First Visit To Penrhos and loved it!

This was our first stay on Anglesey and we really enjoyed our stay. The Site was ideally located for our plan to walk the coast path and we did not have to travel far in order to reach the coast. Lovely sea views, people friendly. We particularly enjoyed our frequent visits to Bradley's Cafe in Benllech, especially the bacon rolls and cakes. Also, we had a lovely meal at the Boat House in Redwarf Bay. The site is fairly quiet although be aware of the static caravan site adjacent to this site as it does get a bit noisy at times. We moved pitch after one night and this was no problem for the Wardens, but be mindful of the new hard stands as they haven't settled yet so pegs came out quite easily. The only downside was the toilet/shower block which is very dated and in need of refurbishment although it was kept very clean by the wardens. We plan to return in October to carry on with the coast path walk.

Lovely, As ALWAYS

After several visits to this lovely site we can still say that it is our absolute favourite. I am surprised that the facilities have been criticised as we have always found them to be perfectly satisfactory & kept very clean. The wardens work extremely hard to keep the site up to standard & we love their new "boat herb garden". The site is always so peaceful - even when it is busy - and it is a perfect retreat for us. So thank you wardens & the club.

The site that was forgotten

Having visited this area a number of times in the past always staying on Cae Mawr, we thought on this occasion we would take advantage of this site having a shower block and stay here. How disappointing, from the delayed arrival time of 13:00 for no apparent reason, to the general tiredness of the whole site, a shop that ISN’T open ‘all day’ to the far from usable Motorhome service point and only one chemical closet emptying point. We stayed for 5 nights and only saw one of the four wardens doing a ‘walk round’ at 9am and 5pm. Whilst very old the toilet block was kept very clean, but the rest of the site was neglected, our hard standing pitch had tufts of grass growing all over it, the 5mph signs on the road had all but disappeared and the sleeping policeman on the entrance road didn’t stand out due to the painted chevrons having worn off. Overall, in comparison to lots of our sites, this one is badly neglected and we will be back to Cae Mawr next time we visit Anglesey.

Great Site

This is the second time we have been to this site, the last time five years ago.Now there are some serviced pitches and the high grassy area has been turned into hard standings. The showers are a bit dated ,but in very good condition and impeccably clean..Actually the shower heads are away from the wall over your head so for me being a six footer ,this is ideal.Water pressure was great too.In the more modern shower blocks the shower head is fixed to the wall and normally too low.For me washing my hair runs the risk of touching the hot pipes. The wardens were excellent and helpful. The arrival time is 1pm but this is because the driveway is quite narrow. We got there for 12.30 not knowing this and met a caravan coming out having been turned away. But we went to turn around and were let in.Good timing i guess. Overall a lovely site and well placed for exploring the island. There is a Coop and Tesco express in Benllech only ten minutes away. And in LLangefni -only ten minutes in the other direction ,is a Lidl,Aldi and Asda. We had visitors staying in our awning (only £7.50 pp a night) and had bought a new airbed. Then found out our pump was inadeqaute. Not knowing there were pumps in Asda ,we went to The Range in Bangor, but were still there and back in under an hour. We travelled from Southport,Formby Bypass,Gateway Bridge (no charge for Caravans) M56 and A55.The only slight holdup was the Britannia bridge which is more or less the only single lane road on the whole journey. So much to see there,i think we will be making Penrhos an annual visit!

Efficient welcome?

Visited this site many times. Wardens usually friendly and efficient. Not this time. Signs posted making it clear not to arrive before 1pm and if you do, turn around and go away. Same on telephone when booking. Oh dear. Not the Friendly club on this occasion. Otherwise a nice site, toilet block well looked after, if dated.

Easter Break 2019

We have had a lovely Easter break I would well recommend this site, yes the facilities are a little dated but they were always clean and tidy and the showers were the best showers I’ve used on a site they were powerful and hot felt like I was having a massage after a good day climbing Snowdon. The dog walking facilitates were also a plus for me as there was a bridle path at the side of the site and a dog field on site that you can actually let your dogs off the lead. As we have 2 cocker spaniels they love a run. Another plus for me was the views they were beautiful, lots to do some beautiful beaches and a lovely National Trust place nearby. The staff were really friendly and helpful also, lovely site would definitely recommend.

March stay

Stayed in late March and had fantastic weather. The staff were lovely. The facilities were clean. Some people comment that the site facilities are dated. However, nothing was broken or dirty. The showers were lovely and hot (easily adjusted for personal choice) and powerful. The shower block and dishwashing room were both well heated. Hubby enjoyed washing up in the warm! The site was about 1/3 full, so not sure what it is like when the site is full. We loved it. Pub, California Inn, is in walking distance, 0.8 miles away. We found it very welcoming. The on site shop has the usual basics but there is a Tesco Express and a Co-op in Benllech, only 3 miles away. Lovely beach at Benllech, with a kiosk selling hot and cold drinks, ice creams etc. There is a nice looking pub near Tesco, but we did not try it. Great access to fabulous walks, the coastal path is superb. If you are into archaeology there are many fabulous sites to visit. Plas Newydd is also worth visiting, for the gardens and the amazing Whistler painting. Wonderful site would stay again.

Spring Stay

Pleasant welcome from all staff. Well kept site very neat and tidy. Toilet facilities dated but clean. Great showers but not good ratio of shower/privacy cubicles or toilets/hand dryers and soap dispensers. Excellent dog exercise area. All in Ll a very enjoyable stay.

Very Dated.

Only 1 Chemical disposal point.. very far from top of the site. perhaps a couple more when putting in the service pitches might have helped? motorhome service point difficult to access. Toilet block very dated with missing grouting in showers and Wcs floors.not very hygenic. site very good for dogs with good exercise field and bridleway access at top of site. Road to Benllech and Bryteg is too dangerous to walk as fast traffic, blind bends and no footway.
