Another brilliant stay.

Arrived on site to be met by beautiful flower display, pity the greeting from the staff member wasnt as nice, either she was neither having a bad day or, not happy in her work! We were told to drive round and find a pitch, after driving full circuit, I went into the office and asked were the pitches are that are free only to be told only 2 to choose from around the back, why couldnt she have said that on arrival.!!! Anyway the site is a credit to the wardens who work very hard. The weather was a bonus. Great meal at the Forge Valley Inn. Lovely walks to Forge Valley, great car museum at Thornton Dale.

Worth the Journey to get here

We found the roads in this area challenging. I remember saying a few years ago - "Never Again!" but that year we didn't visit this lovely site. We got a lovely welcome from the wardens. They keep the site beautifully and look after the birds just as well as their clients. The surrounding area is delightful as is most of Yorkshire. You can even visit Scarborough if that is what you came for. Pitches are spacious and flat and the toilet blocks clean and well kept.

The weather helped

We stayed here, in our motorhome, for a long weekend in June and thoroughly enjoyed it. The site is extremely well kept and managed. The facilities are superb as are the staff. All round an excellent site situated perfectly for trips coast or countryside. We even managed a visit to Ayton Castle. The bus service is regular and easy to access and the village pubs are excellent. The weather, for once, was beautiful. We will be back.

Gem! Thoroughly enjoyable time!

This large, quiet and very spacious site is extremely well located for visiting so many places. The warden team are to be commended on all their ongoing hard work to maintain this beautiful site, with so many trees, well kept hedges, shrubbery and extensive grass areas. Lovely walks. Good road network nearby to give easy access to so many places and attractions. It was our first visit, we will certainly be back and would recommend this site without hesitation. Large field for safely exercising the dogs off lead. Only comment is there are only a few showers cubicles, certainly far less than other sites we’ve enjoyed. When site is at full capacity, this is likely to be an issue. Site would be excellent for families, though equally good for all other age groups too. Thank you very much to the warden team and club for yet another thoroughly enjoyable break

Excellent all round!

Visited the site during May half term. Booked as it advertised playing field , table tennis etc & having 3 children aged 17, 14, 10 thought it looked good for them! This is by far the best site we have stayed on our pitch was a lovely spacious corner plot, bathrooms & grounds were spotless & the staff were all just lovely. My eldest daughter has autism & she was relaxed & felt safe all the time which means a lot to us. Its often difficult to find sites that cater to teenagers but this site was perfect. We hired table tennis sets at start of holiday & my arms still aching now as it became a daily family competition ha ha!! The new table tennis table is well worth the investment. Theres a lovely smaller park aswell, boules & a wooden assault course. Dog walks right onsite. Nice bike rides nearby. We even booked an extra night just didnt want to leave plus we had beautiful sunny weather. We will definitely be back I think this site will be a firm family favourite now!!!

Return Visit

We have just returned from out second visit to the site. We love the location, so close to Scarborough, but quiet and peaceful and couple of miles inland. It is also very handy for a trip onto the North Yorkshire Moors and a visit to the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway, or a trip to Flamborough Head. All facilities and the site as a whole are very well maintained by the wardens. We will be back next year.

May Day Break

This was my first visit to the Scarborough site and I was very impressed. The site is lovely, well laid out in an old quarry. It is clear that the wardens have placed a great deal of effort in creating a very welcoming environment including some lovely landscaping features. I found all the wardens to be superb, friendly and would always acknowledge you around the site. A pub is within walking distance, which serves food and offers a 10% food discount to members. The children's play area has recently had a new floor and the sports field contains a playroom and is great for playing ball games. I would suggest that the club should upgrade the site to include some super pitches and also refurbish the shower blocks to reduce the number of sunk cubicles and increase the number of showers.

Satisfactory Stay

Just spent a week at West Ayton C&MC the weather could have been a bit kinder but the site and the wardens were ok. Decided to call in at the new Cayton Village Club Site its quite large but seem a bit run down and is going to take a lot of money to get it up to c&mc standards. I must admit to be puzzled why our club is investing in another site which is only 10 mins max a car drive away ?? Apparently it is staying open till November then closing down till approx August if you want to stay you have to phone them direct .

Very Disappointing Site

I haven't been a CC member for long, just 3 seasons, but this is the worst site I've stayed at. My 2 biggest criticisms are: 1) It rained heavily and the pitch became waterlogged. Twice, after rain, there was 2 inches of standing water across 60% of the pitch. Ok, so rain isn't the site's fault, but they could / should have closed pitches that are prone to flooding. They closed the grass pitches, so why not the hard standing pitches prone to flooding? Simple, if you ask cynical old me... It was Easter Weekend and revenue is more important than satisfying members... 2) The play area was vandalised last season. LAST SEASON!!!! It hasn't been repaired and yet no mention of this on the site's page. This really annoyed us. So much for it being a family site. Other minor things that let the site down include there were only three cubicles per shower block (meaning queuing at busy times) and there were only curtains rather than a door on the sink cubicles. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this site, nor will I be going back. Obviously, YMMV, especially if you don't have children or you like the idea of an in-awning swimming pool. Just remember to bring your swimming trunks! PS I'd avoid most of the pitches at the lowest level of the site, these seemed to be the most waterlogged, however there were some pitches higher up the site I noticed also had very poor drainage...

Spacious site with good facilities

Stayed here over a very wet, windy and unseasonably cold Easter weekend. 2nd visit to the site as find it very convenient for Scarborough and local visitor attractions. Good local pubs, Spar and petrol station too. The site is big but the pitches are large and the 2 toilet blocks perfectly decent so it doesnt feel crowded. Although the weather was horrible we found plenty to do in the local area, our 9 year old really enjoyed the pool with flumes in Bridlington and the amusements in Scarborough. The slightly aged looking Hollywood cinema was perfect on a wet day and Eden Camp really interesting for all of us. Only negative was our pitch (93) which got surprisingly waterlogged for hard standing compared with other pitches. Didn't bother us but would have been an issue for people who have lots of stuff in their awning. Would stay here again
