Stayed here for one night on way up to highlands, the site is well laid out, very clean and organized with great facilities, showers etc spotless and great walks from the site. The road noise though is dreadful and carries on all through the night with traffic, emergency services sirens and boy racers (who sounded as though they were racing up the feed road for the site) so didn't get a good nights sleep at all - far from it.
Its a shame because if the road noise wasn't there it would be a great site.
Great stopover, beautiful site!
We found this site last minute and chose a serviced pitch. It was a clean and immaculate site. Wardens were very friendly and helpful.
Lots of space, very nice bathrooms. Easy access by car to Glasgow with parking, city bus tour a great day out. Must see includes the Kelvingrove Museum. Loved the loch nearby.
Very pleasant site!
Another of our favourite sites. Lovely well kept site, spotless facilities. Good dog walks round the loch.
Always a lovely welcome from the wardens.
Why
On our third visit to this wonderful site in the last two months we were surprised to find when the site was full and busy one of the toilet blocks was closed up for the winter. This policy would question why the need for two toilet blocks or why reduce facilities when then site is full of caravans, motor homes and tents?
If the block was closed for the winter then why leave the internal lights on if no one can get into the building?
We have never found any faults with this site, apart from our observations above, and will continue to use this site. We find if we sail on the morning or afternoon sailing we can drive to the site to start our holiday in a relaxed state.
lovely spot
this was the first time we had stopped here and I don't think it will be the last, the staff are so friendly and helpful and the site is spotless the only down side is the noise from the motorway, but hey ho we knew that when we booked it having read the reviews.
its a lovely walk around the Loch and the park and the fun fair / amusement park is a massive bonus if you have kids our grand kids would love it.
the bus stops are a way off so ended up getting a taxi to the train station, we ended up on an empty train station has there were and still are on strike every Sunday so we found ourselves walking down the road and catching a bus into Glasgow so beware of that issue at the present time.
Clean, friendly, great location
We initially only stayed 1 night on our way up to Scottish Highlands, but ended up spending another 2 nights on the way down as we loved this site so much.
The site seemed to be great sun trap and we enjoyed that we could see our children scooting around making friends for almost the whole site.
Staff where friendly and everywhere was clean as we now expect from all Caravan Club sites. Some beautiful flowers at the front was lovely to see.
Nice cycle around the Strathclyde Loch and 2 nice parks for the kids. We also popped into the arcades.
Yes it can be a little noisy in the nights as quite close to main road, but this never bothered us.

Motorway noise
The site is very well kept, facilities are spotless. There is constant background noise from the motorway and in the evening there is extra noise from cars which seem to be being raced along the road though the country park which adjoins the site. The only place you can walk to easily to from the site is to Strathclyde Country Park. The park was horrible - full of litter, not just recently dropped but long standing bottles, cans etc, in all the shrubbery and woods. The park is bordered by the motorway and is noisy. To get anywhere on foot beyond the Country Park entails a 30 minute walk across the motorways via the footbridges. It is a bit like being parked up in a clean motorway services area. We would not return.
Happy camper
Used this site as a stopover on way south and must say was more than impressed with facilities. An absolute cracking site. I had a full serviced pitch with water, grey waste disposal and tv point though I didn't use the tv point. There was a chemical waste point close by but no too close and a recycling point there as well all with about 10 metres from pitch. Very comfortable, only wish I could have stayed longer. Whilst I didn't venture far I know the area a bit and there is quite a lot to do roundabout either using your own vehicle, public transport or there are lots of cycling opportunities as well. There is a constant noise from motorway but you do get used to it and would like to come back sometime and spend a bit more time there. Not often you get a site that ticks all the boxes.
Bit noisy, - good stopover.
Well equipped and maintained site. Helpful staff. Lot of traffic noise. Nice walking in the country park. Excellent stopover going north or south to/from Scotland, and easily accessible from the motorway network.
Great Base for Exploring
Stayed here 14 nights and then 4 nights and managed to get constant sunshine.
Staff were friendly as were all fellow motorhomers and caravanners. Also showed us flexibility on both dates to extend stay.
Only downside was small - wee playpark closed but was for essential maintenance. Covid restrictions were necessary but great with visiting now for grandkids and family.
Cleaning times in facilities clearly visible and always somewhere open.
Quiet and serene while we were there. Great for dog lovers and plenty useful information.
We chose this site to get to know our motorhome and it's a great base for exploration. Sadly the park is only accessible from the busy roundabout because the Motherwell entrance is blocked off. That also means you might need to take your motorhome with you because public transport is non-existent for miles. This is however a Strathclyde Park issue and not the Campsite itself.
