Surprised!

We usually go to small sites and more often than not Adult Only but were going with friends with children to Ferry Meadows as they had been before. When we arrived we were taken aback by the sheer size of the site. We haven't stayed on anything so big either in our camping pre caravan days or now with the van and I must say we both thought "Oh dear!" Well we couldn't have been more wrong. What an awesome site! It was full yet the facilities were fantastic, clean and never a queue. For such a large site and being full it was so peaceful. I think this is down to the layout. We were on the grassed pitch side and the way the pitches have been thought through gives relative privacy. Of course it is by Ferry Meadows which is a fantastic place to spend time and with a steam railway that will take you into Peterborough what more do you want. Well how about a fish & chip van and ice cream van? We used both and the chips were better than I thought. The ice cream was heavenly, the small 99 was large in my book. The only negative was that our friends arrived about an hour before us but weren't allowed to save the pitch next to them, apparently CC rules. I really don't understand why. Even when he went up and said they are 15 mins away they still wouldn't so the children just sat on it so we got it. I shall be asking the CC why. There were lots of signs about bike thefts and we were very security conscious especially as it was obvious that members of the public could wander in. However the wardens patrolled often which was good to see. This is a site we will return to as it's close and really special.

Second visit to this wonderful site

This caravan site was the second caravan club site we visited after becoming Club Members. We enjoyed it so much we decided to visit again 2 months later! The site is spacious and extremely well run with excellent friendly staff. Although there are over 200 pitches it never seems cramped as it is set over two separate areas each of which is split into different sections. One side is more formal and tree lined, the other side (on the opposite side of the road) has more informal pitches and is more open although still lined with trees. Both sides are superbly looked after and have excellent facilities. It is possible to cycle or walk from the site into Peterborough without going by road which is a plus. The site itself is set within a beautiful country park which is what makes it such an attraction. The park has beautiful lakes, cycle rides, play facilities for children, boating facilities, a cafe and separate bar overlooking the lake. The wildlife is abundant. This site is ideal for families, or like us, an older couple!

Best site ever

Site number 9 of our trip. To be honest we were not looking forward to this one much, well what a lovely surprise, its fabulous. The wardens were great, how lovely to see and hear the steam train, and to ride on it was great, very nostalgic. This is such a lovely site, we have never come across such clean facilities ever. What a pleasure to find everything so well looked after well done wardens.Although we live in Scotland we have already worked out how best to make this a regular visit, the park is stunning and the ice cream van that comes around the site in the evening is great, what lovely creamy ice cream, cant wait to come back
