Friendly wardens

This is our local site being only 40 minutes away, and we do enjoy it.  The greatest improvement for us this year is the wardens.  They are much friendlier and more approachable. However, there is a but with this site.  The security is terrible and is becoming a real issue.  The site could also do with a make over, we feel it's getting rather old a tired.  Well and truly ready for some improvements in the wash and shower facilities.  Another issue for us is the mess and noise from dogs.  We find the dog owners that attend this site feel it's not their responsibility to clear up the mess left behind by their dogs.  Last year a dog was allowed to poo on our pitch and this weekend a dog pood next to the football pitch and the owner just left it.   Things that can be improved upon very easily

Beautiful Site but wardens let it down :(

We were a party of 3 caravans and wanted to be sited together.... Upon booking reception said this would not be possible but if arrived together we may be ok. We arrived together. First thing warden said on arrival was "you'll be lucky"... Our first impression!! In reception staff were very polite and confirmed that we should all get together as there was still 60 pitches free!!!! Grumpy warden sprang to mind! We did all get sited together. The park is beautiful, the pitches are large and the surroundings are just stunning. I didn't use the showers until the next morning, I was on my way when I got spotted by the cleaner, she saw I was holding my towel - "you'd better be quick we're cleaning in 5 minutes" was her response. Can't believe that the toilets/showers are actually 'shut' at what I would say is peak time in the morning. The two wardens that walked around site were not very friendly and needed to be more welcoming... Also when I was asking to stay later and pay for this on the day we was leaving the  lady said "if you'd read the leaflet you should've come sooner" no need for it I thought!! Very old school, rules, regs etc.... Concentrate on being more welcoming as it's the staff that let the stunning site down.. Everything else is fab. Lovely park for the kids, cycling routes are of plenty. Will return for definate. But hopefully the staff won't put us in detention or make us do lines for not reading the leaflet!!!

Wi-Fi on this site

Whilst I agree with all the previous comments as regards location, facilities, cleanliness and friendly staff I think mention should be made about the wi-fi facility - or lack of. Reception is extremely poor. On a recent visit to Clumber Park I was only able to access the internet once throughout my five day stay. I know this is not the fault of the club or the staff on site but, unless you are really desperate, leave well alone. So the lack of internet and no mobile phone signal may not be such a bad thing after all if you want a peaceful stay.

Clumber Park Stays July 2015

We have now stayed twice at Clumber and have boooked again for August. Handy for us as only 10 minutes away from home so allows us to get away as well as allowing our children to carry on with there weekend activities. Staff friendly, pitches good size, facilities clean and adequate. Only downside lots of dogs barking, however, this is a dog friendly site so knew what to expect. Also internet access would be handy. Overall very enjoyable will continue to visit.

Ticked all the boxes for us

We have just returned from a couple of nights at this site.  We are two adults and two dogs with a touring caravan.  We found that this site ticked all the boxes for us.  Easy access to the site for all sizes of vehicles.  Friendly, peaceful and quiet during the week with a bit more of a family feel to the weekends when more families arrives with young children as there is a nice, safe play area on site for young children.  The site is situated perfectly within the Clumber Park which is forest, grassland, National Trust gardens and lake with tearoom and shop. Miles and miles of walks and cycle paths which were great for us and the dogs to explore.  Bonus that you can walk 90% of the National Trust area and tearooms without paying any admission fee.  The site was very clean and well kept.  The pitches were generous and there was plenty of space, you did not feel crowded even when the site filled up over the Friday/Saturday.  Toilet blocks were a little dated (have seen plenty much, much worse) but immaculately clean.  We found all the wardens friendly, even to the point that they stopped for a chat as they did their rounds of the site, which is always nice as they can give you tips on the local facilities outside of the site.  All in all a lovely site and we hope to return soon.

Disabled Facilities

We have just stayed for a week and by and large had a great relaxing stay. We are both disabled and need the disabled toilet regularly, even through the night. Unfortunately our stay was blighted by the fact that mid week the whole block had to be closed for 24 hours due to "a water leak in the Gents Toilet". Plumbers and electricians were called to remedy this fault in the Gents, but the warden insisted that we could not use the disabled (even though it was serviceable) and "locked it off for 24 hours" resulting in two trips in the car during the night to the other block (which did not have its own disabled any way). My wife was very distressed by this, and we felt that more understanding should be given to disabled people. We tried not to let it spoil our stay and hope to try the sight again in the future.

Comment from The Club:

Many thanks for leaving a review. The wardens have been in touch to advise that there was a major water leak in the roof of the Gentlemen’s in Toilet Block "A" causing all of the lights in the whole Toilet Block to fuse. They had to close the whole block for Health and Safety as there were no lights. The Electrician arrived the next morning on an emergency call-out and made a temporary repair enabling the re-opening of the Toilet Block. Toilet Block "B" was open fully at this time. We are sincerely sorry for the inconvenience this caused you and your wife but unfortunately this could not have been avoided as we need to ensure members are safe whilst on site.

Second visit

We liked Clumber on our first visit and so returned about a year later.  The site is spacious, with lovely walks straight from site through several gates around the site, its great for dogs.  There is a very large, easily accessed playpark for kids.  As its nice and open you can see the playpark from quite a distance so don't need a pitch right beside it to keep an eye on your kid.  Clumber Park itself is well worth visiting and is an easy walk through the forest.  My gripes with this site are the shower block is a little tired compared to some sites and probably needs an update.  Also we were a little bemused by the warden.  We have a continental motorhome and usually park on the pitch so our awning is the same way as everyone elses.  We parked like this, which was to the left of the pitch marker with a view to putting the awning up to the right of the pitch marker.  There was a good 5m between our motorhome and the neighbours awning.  The warden made us move so the motorhome was to the right of the pitch marker (exactly the position the awning would have been) and the we had to put the awning up exactly where the motorhome had been, but facing in to next doors awning.  We actually didn't mind as the aspect for the sun was better this way round, but seemed a bit mad.  Oh well, rules are rules!  We probably will visit again, but it is losing its shine a bit.

Disappointing.....

....been to this site before and it is actually very good and in a lovely location. Our most recent one night stay in early June was ruined by irresponsible dog owners......I don't blame the dogs for constantly barking but their owners for not controlling them. Site wardens should be pro-active in "sorting out" the dog owners rather than giving you all your instructions, do's and don'ts etc when you arrive. Similar goes for parents needing to keep children under control when playing outside of the specially designed and designated play area.

Unhelpful wardens

“Lovely site shame about unsympathetic warden” 4 of 5 starsReviewed 16 June 2015 NEW We were very impressed with the site itself but found one of the wardens extremely unhelpful when he asked my disabled husband to move his car to the carpark while we were visiting ours friends caravan acrooss the other side of the site and we had parked behind their vehicle without blocking anybody or invading onto the next pitch which was empty. It was pouring down with rain and my hubbie explained his situation to the warden and showed him his crutches. This fell on deaf ears and he repeated the request to park in the carpark which was not only full but too far to walk back from on crutches! We were amazed that children were allowed to play football between caravans and parked cars and the neighbouring caravans to us had cars parked opposite to the site plan but nothing was said by wardens! Busy Clumber

We only ever stay here on the way to somewhere else -it is conveniently placed near the A1. Afraid we would not stay here any longer even though it is great for dogs - surrounded by forest it is just too busy - we understand - absolutely great for families - loads of cycle trails and a feeling of space in the forest but  far too busy and the last time we stayed there it really was full - we had pre-booked but still spaces were few and far between with pitches very close together.
