A Great Site

We enjoyed our weeks stay here. The wardens are very helpful and pleasant and all the usual Club facilities, are kept to a high standard. It is great for children with a large play area hidden by trees from the caravans near to it. The comment about the roadway in are a little exaggerated, yes there are parts of it which require some filling in, but you should not be driving that fast anyway to do any damage. Lots to do around the site on the island, would recommend Benllech beach or Red Wharf Bay beach too. We would certainly come back.

Great Site

After reading some of the reviews on here, we were a bit weary of booking this site but, after spending 2 nights here we found it to be very clean, quiet, had everything we needed and a very friendly place to stop. After the comments on the state of the drive, wrecking our outfit are a bit far fetched, yes it is uneven and could do with resurfacing, it is not as bad as that reviewer made out! Would definitely stay here again!

Great play area

We liked it here very much. Our pitch was in the middle of other caravans, on the grass - a little strange, but added to the camping feel. The play area was really lovely. Lots to do in the area. We would love to go back.

Another good break

As usual, another excellent weekend break at Penrhos. The wardens are very helpful and go out of their way to make sure you have everything you have a good stay. Love the dog field where I can try to tire our two spaniels out, never works though. Look forward to our next stay.

No title as I find it a little silly

Site is good but we didn't stay in main part as too big and close together, I like grass pitches but not on slopes. I thought the toilet block was ok, clean and hot running water, however the smell from the sewer area next to the block was very unpleasant. As someone else mentioned, no need for traffic calming humps as the pot holes in the dive slowed anyone up. People also let their dogs off lead in the dog walk area and unfortunately our little dog was pounced upon, the owner apologised. well kept site, and would visit again, very reasonable price even in high season.

Oh dear

Oh dear this site does need some serious renovation. The shower block is very tired and dated and the smell from the sewage holding tanks next to the toilet block is dreadful and drifts across the hardstandings nearest to the block. The access road to the site is potholed and needs resurfacing so beware as it could damage your outfit. Also there is no security barrier here and there were some dubious characters driving round the site at night so don't leave things out on your pitch. Good points are that the site is in a good location for visiting the Island and there are hardstandings which we needed due to the very wet weather we encountered.

Wales tour 2015

Another great location and central enough to tour the island. Have to agree with other reviews toilet block does need upgrading and some pitches are not suitable for motorhomes as a result of the slopes involved these are mainly grass pitches. As I'm a golfer Strows Wen golf club is less than a mile from the site and well worth playing enjoyed my round there and played with the seniors group who meet Tuesday & Thursday. It's a site we will visit again and is easy to find. Most of the roads around Anglesey are easy to drive with motorhome and few scary moments.

Penhros site in need of TLC

Just spent 5 nights on this site.  As usual the wardens were excellent & the location very good.  However the toilet facilities, although cleaned well, are in need of renovation as they are tired.  The showers are small & all the floor gets wet.  Nasty smells linger around the toilet block from time to time. Some grass pitches have a huge slope & totally unsuitable for my motor home which was inconvenient as no hard standing pitches were available.  In summary we had an excellent holiday but the site facilities are not up to the standard of most club sites.

So many great places to visit.

We stayed at Penrhos Caravan Club site for 6 nights. The site has separate fenced in field for safe off lead quick walk and play for the dogs before hitting a great beach. The toilet block has everything you need though having just been at the Willingcot Site, Woolacombe, with it's brand new toilet block, this is dated but perfectly functional and clean as you would expect. The reception has a map with wifi spots marked on, which is most of the site and also a map showing where the shops, dog friendly beaches/pub etc are and also sells a good wedge of Bara Brith cake. But all you need is a map out of the info shed called Isle of Anglesey Attractions and you're ready to explore. There is a Tesco Express in Benllech which has ridiculously silly parking, but does have a chilled alcohol fridge, there are also takeaways, a Co Op, a cheescake shop, American diner and The Crab Shop for fresh catches. It takes about 45 mins to drive from one end of Anglesey to another so everything is within visiting distance of the site. We recommend the following, all dog friendly: The Ship Inn and The Boathouse Bistro at Red Wharf Bay, park at Benllech and walk for miles on the sandy beach to Red Wharf Bay if you like. In Benllech a visit to the Bay Cafe and Bistro should be included. Up North at Church Bay there is a little beach and a coastal walk with The Wavecrest Cafe and The Lobster Pot Cafe/Bistro for some fresh catches. Rhosneigr has another big beach and lots of little cafes, we tried Sandy's Bistro, lovely. Park for free in the library car park there. A must visit in Rhosneigr is The Oyster Catcher Cafe/Bar/Bistro, doesn't look overly inviting from the car park but if you have a dog go up the steps on the left and choose yourself a lovely beach hut to sit and have your meal, lots of doggy water bowls available, no need to take your own. Then there is Newborough Forest, £4 to park with walks in the wood or along the large beach, dogs to the left here and usually an ice cream van here too. For some local fresh produce a visit to Hooton's Homegrown Farmshop, Brynsiencyn, is a must, local pies, meats, burgers, cakes, veg, etc etc and a cafe with outdoor seating too all to a view of Snowdonia. Molefre has a few little shops and of course a pub to site outside to watch the sea as you drink a pint, The Kinmel Arms and also Anns Pantry. Beaumaris Castle isn't dog friendly but we are sure it is lovely, does have lots of little shops though. We're off to South Stack Lighthouse today, we presume it'll be a good walk. There isn't a pub in walking distance though from the site. We'll be back.

Lovely Site.

We enjoyed our last week on this site, was a peaceful site at the time we stayed but the play area was wonderful and out little one approved of it.   The staff were friendly and helpful and always seemed to be smiling.  I would visit again and would recommend this site if you were looking to visit the area.
