Lovely friendly site

Our first ever caravanning holiday was a sheer delight thanks to Martin and Sharon, and the other caravanners who so generously helped us to set up and get our holiday started. The site is spacious and spotlessly clean. We didn't have children with us but could see what fun the little playground would be. Martin and Sharon welcomed us warmly, and kept a very friendly eye on us during our stay - a big shout out to them for doing this, which we greatly appreciated. The great fun of this site is its proximity to Longleat. We saw the train from our caravan, and our caravan from the train. During the day you can hear the sealions and nearly every night you can hear the lions roar. Owls started hooting at soon as darkness fell. It was magical. It's easy to get to if you follow the signs and although some of the road is narrow, if we could do it towing a caravan for the first time, it can't be that difficult. Thank you everyone.

Lovely birthday weekend

We have just returned from this site. We stayed there from 09-11 October 2020 for my birthday. It was spotless; all the shower and toilet blocks were spotless and cleaned regularly. The recycling, and waste bins were emptied regularly and the waste water areas were cleaned throughout the day. The shower blocks were clearly marked to address the Covid problem, with a wristband system that ensured social distancing was kept. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We have a dog and there was no problem accessing the dog walk with plenty of poo bins around. The site was perfectly flat so we did not have to use our ramps for our caravan. There was plenty of space on the pitches. The internet and TV signals were Ok, but we were not bothered with this, as we were with friends and this was not important to us. There are plenty of walks around and we had a lovely meal in The White Hart pub, which is on the entrance to the drive to the site. Thank you.

Purrr-fect location

Great location with Longleat Safari Pask on the other side of the trees. Sea-lions and Lions were heard in the evenings when it was feeding time!! Facilities were great, phone signal was poor but hey I'm on holiday and probably need a healthy break from my phone. Lots to do nearby. Cheddar Gorge, Wells, Wookey Hole, Stonehenge. I will definitely be returning next year. Staff were polite on entrance and gave a great welcome. No issues at all!

Lovely Stay

We recently booked for a friday saturday night at Longlet site. What a lovely park it is. in the grounds of Longleaf, although we didn't go to Longleaf park as we have dogs, we had a lovely time walking the country lanes, peaceful and quiet, great facilities and the pleasure of waking up to the seals in the park barking away, how lovely. Thank you had a great stay. Toilets were all clean and tidy and coves safe, plenty of motorhome facilities to use, again all clean. Friendly staff always said hello as we walked past the reception and around the grounds. great restful time, just what we wanted.

Lovely site, unique location, shame the wardens were nor friendly and helpful

I’ve read many other reviews about this site and most of them says how friendly and helpful the wardens were. Unfortunately this was not our experience and it sadly tarnished our visit. We stayed at this site with the intention of visiting Longleat Safari and house grounds as I’m sure is the intention of many visiting. We stayed Friday - Sunday but unfortunately could not get booked in on Saturday. As we have a caravan, I visited reception on Saturday to ask of the possibility of leaving our van on site if they had space whilst we enjoyed our visit to Longleat. I approached the question with some haste as we had received a rather hostile ‘welcome’ for forgetting our membership card (we are new, it was our first stay and we all make mistakes.. this is a holiday after all). The request was met with a rude, dismissive and unhelpful response but eventually we came to an agreement that we could leave our van for the day given they were not fully booked - as long as it was all packed up and ready to go (which was of course the intention). We had no phone signal all day (unfortunately a draw back of the site which isn’t improved by WiFi access because the WiFi is absolutely terrible as suggested in other reviews). During a rare occasion when my phone received signal I received a missed call notification and a voicemail threatening that if we did not collect our van in ‘5 mins’ we would be charged another night (I received the voicemail 45 mins after it was left). This experience completely ruined the rest of our day at longleat, we headed back to collect our van (3.45pm) and dropped the key fob in the post box as requested. One of the wardens immediately came to collect the fob and aggressively shouted at us as we left. I didn’t stop to see what they said as I was quite upset by the whole situation. Aside from this, the site was nice and clean, had good (not excellent but good) facilities, plenty of room and the location is excellent for longleat. There isnt a huge amount to do other than longleat unless you have a car but there are plenty of places to walk and cycle and it’s a beautiful area. The acorn trees mentioned in other reviews are a pain - we stayed in September and quite a few acorns dropped on our van overnight but there are some pitches that you wouldn’t get this problem. Sadly we wouldn’t go back due to our experience (I’ve also just noticed the review below mine that was clearly met by the same staff)

Good Site But Some of the Staff very rude

Arrived late Friday evening and the staff on reception were very pleasant and as i have been here numerous times before we were quickly on our way to find a pitch. Found a pitch with an awning and parked up with at least 12 feet between my motorhome and the caravan next door who car was closest to us and their door was on the opposite side to ours so no chance of coming in to contact with them. Got the EHU plugged in and grand kids sorted as they needed to eat as it was late, then had a knock on the door asking if we can move 2feet, i have been here numerous times before and i understand the conditions with the pandemic but there was absolutely zero chance we would meet the guests on the next pitch and if we did we were well over 12 feet apart as there is also grass in between us then our pitch as we were still in from the edge by quite some distance. Having not want to then cause a scene i said i would do it once the kids had eaten. I explained this to my wife who just could not believe the reasoning behind it, our door opens to the right ie on the drivers side and theirs on the left so we had no chance of meeting, but with the huge distance between us anyway there was just no logical explanation behind this. We moved later that night anyway and then the next day the caravan left anyway. On leaving the site with our motorhome being an A Class its not possible to lean out the window to drop the keys in 2 boxes so i had to get out as usual and place the keys in each box. I then got back into my motorhome and got back in my seat with seatbelt on only to see the barrier come down. I beeped my horn to let them know only to be met with a rude, obnoxious person shouting over that i had take far too long to leave and the barrier was closed and then arguing over it saying that everyone managed to do it in time implying i just took my time. I can not see the logic behind this either as people that are disabled or not that mobile would of taken a lot longer than myself and i was by no means slow. A simple "no problem i'll just open it" would of been nice but of course this was not to be. I will now question returning to this site as it was spoilt by 2 male individuals who really need to be trained better in acting/speaking and dealing with members of the public.

Vodafone and WiFi signal almost non-existent

We were very disappointed to find our phones (Vodafone) didn't work on site so planning ahead was impossible. We realise this is not the fault of the club but it was a big irritation! This would be a great site for families. The site has many trees so was generally shady. We didn't use the showers or loos so can't comment on them. Access is down a long, narrow lane so adhering to the arrival and departure times is important.

The lion (doesn't) sleep tonight!

We really enjoyed our two night 'journey breaker' stay here (17 - 19 September) and would certainly return again, especially if we were going to go for a day in the safari park. As it was, the singing sealion, roaring lions in the evening, and even the sightng of a tapir when out on a dog walk, all made the experience that bit different. The small dog walk area adjoining the site is nontheless interesting for a short leg stretch for pooch and owner. The biggest downside is that despite the beautiful surrounding countryside, you’ve got to put in some on the road leg work to access it and the road is both narrow and quite busy with fellow arriving/departing tourers and commercial vehicles. There is a lovely bridlepath to be found about half a mile on heading back along the site access road on the right hand site which leads uphill into beech, ash and oak woodlands which offered some lovely views across open countryside too. We would echo many of the previous comments made by others about the 'band system' for access to facilities, but that's as much about the thoughtfulness (or lack of) from other guests as it is site management. Facilities were clean, site well maintained, and although we got to hear some tales about feral children running amok before we arrived, it seems the wardens dealt with the situation... perhaps there's a new enclosure in the safari park...

Good holiday

We have just returned from 4 nights at Longleat. The site is clean, level and we had a choice of pitches (sun or shade). Feeding time for the sealions is a constant reminder of the closeness of Longleat Safari Park (walking access outside the main gate). Our only comment, and this is not about the staff who were very helpful and approachable, but the band system for the toilets/showers can get abused at times. We often found bands on hooks but no-one on the facilities. We appreciate that there needs to be a way of limiting the numbers during this pandemic, so more help from all of us would be a good idea.

Wonderful Break

We have just spent a lovely few days here and we found excellent cycle rides, virtually traffic free, from the site both to Frome and around the park. It is a lovely, peaceful site and the wardens were very helpful. We will definitely come back once the safari park is back to full open.
