Clean and tidy site

First visit to Strathclyde and it won't be the last. Facilities are immaculate and wardens very friendly and helpful. Only downside is the noise from the motorway, but temper that with the convenient position and it becomes less intrusive. Toby restaurant about 7 mins walk away for brekkie or dinner. Short drive into Bellshill and there is a park and ride train service straight into Glasgow Central Station. Lots of other amenities within easy reach. Well worth a visit!

Very Convenient

We store our van at this site therefore only took us 10 mins to set up on pitch to meet friends up from beyond the wall  It's a lovely well kept site very handy for all the main roads ...and there is the problem ..not helped by the amount of trees that have been chopped to accommodate the new road system ..there is a constant noise in the background ...but once the new trees have been planted oit should improve It is very tidy and well kept and the loch and country park right there with a carvery Toby pub within 5 min walk  All in all a very good site for stop overs etc

Close to M74 and convenient for Glasgow

A good location, close to the motorway. Well laid out, amenity blocks well designed and immaculate. Warden helpful and friendly. Excellent accessible dog walk, but hope it doesn't get muddy. Good children's play area. Close to the motorway so plenty of traffic noise throughout the night; perhaps acoustic barriers including trees will help in future.

A cold windy January

We had planned to arrive Saturday, but with a Met Office warning in place could not travel till Sunday. Warm welcome on arrival and pitched up in the dark as the we had had to keep travel speed down because of wind. Temperature outside 1°C but inside quickly up to 20°c thanks to Alde central heating but did it rock - the winds increased and bounced us around all night. Monday morning we looked out to get our first view of an immaculate site and we found the central toilet/shower block just perfect. After a day in Glasgow we walked down to the Alona Glasshouse restaurant where we had a first class meal. Tuesday was a trip to Silverburn for a birthday lunch with a quieter evening takeway. With another Met Office warning in place for snow and wind we hitched up on Wednesday in freezing conditions with inclement sleet and got away just after 10am heading across to the east coast before heading south to minimise the weather risk. Will we go back - absolutely but at a warmer time of year. There is a constant low level noise from the nearby M74 and A725 but nothing disruptive. A second visit

We visited Scotland again this New Year to spend it with our son who lives in Glasgow. Last year the site was suffering from heavy rain and the drains couldn't cope. This year no such problems. The wardens were brilliant even clearing the rubbish and checking the blocks on their days off.  The facilities are first class and the nearby Loch Is an excellent 5 mile walk. If there is a downside the traffic noise seemed louder this year. We wonder if this is caused by the road alterations and tree clearances between the site and the dual Carraigeway. However after the walking we didn't lose any sleep. Another discovery on this visit was the Toby Carvery situated about 500 yards from the site entrance. Reasonably priced food and no washing up.  We hope to visit this site again when it's warm to do some more walking in the area. Roll on the summer.

2014/2015 NY visit.

We arrived on 29th Dec in a temperature of -3 deg C and having been rear-ended by a lorry on the M6 2 hours into the 5.5 Hour journey. This was our 3rd visit here, note that we first visited on the opening day and received a glass of champagne and a slice or two of cake. This visit we were welcomed by Mike & Fran who also invited all visitors on New Years Eve to reception for a glass of wine and a mince pie. Whilst Mike & Fran are only there until March I must say they were friendly accommodating, and helpful. The site is ideal as a stop over on your way north or south, but is also good for visiting Glasgow(where I was born) and Edinburgh. We can fully recommend this site to all, and there are excellent dog walks in the country park.

Happy New Year Camping

We arrived after a 10 hour journey from Weston-super-Mare on a freezing Monday night armed with loads of old towels to lag our fresh water tank. I managed to trap my finger between the tank and the van but it wasn't until I found the nail had turned blue overnight that I realized it should have hurt but it was so cold I didn't feel a thing! The site was just as gleamingly clean and fresh as it was last time we visited, just after it opened.  The welcome was warm a friendly and the wardens even invited us to drinks on New Year's Eve. Brilliant location virtually straight onto the M74, the only drawback being the traffic noise but when you live close to a main road like we do it's not really a problem and you soon get used to it. Fantastic for families with the Strathclylde country park and a Toby Carvery right next door. Glasgow in about 15 minutes and  thanks to the new M74 going straight through to the west you can get to Loch Lomond in about 50 minutes. In the other direction we reached Edinburgh in about 50 minutes too.  Thoroughly recommended!

Nice but noisy

Nice to find somewhere open all year especially over the festive season. Excellent well maintained site with very friendly wardens. Very easy access, just off the motorway. Unfortunately that's the problem.  The traffic noise was incessant.
