Lovely Site

Our first time with the caravan outside the UK and the first time abroad with Jem, our Border Collie. We loved this site. We'd booked 10 days and were made welcome by the lovely staff from the moment we arrived - being allowed to leave our van outside reception whilst we walked the site to choose our pitch. And what a pitch, huge and right next to a wood with fantastic walks for Jem. The facilities were perfect. Lovely swimming pool that provided welcome relief from the heatwave as France enjoyed its hottest ever day. And a restaurant that served wonderful food. At around 100 euros for the 4 of us, including 2 bottles of wine, it wasn't cheap but it was good value. The lovely lady on reception provided our croissants and baguettes every day. France wouldn't be France without fresh croissants for breakfast! She also phoned the local vets to book an appointment for Jem to have her mandatory medication before returning to the UK. Even the vet was lovely and put our minds at rest as first-time international pet travelers! The site was perfectly positioned to visit wonderful places in eastern Brittany. Every day was a new experience. Amazing fireworks and music arranged by the local town for the Summer Solstice. Apart from that the site was really peaceful. Lovely birdsong greeting us every morning and amazing stars and planets at night, We were here for the second half of June. Just before the French high season and school holidays. Not surprisingly during this period the majority of the caravaners were, like us, middle aged and a good number were British or from the Channel Islands, I'd expect that this mix would change in July and August. So. As you can guess. We liked it. So will you!

5 night stay September

Stayed here 5 nights at the start of September 2 adults no children. The campsite was easy to find, was well equipped and well placed for visiting the surrounding area. We visited St Malo, Dinan plus the emerald coast whilst there. Had a lovely meal at the on site restaurant and enjoyed a tasty take away pizza on another night. Staff helpful and friendly and the facilities were good and always kept nice and clean. All in all a very good site and worth a visit.

Fabulous

What a find, if only we could pick this site up and take it around France, it is more that a 5*. Arrival - a lovely welcome, we were able to park up and wander around and choose our pitch. There are well established pitches with lovely hedges (not a branch out of place), it looks like there is a new area with bushes just growing, this we think would make a nice family area as there was room for children to play. We chose an established pitch which was a good size and easy to pitch up. The showers/toilets are superb. There is even a dish washer! The pool area is lovely with a small new area for children (not on the photos). The bar area is nice and the Restaurant was fabulous, it was closed on a Wednesday which was a shame as it was our last night, but we managed 2 visits out of 5 nights. There is a canal just up from the site, great cycle tracks, lovely to find new villages, the reception can give you maps, but they are in French. If you pop into Combourg the Tourist info will print in English for you. We don't have children but there was a kids club, but it was not in your face unlike the last site we were on. There was also a pool Mokey class. All the staff are fabulous. Only one regret, if we had known how lovely this site was we would have left our other site earlier. We like to try different sites, but we will return.

Beautiful 5 star site

Regrettably we only stayed one night here. Can see why it's rated 5 star. Immaculate facilities. Lovely pool. Very pleasant woman on reception. The restaurant and menu looked very nice but unfortunately was closed on the night we were there (Wednesday). Great croissants. Only downside is that the pitches are pretty close together/tight but it didn't matter for our 1 night stay. Would definitely return if we are back in the area.

Probably the best

We were here at the beginning of September, and we think this is probably the best site we have ever been to in France. There was nothing to fault, and I hope we will return in the future.

Handy site for St Malo

Lovely site, pleasant welcome. You get to chose your own pitch. Our pitch was a good size. Toilets were clean and plenty hot water in the showers. Lovely pool in a beautiful courtyard seating. Very small shop in reception. You need to order bread, croissants etc by 6pm the day before. Lovely visits to the old town in St Malo, Mont St Michel and Dinan (market day is Thursday lovely restaurants in the old town) . An easy 40 minutes to the ferry.

Great location.

stayed for 8 nights, just before the school hols and it was really nice, clean, well laid out, large pitches and very multinational which we enjoyed. great for visiting St Michaels Mount and other local attractions, rent the bikes from reception and do the canal rides, we managed 30km with ease on the flat tracks, was really nice!,Combourg for restaurants, Dinan for restaurants and the old town etc. The site was getting busier with children which is why i have slightly down scored the quietness. We had the 10:30am return ferry from St Malo so was really nice to not have to rush and didn't leave till 8.30 to get to the port

Worth everyone of it's 5 stars

We stayed here for one night as it was close to St Malo for our Ferry the next morning. I wish we had could have stayed longer. Check-in was easy with a very helpful lady on reception who let us choose our own pitch. The pitches are large and access is easy. The facilities were spotless and I suspect the toilet block near to our pitch was very new. The plug hole in the sink did not have a plug or a sunken recess to receive a plug which confused me. The site was very well laid out with many facilities (bar, restaurant, games room, gym to name just a few). The area around the site is lovely with some very pleasant villages and towns to explore. It was very convenient for the ferry, with it only being a steady 40 minute journey away. We were able to get a reservation in the restaurant for the night we were there. The food was fantastic and the service was great, it was a lovely meal for the last night of our holiday. I will definitely be going back to this site, but next time for longer so that we can explore the local area.

Idyllic location within chateau grounds

We stayed 8 nights in June 2017 in low season. The grounds and facilities we found to deserve 5 stars ,even the toilets had toilet paper,(unusual for France) The staff were more than helpful, polite and informative. The pool, fitness room, restaurant are first class, although we felt the prices in the restaurant to be expensive( e17) for main course. Combourg is about 5 miles away and is a very attractive old town with good restaurants near a lake. We had a very enjoyable picnic on the banks of the canal about 200m from the site and enjoyed a walk along it and the shade it had to offer in high 30 C degrees. We were very lucky to arrive when one of the larger pitches was available as we have a twin axle Vanmaster but some can be difficult to access and vary greatly in size. Would we recommend this site? Most definitely....it was very busy for low season and we met some very lovely folk from Ireland, Scotland, England and Holland. New, more open pitches have been added this year and if you look further towards the back of the site, following the road past the toilet block, there are pitches situated in a more woodland setting. We hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did. Gareth and Steve
