Pleasant Stay - No Shop

Stayed here early January. Very friendly reception, found a flat pitch, so no levelling blocks required (some have gentle slopes). We felt the site is missing a trick; there is no shop, you can't buy anything or order fresh bread for the next morning. The site is about 500 yards from nearest bus stop and then another 300 yards to the nearest store - so arrive with a full larder. There is a great Riverside walk 500 yards from the site (in the opposite direction to the shops and bus stop). The price of a bus ticket into the centre of Edinburgh is £1.70 - excellent value, plenty of buses. Would have given the site 5 stars for peace and quiet but it is close to the flight path of the airport, so it could be quieter. We live only 60 miles from the site but we will be using it again as it is an excellent location if you're having a night out in Edinburgh.

Maybe the warden has decided that there are not enough takers to make a shop worthwhile other than icecreams and perhaps milk.

The wardens obviously feel there is no call for them to stock groceries, otherwise I’m sure they’d do so. Perhaps you’re not aware that the ‘shops’ in reception are funded by the wardens out of their own pockets rather than the club itself. I reckon it’s good of the wardens to do it.
