Good location, excellent facilities

5 nights here before Easter. Very windy and that rather put me on edge in this wooded site. Lots of debris flying around ! But the wardens were clearing up each day  - well done , very pleasant helpful as well. Facilities are very much up to club standards and large too. It was very wet as previous reviewer comments . Really enjoyed carsington water and plenty of walking nearby as well as only about 40 mins to Alton towers. A good site in a good location, but remember it's  in an evergreen wood on a hill!

Mud spoiled it but great location

Just spent easter here. The site itself has a fab car park with loads of space and the wardens are nice and friendly.the layout is a bit odd and not very clear as its just one track up to the top and the same down with no one way system like the others we have stayed at.Several times you find yourself having to get out of the way of oncoming outfits. The pitches branch off the main part. it is one big hill and the drainage is terrible once it rains which it had before we got there and again for 24 hours on Friday some of the pitches turn into swamps .We stayed at the top end and one poor family ended up in the middle of a pond. The shower facilities are really good quality but are nearer the bottom so if you are at the top you have a hike to get to the loo or do the washing up it would be better if there were 2 toilet blocks .The main road is gravel but once you go onto the pitches it seems that all the gravel has gone. The pitches have gravel but the road to them hasent so the result is you end up getting muddy everytime you go for a walk. The dog walk was that water logged you couldn't get onto it never mind walk up it.Carsington water itself is great and has a great path all the way round although we were under the impression you could walk out of your van onto the Lake (its a 20 min walk). All in all I suppose it would have been a different story if the weather would have been better and it did brighten up towards the end of the stay. You cant blame anyone for weather but I think the site needs upgrading a little.

carsington water

I joined the CC on Thursday 26th March and went to Carsington Water the next day, my first stay on a CC site. When I arrived on Friday lunchtime I received a very warm welcome to the club and the site. The staff on arrival were very polite, helpful, good on local knowledge and very pleasant. After I had found myself a pitch I went to check out were every thing was. The facilities were first class, the toilet and shower block excellent. A big thank you to all the staff for making my first visit to a CC site memorable. The walking in the area is good, enjoyed three nice walks. Looking forward to lots more visits to club sites and trying some of the CL sites. Would recommend this site.

Second Visit

20-23 March. Wife and I Just spent a pleasant stay at this lovely site, it always reminds us of the camp sites set in the pine forests of France. The close location to Carsington Water reservoir is nice, especially if you have a dog to walk. Its clear there has been a lot of work going on, the new pitches looked great. The toilet/shower block is immaculate. The wardens are always pleasant and willing to help. If your looking for a nice peaceful site in Derbyshire, we recommend Carsington Water.

Breath of fresh air

Lovely site, wonderful dog walk..best in the network.! Modern immaculate facilities, with none stop radio 2,nice. Lots of places to go and to walk to. We tried out our new dog and our new blow up awning, both passed the test. The latter collapsing under the snow..but soon popped up after a little help. The wardens are very pleasant helpful and collie owners. So whats not to like...nothing!

The Smith Family Review of Carsington Water Caravan Club Site

This was our first visit to The Carsington Water Caravan Club Site. We were really pleased with the great location. Top marks all round, from arrival to leaving we were really impressed. The welcome was very friendly, lovely wardens and made to feel at home immediately. The site had just opened for the new season and the location is beautiful. Very high standards clearly visible all round the site, and absolutely spotless showers / loo's. Very pooch friendly with really good dog walks and easy access to Carsington Water next door. Fabulous! We will now be making this our local number one weekend site. Living in Leicestershire it is really handy for a short weekend break. We love Derbyshire for the scenery / walks / and this site is easy access from Ashbourne only few miles away. 5 star rating from us. Thank you, it was a pleasure to spend our first 2015 break at this location.
