Great Site

This is a really lovely site, well maintained, very clean and friendly wardens. The loos and showers always had empty cubicles available - unlike some places where we have had to queue. A good central site to visit so many places.

Idealic site in beautiful location

This site is simply stunning, its kept, maintained and cleaned impeccably which in our experience is standard at caravan club sites. We had nothing to complain about and found the wardens to be amiable, knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. The shop stocked essentials and daily papers could be ordered which was handy. The chip van was invariably busy when it arrived and was reasonably priced. The sites location is perfect for a gentle stroll into the park and grounds. Frome is just a 5 minute drive away and has a large Asda supermarket. The Safari Park on the doorstep is a good visit, we got the discounted 2 day pass through the caravan club and this proved to be good value. Whilst here we also visited Bath, Glastonbury and Stonehenge, all in relatively comfortable driving distance and all well worth the visit. In short a great site in a great area and we would not hesitate to come back

Lovely Longleat :)

Most campers leave at the 1200 deadline, we arrived at 1230 with no issues but got our tab bent. Common sense really you don't want to get caught on the road inbound when a outbound van is on its way out, it is narrow in places. Road noise from park service vehicles but you are next to the park, Sealions and wolves can be heard:) Not enough showers, 4 per block male, same ladies. Some adjustment in your arrival time will miss busy periods. Cleaning is split, the ones near the play ground close mid afternoon, worked for us. Good play ground, handy for the park. Felt a 2day ticket enough to see all, guided tours of the house in the mornings gets you into the private rooms. After 1200 its open house but not the private rooms, so we visited the house twice. Good open and well spaced pitches, but some numpty moved our peg, so lesson learnt to check peg is in the right place! Never had this before. A day at Stonehenge(prebooked times slot you in for the bus ride to the site), then a day at Bath the Baths, the Circus and then No1 Queens Parade - great kids activity pack here, road works add to the journey, so don't follow the diversion keep going as if the road was not closed, you will be then taken off the closed road up a steep and winding road, its the way we came back. Bath traffic nightmare, we parked at the long stay but had aimed to park and ride. Then our final day was at Street Shopping Village, the Clarks Shoe factory, well worth a visit many bargains to be had, good playground, thus no shopping in bath itself. Dog walk is in woods, so boggy after rain so go prepared, many poo bins about, easy to walk up the main road during non peak traffic times. Only marked down due to too few showers(her nibs went to another block and didn't queue) and a bit of road noise(as said to be expected really). Overall a great site. Remember the Longleat discount CC tickets via the CC website link, and the money off vouchers for food/drink and toys from the shops - big savings. We took nibbles into the grounds during the day. Fav bit the bat cave, worst bit the monkeys they wreak your car. It is worth paying the bus fare if you are desperate to see the monkeys. They take even flush fit parts, fav items wipers, washer jets and pipes, rear wipers, rear washer jets, parking sensors and any plastic trim etc etc We were still driving past bits of peoples car in the Wolf section. Last but not least, cannot fault the current wardens, the site is a credit to them, they are there but not intrusive, very welcoming and open. You'd have to go far to find a better a site.

Excellent for visiting the attraction

This is an excellent site, located within a 5 minute walk of Longleat Safari Park, it's superb for visiting the park with small children to take advantage of the 2 day tickets. The club site is clean with really friendly wardens, what you would expect from a caravan club site.  As it's right next to Longleat it is a bit noisy with the sounds of seals and lions and echos of the music payed on various attractions, but it's what you get if you want a site right next to a safari park! An excellent stay was had by all, and I'd thoroughly recommend it for anyone wanting to visit Longleat.

A perfect site in perfect location

A big site but so peaceful. Immaculate facilities on site. Plenty on site for children of all ages. Right next to Lonleat park which is also fantastic. We purchased special offer 5 days entry to park. 2 adults and 2 kids about £145.00. A one day pass would be over £100 so this really is great value. Would highly recommend to any family. Wardens run activities for children on certain days, there is even a huge outdoor chess board, badminton net, grassed play area for ball games, wooden play area, indoor activity room with table tennis and a film early evening for children with warden present. Simply brilliant, our best family holiday with Caravan Club so far.

Longleat is GREAT!

After a very rocky start we enjoyed our visit to the safari park.  Due to road contruction our arrival was delayed and it was not easy to persuade the man on duty to let us on site.  Then we asked the same staff member the next morning where we could keep our caravan on Sunday, as the site will not let you leave it while you visit the park after 12pm, and he was very unhelpful.  Luckily, when we arrived at the park they told us you can leave your caravan there and even unhitch to go around the safari side of the park!  Yeah Longleat!!!  Overall our stay at the campsite was ok, but maybe they should train all the staff to know more about the safari park since it is the reason people come to stay.  Don't miss out - make sure you buy a 2-day pass, the safari park is glad to accomidate your caravan.  PS  They will even let you put your dog in a kennel on site.

Jewel in the crown of theCaravan Club

As a long standing member of the caravan club, I have visited many sites, but this has to be one of my favourites. The wardens were friendly, informative and worked exceedingly hard (as do others) at maintaining such a high level of cleanliness, repairs, etc. It is a very large site, but because of the way it is laid out, there is a lovely feeling of space and comfort. This site is a jewel in the crown for the caravan club. The lovely herb garden outside the site office is a bonus! providing an array of fresh herbs for people to pick, rather than having to buy loads at the supermarket. Giant chess set, children's playground, outdoors badminton and lots of long country walks. We live half an hour away, but we could have been anywhere. Easy access into Longleat estate and ask for the 20% off voucher which can be used for food, goods, sweets etc. We came with our 17 year old daughter and have booked two further weekends this summer. It was so lovely and peaceful we decided to stay an extra day this time. Thank you Caravan Club and Thank you Lord Bath! *****

What's not to like

Visited this site for a 2 night stay (it's not far from where we live) in May. The site is well kept, and the toilet/shower blocks are clean - as per usual for a CC site. Useful to know that they only clean 1 block at a time so there is always 1 available. We didn't visit the safari park as we took our dog, but we went on a really good walk to Heaven's Gate (sculptures in the Longleat Estate with good views over the estate, plus you can see some of the animals enroute), and then on to Shearwater Lake, where ther's a nice little tea shop. They have photocopies of the route in Reception and it's worth asking. We'll certainly return for further weekend breaks. Oh yes, you can hear the lions at night as well as the sea lions.

Great for a visit to safari park!

Just returned from 3 nights at longleat, the site itself is very clean and the staff very friendly. the  dog walk is sufficient and the kids play area is great, very clean and modern. longleat is literally a short walk around the corner, my advice is buy a two day pass if you have kids as there's plenty to do. We also visited Bath and got a two for one entry at the roman baths on producing our CC card. A saving of £14!. We would recommend this site and may return once our kids get older.....oh and you CAN hear both the lions and the sea lions in the evenings which completely baffled our springer spaniel!

Life with the lions

Just spent 7 enjoyable nights at this site. Please stick to the arrival times as the long narrow approach can make passing very difficult in places. There is every chance that if you arrive earlier than stated that you will have to reverse somewhere on the lane. The site is large, well shaded and very clean, The wardens are brilliant, they work so hard keeping the site clean, and they will help you with information about the area. These are amongst the very best wardens we have ever met. We did hear the sea lions each day but alas no lions. As for the site if you want to visit the house / safari park you need to book a day in advance to obtain the best deal. The lowest price can be found on the CC web page. We would suggest a two-day ticket as being the best deal, especially if you want a good look around the house and see the murals. Access to the park is restricted so no ticket, no entrance. The site is a long way from main roads, so you really need the car. You can forget walking to the pub. Take a bus tour of the safari park if you want to visit the monkeys and keep your car in one piece. The bus trip takes around 1.5 hours to 2 hours depending on park traffic and at £ 5 per head really good value. You need to book a seat at Guest Services where you buy your park ticket. You really learn a lot from the driver. We also visited Stonehenge. If you are going to visit, then arrive early, and visit the stones straight away. Once the tourists start arriving in their coaches the visitors centre and shuttle buses are quickly filled. We would recommend a trip to Old Sarum, a very interesting fort/ castle to the north of Salisbury.

We visited at the end of April and the road works on the A36 just past Bath were a nightmare. The road is closed and will be for months. The island at the end of the A46 Bath Road took ages to get around and once heading towards Bath there there a few signposts showing the diversions. Suggest you go to Junction 17 on M4 and take A350 to Warminster then follow local signs to Longleat and CC site. This is a much more pleasant journey.
