Gateway to the mountains

Stayed here for 2 weeks at start of June 2015. It is a lovely site with easy access into Interlaken and the mountain transport radiating from there. Owners are both helpful and knowledgeable. Visitors receive a card which gives access to the public transport in the immediate area (paid for by the local visitor tax). There is a huge amount to do here and the passes available for the trains, boats and cableways into the mountains are good value, a 10 day regional pass works out at CHF 38/day, without them the cost of indivual journeys can be prohibitive. There are views from the site to the big snowy peaks behind Grindlewald and also to Niesen on the other side of Lake Thun. Sanitary facilities are normally immaculate, but when we were there this was interrupted by a large group of far eastern visitors who stayed 3 nights and didn't seem to know how to use western facilities. The owners made effortd to control this, but weren't completely successful. The only other downside to the site is that there is a nearby shooting range which can create some noise for an hour or so in the early evenings or on weekend mornings. You won't normally be too affected by this as you'll want to be out enjoying the mountains which seem so much more accessible than anywhere else we've been.
