Large well run site. Surrounding area is a bit dodgy - suggest you do not venture out site after dark.
Staff polite but seemed very down - site was not busy - maybe site fees too high?
Site description needs updating - describes Holyrood Palace as the Queens Official residence when she is in Scotland. Sadly she will not be back so come on Club get your act together.
Fantastic site but toilets need an upgrade
The site is perfect for visiting Edinburgh and the surrouding area. Have used the site quite a few times now. Air traffic didn't bother us. The only thing that lets it down is the old toilet blocks but it wouldn't stop us using the site again. Slighty pricey compared to other club sites.
Fantastic site, lovely wardens, but the toilet block is in need of a refresh
We have stayed here several times over the last few months and cannot be more pleased by the site cleanliness and layout. On our last two visits, the regular wardens have been away on holiday but the temporary cover have been doing an excellent job.
The site does have aeroplanes passing overhead, but they are not too noisy or frequent, nor too late at night. There can be a little road noise if you are parked on the edge, but again, it is not too invaisive.
Our main critiscism is that the toilet blocks are very "tired" and in need of an upgrade. Once that is done, we would happily rate it as 5 star.
Fantastic site, lovely staff, needs an upgrade
There is so much to like about this site. It's only a short walk to catch a bus (which are very frequent) and then there's everything that Edinburgh has to offer. It's by the Firth of Forth, and having found that you can get to Cramond Island along a tidal causeway - we'll be back. Despite the airport it's quiet and the staff are very welcoming. But (and it's a big BUT) the toilet block is seriously in need of a refurbishment. With no shower curtain your clothes are likely to get wet and the showers seem to have been designed for people under 5'8" tall. The motorhome service points are on a slight but discernible slope, so unless you contravene the one way system to get your drain on the right side grey waste does not empty.
Don't get me wrong, we like it and will be back. It just could be so much better. And when will the club start including reliable wifi in the price? Commercial sites do, and at less cost per night.
3 nights in Feb
We ( family of 3) visited for 3 nights in February. Site itself was a typical site. Fairly tidy. Half the site was closed off, assuming because of low season. Family also tried to book, but was told was fully booked. Unfortunately this was not the case as there were around 4/5 empty pitches each night we were there. Children’s park looked good my 9 year old said, but unfortunately this was also closed (much to his disappointment). Aircraft noise didn’t bother us at all. To be expected when you are on the flight path. Local vicinity was ok, noticed the homeless people wandering, but were not bothered really.
Used the local bus service into town. This was easy to use.
Would probably come again if in Edinburgh again.
A little bit expensive to stay. But this is the trend for all sites now I think.
Good Site but too expensive
Having read mixed reviews of this site for years, we booked for a week between Christmas and New Year’s Eve
The welcome was excellent, very polite and helpful - I know I’m growing older but the wardens aren’t half getting younger nowadays
Nice pitch (71) and toilet block was fine, although dated compared to some sites, it was very clean and even though it was the old type showers there was plenty of hot water and good pressure too
The dish washing area was outside which was a bit cold at this time of year
One issue to note with the site is that the pathway to reception alongside the dog walk is dangerous as it’s mostly unlit (apart from a solar light that runs out of power after some time and one low level lamppost about halfway down) and there is a 2” drop off the side of the tarmac path onto the gravel where I slipped off one night and twisted my ankle but it wasn’t serious so I didn’t bother reporting it, but take care if you go down the path at night
Took a trip into Edinburgh with Graham on his minibus and that was great and well worth the money, went in at 10.30 and returned at 4.30 which was enough for us after a walk down George St and St James shopping centre and Princes St and found some great places for having coffee, lunch and a few drinks - Graham was very knowledgeable about places to go etc
The area around the site isn’t very salubrious with litter strewn in quite a few places and blocks of flats and a migrant hotel not far from the site to the left but we didn’t experience and problems and did plenty of walking around which was nice, the site still appears to have security issues as lock up sheds have been provided for bikes etc
Phone signal was great on EE, Vodafone and O2
My only real complaint is the cost at £48 per night is ridiculous and other popular sites like Chatsworth are even more expensive at £51 per night - I fear that there will be a drop off in terms of people using these sites, we have been members for 38 years and for the first time have hesitated to make bookings due to the current site pitch costs
Toilet block let’s site down
On arrival the wardens were very helpful and pleasant, we found our pitch and the site itself was very tidy even for this time of year. The location of the site is great and the warden explained how to get into the city centre via the bus service. The toilet block themself are very clean, but these are well overdue a refurb, this is by far the worst toilet block we have had on club sites and even private sites. Hopefully the camc has this site on the list to refurbish the toilet blocks.
Disappointed
Having been to this site numerous times over the last twenty years we now feel it is not value for money compared to other independent sites. Our main complaint is the toilet blocks require to be upgraded as they are definitely showing their age , as the site has two blocks with only one being used during low season surely one could be updated at this time. We do hope the Club listen to their members comments as I have noted other reviews stating similar complaints. Thanks

Excellent and Professional staff/site
I absolutely loved this site , a few of the reviews I find very “touchy” on the general condition of this site . The air traffic hardly causes any issues as I see it , maybe some noise for a few seconds when there is a plane overhead .
Firstly it’s in an excellent area for visiting both Leith and Edinburgh City , there are great facilities, Morrisons, ALDI, plenty take-always. The information centre is great. Staff were superb and all facilities were working well. To say the facilities require an upgrade for me is way off the mark, everything is clean ( very) functional, accessible and well looked after. We can all agree that the costs of some sites are expensive, however that’s an issue to take directly with the company. This is a great site and I’d have no hesitation returning.
Still good enough to return again
Generally quiet and peaceful with no football being played on adjacent sports fields this visit, but a lot of planes coming into Edinburgh Airport cannot be ignored if you are on the north side of site.
Endless attractions in and around Edinburgh. Parking can be expensive so make use of the very good bus service, the bus stop being a brisk 5 minute walk from the site. There is a minibus service between the site and city centre.
Normally we take our bikes to explore the city on an extensive set of cycle paths but on this September visit we chose not to take them after using the Club's bike lockers last time because of safety concerns.
Wardens were super helpful with ideas and advice, keeping the site clean and well presented on top of the enormous task of hedging and tree pruning on this well screened, spacious site,
