Very helpful and pleasant staff from booking, staying to departing. Good central location. Spacious pitches. Clean amenities. Nice and quiet and reasonably priced. Recommend thus site
In need of modernisation
The site is very dated, and the facilities are inadequate for the size of site. It was not unusual to queue for toilets. We were camped alongside the Newsham Road fence, and there was significant traffic noise along this road.
The wardens were very friendly and helpful, and kept the facilities spotlessly clean, but it cannot disguise the shortcomings of the site.
Lovely site, great wardens.
Just returned from another 4 pleasant nights at this site. It is an all grass site which we prefer at this time of year. It is a very friendly site and it is good to catch up with some familiar faces whom like us love this site.
It is perfectly located for a short walk into town with all of it's amenities. The locals are really pleasant as well. Some great hostelries, most dog friendly. If here on a Sunday, do try The Lord Nelson, just off the market place for sunday lunch, awesome, in our opinion the best in town.
There's loads to see in a short drive from Thirsk, really pretty scenery. Try a day trip into York, a regular bus service from the market place takes about an hour and is cheap.
The wardens are the best we have ever come across and it's a shame to be losing them at the end of the season due to retirement, we do wish them all our very best wishes for a very long and happy retirement and hope to see them enjoying themselves caravanning for a change instead of looking after us enjoying ourselves.
Looking forward to all our future visits to this site.
Lovely site, beautifully kept and handy for the town
This is a really lovely site and kept in immaculate condition by the wardens. All grassed site,in my opinion much better than the all to common hard standing!Easy walk into the lovely small town, try the Fish and Chip restaurant in the Market place,First class and at a good price.Plenty of other eating places and pubs for those who want them. Many good places of interest in the surrounding area and an easy drive to the coast.
Only real complaint while we were there were the`yapping`dogs of some of the over indulgent members. Why don`t they try and consider the other members?Overall an excellent, well run, site.
Brilliant stop off site but noisey
This is a good site for exploring North Yorkshire with helpful staff and adequate clean facilities. Proximity to the charming town of Thirsk could not be better - a short walk. However it is adjacent to the main road and quite noisy. The local lads seem obsessed with loud exhausts. Also the site has to be vacated on race days which is a pain. Would class it as a convenience site but not that relaxing. No seperate recycling bins, it all goes to general waste.
Fantastic site
A great site. Nice and level. Really good facilities. A short walk to the lovely town centre.

Ideally-situated close to town centre.
Thirsk is a lovely North Yorkshire market town, with plenty of places to eat and shop. The site is located within 5 minutes' walk of the town centre. Just outside the site is a Tesco superstore and a Lidl, so those who wish to eat in their Motorhomes/caravan can buy fresh food daily. We like to eat out and, having a dog, we were pleased to find several pubs permit dogs. We particularly liked the Golden Fleece, where staff are very friendly and the food is of good quality. The site facilities are dated, but spotlessly clean and the wardens are very friendly too. Recommended.
Dog Friendly Cafe
Stayed at Thirsk for four nights and unfortunately didn't have the best of weather, but luckily the ground remained firm. Graeme and Linda Burn are wonderful wardens. The weekend was hectic but they kept their sense of humour and still had time to chat and help out with the smallest of problems. The ablutions are dated but well maintained. Unfortunately the site is not quiet as the Fire and Ambulance Stations are close by. Would we use the site again - yes, if we were to travel that way again. Thirsk is just a five minute walk away and still has the air of a traditional market town with plenty of places to eat. If you have a dog(s) seek out Bliss Cafe; we were welcomed inside with our dog served first with a doggie sausage, freshly cooked. Whilst we were there five dogs were in situ, all very well behaved, ranging from a Shitsu to a Wolfhound. Oh yes, the food was excellent.
Great location
Just stayed here last weekend has always another good club site excellent location will visit again soon
