Been many times now

A local site for us, about 45 mins away, this time was to try out a new van for 3 nights. The site is always well kept & toilet block clean. It is a prime site for people travelling to have an overnight stay as A1 is only 1 mile away. Plenty to do nearby, Richmond is lovely, and some nice drives out. For motorhomers there is a bus stop right outside the site entrance.

Great Stop over and Access to attractions in the North

Harry gave us a very warm welcome.  Spotlessly clean toiler block, if not a little dated - everything worked.  Small fantastically maintained pretty site.  Will use again on our trips up North.

We will return.

Lovely site, conveniently situated with a great view, clean tidy and well organised by helpful friendly wardens. Stayed five nights and will go back. Richmond is a wonderful town to explore and lots of historical places to visited in the surrounding area. We didn't notice the road noise reported in some reviews, maybe the road works on the A66 helped to reduce it but we fully intend to return to continue our exploration of the area.

Lovely little Site!!

We were pleased to visit the site again from 20-24 July. The location of this site is ideal for easy access to the Yorkshire Dales, Harrogate, York and The Lakes. Although quite small, the site is spacious and meticulously maintained by Mary and Harry, the Wardens. Our stay coincided with major roadworks on the A66 yet, on balance, the noise was minimal, the diversions were nightly and not really an issue and the improvements to that stretch of the A66 were excellent. New visitors to this lovely little site really need to be aware that the A66 is very close and is a major road across the Pennines therefore the amount of noise will be proportionate to the amount of traffic. We will undoubtedly return whenever we can!!

A good site

The toilet block is dated but was spotlessly clean. The site it self is well maintained. Because of its location there is some road noise but no worse than many other sites. There is road maintenance on the A66 which was causing a noise and access problems this has now moved further along. A site to revisit in the future.

A great first experience

We stayed at this site having just collected our first caravan. The welcome and advice we received was absolutely superb. All our newbie questions were answered with a smile and some excellent advice, which served to put our minds at rest and made our stay very enjoyable. The site was beautifully maintained and the facilities were spotlessly clean. Can't wait to go back for a longer visit.

Very good site

My partner, myself and dog stayed at this site for 2 nights from 17 july to 19th July as we had just purchased a new caravan and wanted to try it out, The site was lovely and well kept and the wardens were fine and very friendly. We were expecting a lot of road noise after reading previous reviews but we found that the roadworks tended to stop at 12pm and the only noise was the occasional vehicle on the main road, if people do not like road noise then they should not stay at sites near main roads. The only inconvenience we experienced was the closure of the road junction but the diversion was not too bad and was probably better than trying to turn right across a busy road while towing a caravan. We will certainly stay at this site again for longer time, very nice site.

More..... Noise....

Further to my earlier review: we've just noticed that the the road this excellent site is on - it's junction with the A66 will be closed on 18th July for 2 weeks (yellow warning notices erected today). According to similar notices this also applies to the two following junctions going West on the A66. There is obviously more road reconstruction work to be done .... Noise day AND night ???  Such road closures require a road closure permit. So this info has been public (local) knowledge for a couple of weeks and effected stakeholders have a say. Come on CC management: do some corporate negotiation. Not to halt the works but to get the best protection for members holiday breaks and inform us accordingly.

Noise....

This is an excellent site, for more than just an overnight. The wardens (& relief wardens) are great. The aspect, view & access to Dales etc are superb. The facilities are excellent & superbly kept. Even the regular, previously reviewed, road noise is almost negligible - not least at night (we were pitched at the bottom of the site). However, we were / are extremely proturbed by the total lack of advanced information on the part of the Caravan Club regarding noise overnight from the A66 major road reconstruction just over the hedge at the top of the site. For several nights a road plane grinded from about 11pm to 3/4am. As you would realise this kept us awake. The grinding vibrated thro the ground and was made worse by jack hammering on some nights. We understand the need for the works to be done and that such is out of the hands of the CC. Surely the CC should have been involved in local discussions about the logistics of such work and passed such info to users with the option to relocate. Business would not be lost as we would have gone to another CC site. We trust this raises awareness of the effects of external works for the future at this site & others and that CC management find ways to be involved in local logistical planning as well as inform members due to stay on an effected site.
