Handy Stopover

We regularly use this site as a stopover when travelling up & down the country from our home in Inverness. Melrose is a beautiful little town and the site is perfectly located for access to pubs, restaurants and shops, and with an excellent butcher on the doorstep. Haven't got around to walking up the Eildon hills yet, but need to make time to do so at some point. A very busy site, so book your pitch early!

Melrose Caravan Club Site ..... a real gem!

This was our first visit to Melrose using the site as a stop over enroute to Edinburgh. We were more than pleasantly surprised by the quality of the site, the warm welcome and the great location on the edge of the town. Pitches were well maintained and although we had a pitch slightly overlooked by local houses that didn't detract from the experience. There are many walks and possibilities for cycling and the town has an interesting array of pubs and places to eat out. It was a shame we had to leave after just one night. We are planning a longer stay next year which will be enhanced by the Border Railway opening later this year within a mile or so of the site. Highly recommended!

Great wee site

This was one of the best sites we have been on and its a short stroll to get to the shops. The site was kept immaculate and the toilet block was spotless. The only downside was a small yapping dog which started early morning and continued for most of the day. Nothing to do with the site management but I wish people would be a little more considerate.

Pleasant Site close to Town Centre

This site is quite small and compact.  It had some beautiful floral displays in keeping with the rest of the town, which is a Britain in Bloom Gold Medal winner.  The site is flat and reasonably level, but one or two pitches did tend to hold water after the persistent rain we "enjoyed".  There are no overhanging branches on which birds could roost - so no mess or loud noises during the night!  The pitches go right back to the hedge, which has some benefits during windy weather, but means that the Wardens can only cut the hedge when no-one is pitched there.  The toilet block was clean, but a bit tired and in need of some TLC/refurbishment.  The wardens were very helpful and offered local knowledge when requested. The walk to the shops only takes about 2 minutes from the entrance, and there are plenty of dining out opportunities close by.

Excellent Site

Melrose is an excellent site. The staff were so helpful and friendly. The site was clean and well maintained. Even though I arrived with a sprained ankle we really enjoyed our stay and Melrose itself is a lovely place to visit and the site is conveniently on the doorstep. Hope to return when fully fit and able to explore the town on two feet!!

Excellent caravan club site

This is the best site we have stayed on . The wardens are very friendly and helpful and they look after the site very well . Toilets and showers are spotless and lovely and warm, plenty hot water. There are plenty eating places in Melrose and they are all very good . We are coming back to this site in September so that we can travel to Edinburgh on the new Borders Railway which opens on the 5th September.

Great site

Excellent site with friendly, helpful wardens. From the moment of arrival it's pretty obvious that the site is well maintained, clean and tidy. The beautiful flower tubs and baskets were an added delight. Plenty of interesting walks and places to visit nearby. On the doorstep is Melrose itself so go enjoy and explore.

A lovely site

We visited Melrose Gibson Park in July, we actually arrived at the park 2 days earlier then we had booked as we had to leave the site we were on before as the midges were driving us crazy.  Firstly, no midges at Melrose Gibson Park. The wardens were really helpful and found room for us, even though the site was really busy.  We really appreciated this.  The wardens were really friendly and made us feel very welcome. The site is level, flat, beautifully kept, the shower block was exceptionally clean and hot water was plentiful.  There were beautifully planted up tubs in front of the shower block which looked really pretty. The location of this site is great too, it's only a 2 minute walk into Melrose which has everything you could ask for, there are shops selling everything you could need. Pubs and restaurants. We were visiting the area to do some mountain biking and the site was really well placed for visits to Glentress (17 miles away) and Innerliethen (slightly closer). I would recommend anyone to visit this beautiful campsite, there really is something for everyone.

Our stay in July

A very tidy site, nice and flat with good facilities, plenty hot water in the toilet block. The proximity to the town and visitor attractions was a big bonus. A good park next door with plenty for the kids and tennis courts for more energetic adults. Coffee shops, bars, restaurants and takeaways all within a few minutes stroll. The wardens were welcoming and helpful. Would recommend a visit to this site if you're planning a visit to the Scottish borders.
