Easter 2015

Good points:  Great Location Good pub within walking distance Nice, tidy site Bad Points: Shower pressure very poor Not enough service points Directions from Bristol awful, don't follow as these take you down small, hilly B roads Overall, I would use again but could be improved

Only two service points, poor showers, power cuts.

We've been going to this site for years, this was our first visit after the massive £1.7 Million refurbishment. The site seems more packed in, whilst we were there we had a couple of power cuts but it was Easter.  In an attempt to save water the showers have been rendered useless with fine needle of water, it's possible to stand in the centre and not get wet. A lot of pitches have been made "Serviced pitches"  but for the rest of us there are just two service points which means walking  long distances carrying toilets and water.

Simply gorgeous

What an amazing find, perfect location, handy for lots of places to visit, walk etc. (Exeter, Exmouth, Charmouth, Sidmouth, Axminster etc). Wardens extremely helpful and friendly, sorted out power cut very promptly(even though Bank a Holiday). Facilities immaculate and site very well maintained - loved it will definitely be back - best one yet Laughing

Good location

First stay at this site in East Devon. Lovely location but car needed to get round the area as roads really too narrow for Motorhome wanting to keep both wing mirrors. Site is well laid out and toilet block very clean.  Only one problem with site was regular power cuts day and night. Reported and told it was because everyone pulling too much power with heating but not had this in colder weather on other sites.

Helpful wardens

Arrived in our new campervan which, although bought at the end of last season, was our first time out. Hence we'd forgotten all we'd been told about the controls particularly the heating. Wardens (both of them!) came to the rescue and got us up and running. Very helpful and saved us from getting frost bite!

Our 2nd visit

This was our second visit to this site when we stayed in March, the facilities are great, helpful staff, the site is convenient for bus routes or walking and there is a popular pub just up the road. If you want to eat Sunday lunch make sure you book a table.

Great Location for exploring East Devon

We had a great 4 days at this site in late March 2015. Quiet, peaceful and well maintained. It was handy for exploring Exeter with its "Park and Ride" facilities ( free with a Bus Pass) . Happy to go back again in the future. Near by pub was OK for a meal, good carvery.

First time at this site, but not the last

The site was clean, and tidy. The Wardens helpful and welcoming. The pub being only a very short walk away meant we did very little cooking - breakfast only. TV reception was good. The pitches are level and dry, the road layout works well. The ability to let yourself in and out is good so no early curfew. There are ample places to take the dog for a walk without the need to drive anywhere always a plus for me. Top toilet block was closed, so a short walk to the main block was the only very minor irritation. We enjoyed our stay and we will be back.

Plenty of space out of season

We describe ourselves as quite adventurous - we prefer certified sites and taking the caravan abroad - going as the wind blows us and deciding on the day where we might go next! Therefore we use Club sites quite infrequently - disliking lond straight ranks of 'vans! However they've made a good attempt at Putts Corner to create different areas and levels - rather than a boring flat field. Visiting in mid March it was nicely half empty -with ample scope to find an uncrowded slot. Were it high season with the plots located cheek by jowel - we would give it a wide berth. However the facilties are spotless - though its a shame they close the upper toilet blocks outside high season - its a quite long walk down the hill to the other by main reception. The Hare and Hounds pub has good real ales and the carvery whilst not our usual first choice was excellent value and quality. There is a private footpath throught the woods to get there (3 mins). The dog walk is good and the site very well placed for exploring Sidmouth and East Devon generally. The staff were exceptionally pleasant, helpful and kind.

An Early Spring Get Away

We arrived here on the first day of the new season, the wardens had worked really hard to waken the site from it's winter hibernation and present a fantastic clean and tidy site, everything you'd expect from a Caravan Club site. The area around the site is outstanding and we particularly like Sidmouth and Beer.
