a week in sandringham

Excellent stay on Sandringham camp site. Great for walks especially with dogs through woods and especially to Sandringham House. Situated well for site seeing especially for first timers like ourselves to Norfolk. Excellent that pizza van and chip van stopped at site so no cooking for several days. Toilet block in middle of site could do with refurb but was very clean and tidy. Tv reception poor but aerial cable available to buy on site. Wi-fi poor so found difficult to plan daily activities when searching for places to visit i:e English heritage and national trust. This aside we would highly recommend people to stay and will book again in future when visiting Norfolk again

Nice but ............

We've stayed at this site twice now and love the location and overall the site is very good. It is however rather "tired", we understand a large renovation that had been planned didn't go ahead over the winter/earlier this year. This probably explains why the facilities have quite a few bits and pieces that are "out of order". The renovation is urgently needed. The biggest issue however is that there is no WiFi across the site, the first time we stayed we signed up to the old system and it was passable, this has now been discontinued, which means that there is just the hot spot near reception. In this day and age this is not acceptable. 4G is practically non-existent, at times we struggled to even get a mobile phone signal. Some people of course may find this an advantage. Like others who have commented we loved the walks in the woods, as did our dog. However if you are prone to being bitten then take plenty of insect repellent with you and make sure you have it on when you walk in or near the woods in the late afternoon or evening. I also got badly bitten just standing chatting outside one of the shower blocks. I am sure we'll return to the site, but probably not until the refurbishment has happened, hopefully this will also mean that the pitches are more level as getting our caravan level was "interesting".

Comment from the Club:

We are so glad to read you loved the location and enjoyed Sandringham Club Campsite. With regards to the WiFi we will soon have the new WiFi set up on site and we have posters up to let members know the situation and that we have a hot spot available. We are sorry this impeded your enjoyment of the Campsite and hopefully we will have WiFi back up and running soon.

Slightly lower quality than other club campsites

Great location - easy to walk to Sandringham house and gardens. Nice cycling on the Norfolk cycle way up to Hunstanton. There are 2 toilet blocks but the cleaning times of each overlap so no availability at some times. Showers worked fine but not as nice as many club sites A couple of hoses on taps for filling up with water or waste disposal were leaking as didn’t fit well

Walkers and dog owners paradise

This is the first time we have stayed at this site but it will definitely not be the last. Nestled into the Sandringham Estate Woods, there are trails stretching for miles and they are shared with lots of wildlife. Our Labrador was in heaven and we walked different routes each day often ending up at the leisure area for a coffee and snack before returning to our motorhome to plan the next day's trail, on my mountain bike and by foot. Park the MH and have 3 or 4 days of woodland therapy shared with nature. The site is immaculate and well run and the only negative is the GSM phone reception which is ½ bar at best, meaning even wifi equipped outfits will struggle to get WiFi. Interestingly, the TV reception was OK and could be boosted using a cable to the power bollard. We will be booking again soon.

A fabulous stay

Welcomed outside on arrival. Checked against main list then allowed straight onto site to pitch . Took 2 minutes . No queuing to go into the office or leave the vehicle. Once pitched and sorted went to office to get gate card and pay balance of holiday. We love the site as numerous walks and cycle rides around it and well maintained and spotlessly clean. Wardens friendly and helpful. Pitches a good size and reasonably level. The location with woods all around and Sandringham a good walk away makes it very relaxing with lots to find to do . The Babingley Social Club is a short walk through the woods for some good very well priced evening drinks. Our second visit and going back in June.

Sandringham estate site- great for peace, quiet and back to nature

Well this site hits the mark on every visit, the location itself makes it special. The “rabbits busy at work signs” we are familiar with on most sites is really meaningful here- rabbits are everywhere! The deer stroll down the banks and squirrels abound. The highlight this trip was watching a barn owl silently glide through the trees. The walk to the Sandringham visitor centre and the house is a pleasant stroll of about 15-20 minutes. Miles of woodland walks. Pooh’s house is hidden in the wood! The site is well managed, clean and well ip to the high vlub standards. Looking forward to our next trip to Sandringham.

Lovely site

We had a week at this site in March and the site was relatively quiet, with plenty of pitches free. The North Norfolk coast is very nearby and well worth exploring, with RSPB Titchwell and Snettisham well worth a visit. Some lovely pubs in the area, and we can particularly recommend the Rose & Crown in Snettisham.

Lovely site

We visited this site last October and again last week. We think it is the perfect location for both the forest (walking and cycling) and great beaches too. We love to visit Wells next the sea, Holkham and Hunstanton (fantastic sunsets). The wardens are friendly and helpful. Our teabags had gone off so my hubby went to the shop to buy some unfortunately they had sold out so the lovely warden gave him some from her own supply. We will definitely be going back.

Frequent Visitor

This is one of our most visited club sites as its only 50 miles from our home and we can book at short notice particularly in the winter months by keeping an eye on the weather forecast .As cyclists the local roads are not heavily trafficked and there are lots of places to visit including The Sandringham Estate visitor centre . The club site is of the usual high standard and cannot really be criticised in any way . We look forward to many future visits

Wonderful wardens

Great site with wonderful wardens - who helped us out with an electrical problem in our Caravan despite it being out of hours. This was our third time at this site and we will be back soon. As with previous reviews, Wi-Fi is poor but an upgrade looks to be on the horizon.
