A star of a site!

This was our first visit to Sandringham, but will certainly not be our last. At first we were a little doubtful as to what we would find due to some rather strange negative reviews. However, I can confirm that this is a first class location with good facilities and a very friendly and helpful staff team. Located onnthe edge of the Sandringham estate there are literally miles of walks and cycle paths, nature trails, and of course Sandringham House itself to visit. You can also cycle off to Castle Rising or King’s Lynn, or take a bus from the site entrance to King’s Lynn or Hunstanton (if you like traditional sea side). A bonus is the fish and chip van that visits two nights, (excellent quality!) and wood fired pizza van. There are plans to close for refurbishment of facilities, which can only enhance the site more, but let’s hope not closed for too long!

A really lovely stay

We stayed at the Sandringham site for a short 3 night stay and it was great. The site has spacious pitches and extremely clean and tidy. Yes the facilities could and are being updated but they were very clean whatever time of day we went in. I want to shout out to the site wardens who were very helpful and gave a warm welcome as it was our first visit. We spoke to others on the site who go there 3 to 4 times a year so that shows how good it is and we will be back before it closes for refurbishment in January 23. I hope they don’t change it too much as it was a quiet haven.

Pleasant stay

I booked this site whilst i was actually on my way to it due to an issue with somewhere else I had booked, the warden I spoke to on the phone was so helpful and booked my a pitch whilst I trundled down the A1. On arrival, I was met by the same friendly, helpful chap, Mark, who helped me find two pitches together as I had friends on their way in their motorhome. The site is well kept and tidy, I can’t comment on the facilities as I prefer to use my own. Lots of walks in the surrounding woods, including a 10 minute walk to the social club. Dog owners need to be aware that dogs are not permitted in the club, but there is some seating outside by the very busy main road, a shame as we would have liked to have sat inside. I was pitched on the bottom right hand loop as all other areas were full. No phone signal in that area, but I had a signal in the top loop and by the barriers. The most annoying thing is the on-site wifi is rubbish, I paid for a year’s club wifi and have found, at several club sites, that the wifi doesn’t cover some pitch areas - I wonder if I can get a refund! Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Sandringham, and would particularly like to say how friendly and helpful all the wardens I met.

7 days in June

We previously stayed on this site many years ago when our children were little, we enjoyed it then and we enjoyed it all over again this year. I have read previous reviews about the facilities needing updating and can see that the club are in discussions re this. A lovely site to visit with plenty of woodland walks and wildlife. You can walk to Sandringham House from the site by using the well trodden path through the woodland and if you are a dog owner they will love the freedom to go exploring. The site is clearly sign posted from the main carriageway but one thing that really annoys me and I fully sympathise with the wardens are the outfits who feel its OK to turn up at the gate before 1pm then expect to be let in anyway ! All this does is spoil it for everyone else and cause problems for those leaving around 12 noon. If I know I will be early to ANY club site I stop for a cuppa and a butty then arrive AFTER 1pm feeling refreshed and all ready for the wrestling match with the awning.

Short stay but worth it

2 night stay and would happily return. No grumbles above those already mentioned (drainage point, limited water points other than the communal ones and the shower/loo blocks in need of updating/expansion) Have to say though, we pitched adjacent to the forest (pitch 50 something) which was stunning. Plenty big enough, only slightly sloping corrected by drive on levellers, and access to dog walking within 3m from Van door. Wildlife was plentiful, glimpsed deer at dusk when walking, and the local birdlife and rabbits make an interesting form of entertainment for our tethered pooch from early evening onwards.

Tired facilities but great location

We had a mixed experience of this site. Having travelled a long way we were In need of water. We used the nearest tap to our pitch and we’re told off as it was a caravan service point not a Motorhome service point. This seemed ridiculous to us and overly bureaucratic. However after a rocky start we settled in, our pitch drained well and was pretty level. The toilet facilities are limited and very old and we’re not brilliantly clean. A drive over waste is now really an essential. The walk to Sandringham through the woods is lovely as is the walk to the nearby social club who were very welcoming. Bus stop is close to the site to explore the north Norfolk coastline.

some improvements needed

Wardens very welcoming and nice site. Toilet bock needs badly updating and a drive over water waste. The mesh window screens full of fluff and cobwebs. Saw many elderly people struggling with the the waste iron cover and doubt if any women could lift it on her own. Very convenient for buses to Kingslyn or Hunstanton. There is a large sainsbury at the bus station at Kingslyn for motorhomers to top up shopping.

Early arrivals.

Just returned from a very enjoyable break - love this site and the walk through the woods to the Royal Babingley Social Club - like walking back in time. Note although cheap drinks its cash only. My only negative comment about the site is the apparent inconsistency with regards to arrival time. We arrived on Thursday , admittedly 12:40 hrs and we waited patiently on the site, along with three other units (not connected to each other). All parked up safely and out of the way. However, at 13:00hrs we were all quite sternly spoken to by the wardens about not arriving early "there are plenty of lay-bys we could have used' etc. etc. Felt like chastised school children. It then appeared to be a different approach on the Sunday when as we sat relaxing outside our van we noticed at least four units driving though the site looking for pitches and it was still not 13:00 hrs. That said we would certainly return here again and the ticking off didn't spoil anything for us.

Lovely Site

We had a fabulous fortnight stay. This is a lovely site, although some of the shower blocks are “a bit tired” and in need of updating. Our only real issue is that the club wifi (for which we paid) is absolutely atrocious. It’s almost impossible to connect during popular times and if you do, then the speed is awful.

A really first class site

We have stayed on many sites. On this trip we have stayed on many C and M sites for our 2 month holiday. Sandringham is in our opinion the best run, organised, tidy and friendly site. We all know some site wardens are a little grumpy. Not at Sandringham. They could not be more friendly and helpful. The site is spotless, the pitches big and facilities very easy to get to. We have two large dogs. The dog walking straight from the site is fantastic.
