Another Brilliant Visit

This is our third visit to Putts Corner, we come every year as our daughter lives in Honiton, a lovely site, the wardens are very friendly and even remembered us from the year before, we visited Seaton, Sidmouth, Beer and Branscome, this time, which are all very beautiful. there is a great dog walk on site in a wooded area, but there is a very large gap which needs fencing off from the road, there is a great pub and eating house, a very short walk from the site, and dog friendly, our favourite pub was the Blue Ball fantastic food. The Wi Fi was hit and miss, it seems a common problem on this site. We had lovely fish and chips which you can order from the site on a Wednesday and Friday. I think its a quiet site, not too much noise.

A site NOT to be missed !

This is a super site and although busy is very quiet with plenty of room between pitches and landscaped in such a way as to create the impression that the site is much smaller than it is . The site is well cared for and the facilities are immaculate . The icing on the cake for us was that The Wardens take it in turns to go and fetch scrumptious fish and chips / well done / twice a week . It pays to always refer to your Caravan Club Site Book as the directions to this site are not what you would think ! have been carefully thought out to ensure that when you arrive you have had the safest and most convenient route minimising disruption through narrow roads and pretty villages much better explored without a caravan on the back of your car ! There are lots of beautiful places to visit from this site as it is so centrally located ACTUALLY I'm not sure why I'm ranting and raving about this site as now you will all want to go and it will make my next booking SO much harder re availability ! tee hee . ENJOY

One of the best sites!

Lovely quiet site. Facilities are all spotless as is the site. The dog walking area is lovely but no good for letting your dog run as it's not fenced off from the road, we went to area to the right of campsite gate, away from road. Very friendly staff, lovely pub up the road and close to many visiting hotspots. We will defiantly be back next year!!!

Our 3rd visit

A great site for us when visiting friends and family. Lovely that the wardens remember you from previous visits. Even though the site was busy with a group booking there was no waiting in the shower blocks or dish washing area. Lovely and clean as usual. Good easy access to Exeter and Honiton by bus Lots of places to visit close by, try Otterton Mill and the walk to Budleigh. Small play area for young children so would not suit all families

Lovely place but poor wi-fi

I am not an internet moron but like to have access to the internet to trawl places of interest, bus timetables etc. This is not possible here as the Wi-Fi is virtually non-existent. My wife sat under an aerial on site and got a signal but moving away it got lost. IU contacted Air Angel, the internet service provider who agreed to give me a refund of the £25 annual charge I paid (cheaper than 3 single weeks at £10) as they could not sort the problem out but after 10 days no refund and I cannot get a contact number as the Caravan Club website is the most tortuous and useless site I have ever come across. The caravan site has been improved since my last visit 2 years ago with mains water and a new toilet block and the higher one refurbished. Lovely location except he local farmer decided to mow the fields opposite and plump slurry on them, which has left a smell of sewage across the site for over a week now. throw in a mix of weather, mostly bad, has not helped so we are going home early to hopefully retrieve few days doing something useful. A good site for seeing the local countryside and I heartily recommend the Honiton Road Park and Ride to get in to the city of Exeter. Get the local bus guides from the Stagecoach Information Centre at the Exeter Bus Station and you will have a ball. Hare and Hounds Pub up the road is extremely busy these days after the big extension was built and seems to attract a lot of flies and noisy children. The 52B bus stops at the Hare and Hounds which is useful for getting into Sidmouth as parking is horrendous. The Wardens are lovely people, the eggs on sale are to die for and the site is maintained to perfection.

Peaceful break

Have just spent 2 nights at this site, it was easy to locate. The wardens are extremely pleasant and helpful. The site is very well maintained with fantastic toilet blocks- modern, clean and spacious showers! The dog walk on site is a nice wooded trail, very easy access to the local pub. Bus service very close by to sidmouth and exeter. I certainly will stay here again, in fact am booked in for the sidmouth fol festival in August!

Brilliant wardens

Just had six nights at this lovely site. The wardens  go out their way to help you. We had nice quite pitch but think this is where you pitch if you go nearer the road you can expect it to be noisier. The wardens fetch fish and chips in twice a week and they are well worth a try. This is a really lovely woodland site it is not overcrowded and  have good size pitches we will be back thankyou wardens

Excellent site but....

Lovely area. Lots to see and do. Walking in area very good. Wardens very friendly. Clean and well kept. However, quite noisy at times - can hear A30 at times and several noisy dogs (and we have a dog - who is kept quiet!). Some ? members do not seem to understand 5mph signs or to have any regard for others - see also dogs! Wi fi, as stated in another review, and acknowledged by warden, is dire. Writing this has taken ages : mainly through waiting for pages to load (frequent 'cannot load' messages but then loads!). If I were paying £10 per month for this service at home, let alone £10 for a week's access, I would be changing supplier! But overall a nice site in a nice place with good wardens.

Lovely Area but a bit crowded onsite

This is a great area to visit with lots of lovely towns, villages, beaches and countryside all around. Onsite, there are a lot of pitches squeezed in and you can feel a little crowded especially with the number of tall trees and hedges. You may also need heavy duty leveling blocks for wheels and steadies as some pitches slope a lot! Not really a problem as long as you expect it before you arrive. Toilets are spotless and site is kept very tidy. Wardens are out most days cutting and trimming to keep it all in order. WiFi is dreadful even if you are next to an aerial. Google took about 30 seconds to load let alone get any searching done. I gave up in the end. TV signal via an aerial is good, but Satellite will depend on your pitch because of the tall trees. Lastly there is quite a bit of aircraft traffic which flies quite low directly above the site on the way to Exeter. Not too noisy but again if you expect it you wont be surprised.

Cracking Wardens

Can't speak too highly of the wardens at Putts Corner, always there, friendly, kind, helpful and put themselves out for you. I left equipment on the pitch when leaving and a prompt call to my mobile whilst en route home to Worcester saved me a long trek back when they told me what I had done. Thanks Debbie and Keith.....you're stars. Shade from trees can be an issue for certain pitches on this site whilst others get the sun all day. It's a matter of choosing wisely when arriving!! Also the Wi-fi could be so much better whereas the TV signal is the best so far encountered on any CC site. The local pub, The Hare and Hounds does a cracking carver and menu and you should not be disappointed. The £1 discount on main meals for CC members is also helps to enjoyment. Discount cards are available at Reception. Local buses run via the Hare and Hounds pub into Sidmouth and Honiton and Exeter and Exmouth are also accessible. Buses are clean but punctuality for us was a little erratic due to the density of traffic particularly around Sidmouth. Taken in your stride this should not be a problem. Toilet blocks are immaculate as is the site generally. Go enjoy.
