So sad!

Lady Margaret's Park is a wonderful site just as it is. Adding camping and glamping will ensure that many folk go no where near it again. So sad.

Good start to tour of Wales.

It is some years since we first visited this site and found it as good as previously. My only gripe is the hardness of the hard standing which was so compacted it was extremely difficult to hammer pegs into. That said we enjoyed our stay walking along the canal towpath to the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and visiting Chirk Castle and Erdig, both National Trust properties. There’s a good butchers in Chirk along with a very well stocked Spa supermarket, greengrocers and a couple of pubs, all within an easy walk from the rear of the site. Can’t comment on the toilets/showers as used our own facilities throughout. Would happily revisit but might use a grass pitch to avoid the hard labour of pegging out on the hard standings.

Two night stay

Lovely site amongst trees and in a great location. Our pitch was a little dark as under trees. The site is superbly placed on the edge of the Chirk estate and it is a short walk into the estate which is well worth a visit. Easy walking to Chirk town itself and enough shops there for your needs, we walked along the canal and enjoyed the aqueduct and viaduct. We understand that the site is closing at the end of the season for refurbishment. We will stay here again when it reopens

Good adult site

Only stayed one night on route to other sites within Chirk/Ellesmere area. Found it very peaceful, with good facilities and reasonable site fees. Two short dog walking areas on site (not enough for our English Springer Spaniel) but going off site we ventured onto the canal towpath and walked through Chirk tunnel (good experience and one for the 'bucket list' being ticked off (having a couple years back navigated the tunnel on a narrowboat). Short walk into Chirk (downhill) once outside the site, just by Chirk Castle gates (which very impressive and the history of them). Extensive walk available through Chirk Castle grounds but if taking your dog, this has to be on lead, as sheep freely graze. Would definitely return to the site.

Quiet and easy to access

One of the better sites, particularly if you have dogs with several on site walks and loads of places to go literally at the gate including onto the grounds of Chirk Castle (NT Castle but grounds free to access). On site walks include 2 woodland walks but unlike some that get muddy or are too short to be called a walk, these are good with one having a well made bark chip path and the other which is longer and has a natural path but in a slope so drains well. The site itself is nicely laid out with 2 cul-de-sac areas under large pine trees and the main area split into two levels, semi circular and again has large trees between them. It doesn't feel crowded at all and there are loads of service points around the site so never too far to walk with the water/waste. Toilet block a little dated but ok (though we generally now use our own facilities so my comment is based on 1 visit). The access is very easy with no narrow roads to negotiate and you can be back on the main A5 or A483 roads within minutes. Apparently the site is due for an "upgrade" this winter/spring 2021/22 with tent pitches and glamping pods being added as well as toilet block improvements. Hopefully the peacefulness of the site won't be ruined by these changes as I'd hate it to become an overcrowded place which would be a complete contrast to the current feel. Would recommend and will return.

Beautiful location, peaceful and quiet.

Lovely quiet site, a little too quiet for us. Toilet block was "tired" and in need of a facelift, but clean. Plenty of nice walks nearby, and cycling along the canal towpath. Watch out for the rabbit holes!

Poor Facilities

Peaceful well maintained site with friendly wardens but let down by dated bathroom facilities with not enough showers for the number of pitches. Very poor shower water pressure which made trying to wash your hair interesting and only one hand dryer ! Good public transport links (bus & train) within walking distance and easy access to the Llangollen canal. Would return but hoping for a bathroom facilities upgrade in the very near future 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Very nice site shame about selfish dog owners

This site is very well maintained, toilet facilities very clean, Warden's very friendly and lts in a fantastic location. The downside is the selfish dog owners that let their dogs bark and yap constantly, I don't think five minutes went by without one dog or another barking this tended to start a crescendo of yapping dogs all around the site - not very relaxing. Why don't these selfish owners be responsible owners and shut their dogs up?

Lady Margaret, what a little cracker!

Never been before, and this was supposed to be an overnighter on the way home from north west Wales, so it was a complete surprise to find this perfectly positioned little gem. The staff were warm and welcoming and we had only been on site a couple of hours when we asked if we could extend. We're motorhomers so look for sites where attractions can be reached on foot. Well there is a pleasant little village, a fascinating canal with aquaduct and tunnel, a castle and then the site is set in woodland. All I could hear at night was an owl hooting. Absolutely charming place, facilities are due, and need, an update but that aside it is perfect (for us anyway).

Great stay

We were warmly welcomed by a warden who advised us which pitches were available and which got the sunshine and when which was helpful. The site is large and has a lot of open space and it was nice that it was not so regimented as some sites. You really did feel surrounded by nature, Our stay was also very peaceful. There are two factories in Chirk but you can barely hear any noise - it is very minimal and did not affect our enjoyment at all. There were some children enjoying time on their bikes and scooters around the site but it is the August school holidays so it is to be expected really. The facilities were clean and we did not have to queue at all. Yes they do need a refurbishment but we understand this is in hand. Chirk itself is small but with a Spar and Co-op plus some takeaways it has everything you might need. We enjoyed walking along the Llangollen canal over Chirk Aqueduct towards Ellesmere, walking in the Ceiriog Valley, cycling along the towpath to Llangollen across the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and visiting the adjacent Chirk Castle and its estate. All in all we had a great time!
