at all with the services and friendly helpful staff.
Our camper van is 6.4 metres long, and I would say this is around a maximum for easy access through the roadworks, with some pitches also restricted to this as a maximum length. But all in all, very highly recommended.
Great Site
What a shame this site is closing at the end of March.
Fantastic position to walk around the Floating Harbour and to walk up to the Clifton Suspension Bridge. We parked up on Saturday and never used our campervan until our return on Wednesday. Bristol Cathedral and St. Marys Redcliffe are a must, such magnificent buildings. Baltic Wharf would have definitely been on our return list but sadly that is not to be. We are so glad we visited when we did.
Close by is the Orchard pub, super selection of still ciders (counted 17) and real ales (only sandwiches, pies and pasties for food), even closer is the Cottage pub, a Butcombe brewery pub with all their ales and a good pub food menu.
