Fantastic Location

We love this CC site, what a fantastic location.  We loved hearing the sea lions barking in the evening.  We enjoyed having access to the grounds on our bikes when everyone else had gone home.  Handy walking into the park as we could pop back to the site for lunch.  We will be back soon.  Tesco club card points are great to use to access Longleat. We stop here on our way to other sites.

Lovely site, great stay, probably won't visit again

Spent a lovely week at the site during the second week in July. Facilities are of the usual high standard, if rather dated. When the site is full during the summer holidays with lots of family vans more showers would be useful. Wardens very friendly, even provide herbs for your risotto ( snip your own at reception) Good for walking from the site as long as you have a valid Longleat ticket. Very little walking available on the non chargeable side of the site. The 5 day pass is very good value (see link on Longleat Page of CC website) but it must be purchased on line in advance. Best to do this before you arrive, as site WiFi is variable and mobile WiFi non existent on O2 and 3. (Not sure about other networks) Plenty to do at Longleat itself, get lost in the maze, feed the Lorikeets, walk with penguins, boat to see the gorilla (if he can tear himself away from his satellite TV) as well as the Tigers and Lions. As we had a five day pass we caught the safari bus (£5) one day, which enables you to see the monkeys without getting your car trashed, and went in the car a second day, avoiding the monkeys. This enabled us to look round the safari village, as the bus does not stop long. A good tip if you want to go on the morning bus, if you go to guest services at 9.30 they will sell you a ticket before the masses arrive at 10:00. It is unfortunate that Longleat management have decided not to allow access to the parkland without a valid ticket as it probably means we will not visit again. We like to walk without using the car and this is limited without paying. This was no problem this time as we wanted to see the lions etc. and the 5 day pass was great value. However, this would not be the case on a future visit.

WONDERFUL

This was our first visit to the Longleat site & it was up to the normal good standard of CC sites, we will definitely book again. The Wardens were very friendly & helpful and being right next to the Safari Park was extremely helpful, we didn't hear the Lions Roar but the Sea Lions were very noisy during the day when being fed from the Boats.  TV reception is not good but you can plug into the site aerial located on the side of the power pole for the pitch  (if you haven't got a long Aerial Coaxial have one made up for you before you go, it will cost you around £8.00 the Site shop sell them at £15.00 which I thought a little steep, but I did buy it to watch the Golf at St Andrews so in this case, I was happy to pay the £15.00) that was the only fault I could find with the site, both my Wife & I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, so a big thank you to the Wardens for keeping the site in such good condition.

Longleat Excellencea

Although on my own, I certainly chose a brilliant site in Longleat to stay at. The Wardens were tremendous and very hard working. All the facilities were kept to a high standard of cleanliness and the Wardens were always very helpful. Wonderful place for families to stay for a visit to Longleat Safari park and other attraction at the Park. I really enjoyed my 5 night stay.

Perfect Site

Just returned from 3 excellent days at Longleat, lovely warm welcome from the wardens, nothing was too much trouble for them. The site is immaculate as are the toilets, a credit to the wardens. Thank you for a lovely 3 days

Very disappointed

We visited this site in 2011 & had a very enjoyable stay. We were able to walk into Longleat early morning & evening with our little dog. However, we booked a return visit this week along with park tickets for the day, I rang & spoke to a member of the CC customer services regarding dog walking facilities as the reviews had stated we were no longer able to walk in the park. I was told specifically that they had an acre of dog walking available along with all the surrounding lanes. We arrived on site after an 85 mile journey in blazing sunshine, we pitched in a shaded area & settled down to relax, on walking around our pitch on the offside of the hard standing it was covered in cigarette butts from the next door caravan, while we were eating outside the neighbour's visitors children were playing football in the road in front of us - we moved pitches after tea ! We then went to find the dog walk - a trip through the Amazon would have been easier, we needed to take a machete with us! It was virtually unusable & with about four other dog walkers a total waste of time. The following morning my husband decided to try the lanes around the site - bad idea!! He nearly got run over twice by speeding cars & Longleat works traffic, he returned very quickly. We gave our park tickets away to a nice couple we had spoken to & left the site very disappointed & out of pocket. We felt that the Longleat CC site is now extremely UN DOG FRIENDLY & we will not be returning.

Great Site great stay

Had a 3 night stay and have re-booked to go again. The site is immaculate and the wardens are both friendly, helpful and are always busy. Was disappointed to find we could not access the Longleat Grounds for even a walk anymore. This is not a Caravan Club decision we were advised. We purchased reduced priced tickets via internet and then as we walked into the grounds a nice young lady advised we could not proceed without tickets. It turns out she could print them in the hut we were sorted.Spent some time in "The village" the Penguins were great, train ride good also and then the boat ride.Had to 'Q' a bit but expectable. We did not want to take car in with the Monkeys so was advised to book Safari Bus.This needs to be booked at Guest Services area and promptly as only 4 runs were on our day.Extra cost £5 each but well worth it as you see the Monkeys pulling wiper jets out and blades and breaking aerials.Over all great value for money,so good we traded our tickets in for an annual pass (day cost taken off total). We used one food outlet which was good and dont forget to download your vouchers from Caravan Club web site 20% of food outlets and 20% off retail outlets. We had our picture taken when going on the boat ride and decided to have the pics with info book/frame keyrings and access via net to the pics. £20 but with discount £16.We intent to do the house and grounds on next visit.Back to the site, chippy was good on Friday night if a bit slow with orders but good food and reasonable cost. The Wi-Fi was acceptable for emailing and small downloads but the site was fairly quiet during our stay and that could be the reason it was working ok.Would think a week is the max stay here these days unless you have a yearly pass or just want to explore the area in general. Overall fantastic few days, bit expensive but why not :)

Beware where you site

This is a lovely clean site, wardens friendly, nice dog walk adjacent, however the dog walk is spoilt by inconsiderate dog owners who seem to think it is someone else's job to clean up after their dog. Pity we are no longer able to walk around the ground !! unfortunately we found ourself parked near the approach road, which also serves as an longleat estate route for dumpers and heavy kit that started about 7 each morning waking us up.

Pleasurable

We have yet again spent a few days at this gorgeous site, with the added bonus of having the Longleat facilities next door. Staff were friendly and helpful always smiling. The site was as ever clean, tidy and respected by all visitors. Due to the long narrow access route arrival/departure times must be adhered to so book early and enjoy. Thank you and we shall return.

Great Site

This is a really lovely site, well maintained, very clean and friendly wardens. The loos and showers always had empty cubicles available - unlike some places where we have had to queue. A good central site to visit so many places.
