Loved the site & location, only disappointment it closes 4th October! Just a 10 min walk to Thirsk with a great selection of shops bars a eateries. We will be back.
right in the town
this site is almost in the town centre with its host of shops , restaurants , pubs and places of interest and all on level ground . May we wish the Wardens Graeme and Linda a long and happy retirement when they leave at the end of the season.

Fond Farewell
Just spent another lovely weekend here - one of our favourite sites. Sure, facilities are dated but they are clean and warm. Only downside is that the lovely wardens Graeme and Linda are retiring at the season end - we send them our kindest wishes for a long, happy and healthy retirement and thank them for their wonderful hospitality over the years. The new wardens will have a hard act to follow!!

One night stay
As it was an en-route stopover it suited our purposes as the facilities on site were clean and Thirsk town centre is within easy walking distance, but the traffic is very busy. The female warden who greeted us was very friendly and helpful. As we have a large dog the site was a little too cramped for our liking. The site could be improved by (a) planting trees around the perimeter to help with filtering the traffic noise, (b) giving walking access to the centre of the racecourse, and (c) making the dog walking area more 'dog friendly' by planting some shrubs/bushes/trees.
tired
We have been at this site for twenty years---office and toilet block--untouched--showers terrible still
--the site is perfect for location--but not for quietness--the wardens have nothing to do--it shows--no recycling--just local authority bins--farmyard chemical disposal--no secuity--we love it

Every lidl helps.
We had 3 nights at this site last week in our caravan.
This is a no frills site, basic toilet block, no barrier at the entrance, all grass pitches.
The plus side, the site was clean and well kept by the friendly wardens, close to the town center, great location for north Yorkshire attractions, Lidl and Tesco on the door step, good off site dog walks. oh, and its cheap.
Having said that having Lidl on the door step is a plus point do not pitch close to their fence, they have deliveries upto 10 pm in the evening and on one occasion 5 am in the morning, VERY noisy.
We still had a good time, met some very nice people had reasonable weather and after complaining to the Lidl manager about the early delivery we got an apology and compensation, 2 small toys for our grandkids. Every Lidl helps.
A nice break
Spent two nights at Thirsk last week. Very handy site for Thirsk itself (5 minute walk from site) and other locations. Can recommend The Golden Fleece hotel for meals. Lovely steak and ale pie! Friendly wardens.
Didn't use the showers as prefer my own but they looked ok. Don't have children so cannot comment on kiddie friendliness! We will return again to this site.
Great First Time Visit
This was our first visit to this site (partly because we could never get on when trying to book in 2014). Anyway, got on for the August bank holiday and was not disappointed. Nice friendly, helpful wardens. Great site in an ideal location. Easy walking distance to shops and market square. Good for dogs and dog walking. Will definitely go back.

Love staying here!
Stayed here several times with my family, it's a 5 minute walk into Thirsk which is a lovely little town. Its got a great play park and the fishing in the river adjoining the park was great for the children.
