wardens must be WARDENS OF THE YEAR

Great site, fantastic wardens the only downside is that the services block is a bit dated and needs modernisation. This was our fourth summer here and we will return.

OK but wouldn't rush to go back

We stayed at this site for a week during May half term. We are relatively new to caravanning but this was our 6th trip away in it. I would say this was the busiest site we have been to. Obviously with it being half term, there were more people out and about. We chose a pitch next to the children's play park at the request of our own children, which in the main wasn't an issue, except for a few loud, potty-mouthed youngsters (probably only about 12 years old) who lowered the tone of the site. Not pleasant to hear and I certainly don't enjoy my children hearing such foul language. The park area itself was very good, with a large grassed area for football etc to keep the older ones entertained and some smaller equipment for the little ones. Unfortunately there was also a family who sited themselves directly opposite us, who didn't seem to notice its 2 really annoying yapping dogs at all hours of day - morning, noon and night - yap, yap yap!!! We always see lots of dogs and their owners and they are usually very respectful of noise nuisance and cleaning up after their pets. Couldn't fault any of the sites facilities - all exceptionally clean and tidy. I'm not one for moaning about a slightly dated decor - as long as the place is clean - which this was. This was our first trip to Anglesey and the site was in a great location for exploring the island - fantastic local beaches and walks. We took in the sights of Beau Maris, Holyhead and further afield Llandudno. An OK site but not one of my favourites so far and wouldn't rush to come back.

Lovely Site

In the hot weather the shade from our pitch under the trees was lovely. The dog field area was great - as was the walk up the bridal path directly from the site. Although the site was very full it was peaceful & relaxing. We had booked for 3 nights, but enjoyed it so much that we actually stayed for 5 nights. We will come back!

Lovely visit

Just returned from another fab visit, we had a caravan blow out on way so phoned ahead to say we may be late. Wardens were so very helpful - thanks to you all guys. We love this site - very clean and friendly - all 4 wardens are great, hard working and will help you in any way they can - you only need ask. Site very close to all resorts - quiet and well kept. Love the new pitches on the hill - looks great - look forward to new shower block next season. Current shower block may be old, but spotlessly clean. Just hope new block has more showers than they currently have. All wardens work hard to keep place looking nice and are not afraid to approach folk not abiding by the rules. We’re back again in August - can’t wait. Thanks again guys. JanDav9 Caravaner

Another good stay

Once again great to meet up with the lovely wardens - always friendly, helpful and smiling. Lovely hard standings now on the mound - shame no new loos this year but the ones they have are lovely and warm, very clean and well serviced. Hope new block when built will have more showers and 1 or 2 less loos abs cubicles as there is never a queue for these but sometimes a queue for a shower - otherwise everything fine. Lovely site, wardens are happy, smiley folk and will always help you. We’re booked again for another 2 visits this year as location is fab and we like the site. Don’t know why folk complain - if you don’t like it - don’t go - but I definitely will. It’s a caravan/motorhome site not a 7 star hotel. Thanks to wardens for keeping ‘some’ dog owners aware of the rules re exercising pets s on the park - there is an exercise field out front. Well done you! See you again soon.

Great Quiet Site

We have just returned from an excellent week long stay at the site. Met up with the Warden's from last year, that was nice. The site has undergone some major work in that the large field has been set out with hard standing pitches and some fully serviced pitches have been created on existing hard standing pitches. Yes the toilet block is due to be modernized but I do take exception to some of the comments that it is out dated, it is not, it is warm, very clean and inviting. I really don't know what people expect, they should try some of the commercial sites and they would soon see that Caravan Club site facilities are very good in comparison. Once again the Wardens are very good they are pleasant and worked hard to keep the site up to standard that included not being afraid to advise people when they had strayed from the published rules etc. Well done see you again later in the year.

Good but not great

Stayed for 2 nights march 2018, site has had improvements made and will soon have fully serviced pitches which we prefer, we stayed on the newer pitches up on the hill the pitch was a good size and had a veiw although it could be a bit windy, the problem we saw was that the road you drive around was not wide enough for large outfits or motorhomes. We watched 3 caravans cut over the grass which left tyre impressions which when muddy looked messy. Now instead of the wardens widening the corners the have put in wooden stakes with chain fencing which will surly be damaged ( bad idea ) the toilet block was a little outdated but clean, there is a dog walk on site which is a good size the wardens also very keen to let you know that all dogs should be on a lead even if they are lying outside your van, overall will visit again and try out the fully serviced pitches when open.

A belated review

I have just booked a pitch at Penrhos for later this year. This will be our 5th visit. When we visited in early May last year our only disappointment was that it was so wet and only grass pitches were available and we got stuck trying to site our caravan. However another member was leaving a hard standing pitch late in the day and the wardens kindly agreed to us moving onto that pitch as we planned to say for 10 days. As always all of the facilities were in excellent condition. I would agree with other reviewers that the WI FI facilities were very poor. Whilst we were there my wife was taken ill and we needed to use the disabled facilities. We were happily supplied with the appropriate key and regular enquiries were made by the wardens as to my wife's situation. When we decided to return home early there was no problem with obtaining a refund. The area is lovely with many places to visit both on the island and close by on the mainland. We are looking forward to seeing the improvements to the site on our visit in June.

A very good site.

We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of August 2017. The site facilities were clean and at no time did we notice a smell around the facilities which others have mentioned. There is a good mixture of grass and hardstanding pitches. The TV reception is good but not perfect & I'd like to see TV points on the bollards along with the EHU. There is good dog walk from the site via a path at the back of the site & there is also a large on site dog walking field. When we were there the school holidays were still in full swing so there were a lot of kids around the site. There is a play area for the kids. Given that Penrhos is such a large site it would be good if they had an adults only section which we would have used. The site is good for all the beaches of Anglesey. But there is no shop or Pub within the local area. If they had an adult only section & TV points on the bollard then this would improve the site further. We will use Penrhos again & I can recommend it.
