Ideally located in a beautiful open country park, Ferry Meadows Club Campsite offers a perfect holiday destination for the whole family - there is an excellent play area on site, steam trains, a lake you can fish in, excellent cycle and walking trails, plus every kind of sporting facility you could think of. The country park boasts two golf courses and a super Watersports Centre for sailing and windsurfing.

If you're a bird watching enthusiast, the campsite offers great viewings from dedicated bird hides by the river, and if you're feeling energetic there are no less than 60 miles of cycleway, all off-road. Only three miles away is the city centre of Peterborough that will leave the family spoilt for choice with fun activities like ice or roller skating, an indoor pool, a bowling alley, a cinema and theatre, tennis, badminton and snooker. If shopping is your bag, you certainly won't be disappointed - the Ferry Meadows Club Campsite is conveniently close to a 6 acre shopping complex to keep you busy. Popular attractions include Springsfields Gardens and Sacrewell Farm and Country Centre with working mill, farm trails and animals.

From the North: Leave the A1 at the A47 junction, proceed to junction 15. At the roundabout take the third exit (signposted City Centre, Orton, A1260) and continue to junction 32, signposted Nene Park. At mini roundabout take right turn onto the A605. After 1 mile, take the third exit on the roundabout, (signposted Nene Park, Ferry Meadows). The site is on the left, 180 metres after level crossing. From South – Leave A1 at Junction 17 (signposted Peterborough Services), take slip road signposted East of England Showground, stay in the left lane. Turn right at the roundabout (A1139), then follow signposts to Orton Centre and Nene Park A605. Turn left into Ham Lane, then as above.

Ferry Meadows Club Campsite
Superb location. walkers paradise, cyclists dream.Bird watchers, Naturalists fill your boots. Thats without even getting in a car. Everything for the active family. The east side has a very good children's playground, The west side has nothing. As good as the location is and the opportunities available outside the gates, the site itself is boring and souless. Perhaps it's that there's too much outside the gates or its that its on two sites either site of the road. Maybe its a total lack of interest from the wardens beyond the most basic. Clip board 'welcome' is a bit ott outside high season. My husband,on arrival went to pay he felt a very unwelcoming vibe like he was too much trouble. I guess it's hard to get wardens but a bit of cheeriness goes a long way. Doesn't make us feel like rushing back. yet theres so much outside the camp gates. The Windmill at Orton Waterville does great food every day and walkable. The Woodman at Thorpe Wood is good, walkable through the country park itself and does food. There are numerous great country pubs in villages if you head out west, from the site towards Stamford and Oundle. Stamford worth a day especially Friday as its market day. But the site is just for pitching on and clearing off. A shame because it could be so nice

Management Change

Ferry Meadows Club Campsite
I have always loved the friendly welcome I have received at this establishment, I have been to other parks and the management have made it uncomfortable with petty rules and their attitude I have always felt that nothing was too much trouble and they really wanted to make your stay a special one, and they valued you being there. The arrival was much more matter-of-fact bordering on rude, to be honest, no friendly personal touch. it was as if they would have preferred you were not there; I have never had this in the past. From the first time I arrived about 2 years ago until Friday the 23 of August 2024, my arrival at Ferry Meadows was like meeting old friends, the welcome was always there, even on my first day. Really lovely people. The facilities were spotless as always and nothing else had changed would I go back again, I am unsure, as I certainly was not welcomed on my last arrival, I felt that I wanted to turn around and go home. To be honest IF it hadn't been my wife's birthday I would have left. I have always felt that as soon as I turned into Ferry Meadows I was home and at a special place, but I honestly felt disappointed and unwelcome. I have to say the old managers never made me feel unwelcome. Let's hope it was first night nerves and these quickly go or otherwise, my next visit will be my last one to Ferry Meadows.

Great site, rules not enforced spoils experience

Ferry Meadows Club Campsite
Second time here. First time during summer. Young family (2A2C1D). Great site when is calm and half-empty. Not so great when is packed. We pitched near to the play area, as we have kids. Big mistake. Our first visit was great, the second would have been better if there was enforcement of the site rules in general. Too many teenagers spoiling the experience for young kids, bullies literally terrorising other kids and dominating the playground (12, 14yo kids telling who can or cannot play, while the playground is suitable for 5yo max). We saw a (big) teenager pushing a 3-4yo boy out of the top of the climbing frame. Just ridiculous. This same kid one night was wearing a balaclava and carrying a bat. He destroyed one of the campsite flags from its pole. This has been reported to reception, who had a word with their parents, but nothing changed. Late on same night the "gang"was back at being silly. Groups of kids racing on bicycles where clearly stated was a passage area (bikes not allowed). Screaming and shouting until late night. In sum, when is off-season, is a great place. I won't be returning at busy periods.

Lovely stay at Ferry Meadows

Ferry Meadows Club Campsite
This really is a very nice site, great location, excellent facilities and particularly friendly and helpful staff. Unfortunately during our stay a family member was unwell and we had to call for an ambulance, all the staff on duty but particularly Richard and Lisa (who stayed with us throughout the entire episode) remained calm and their experience of dealing with difficult situations shone through, so a big thank you from us. This time we stayed on the West side which although busy remained quite, East side definitely better for families and children.

Our fourth very pleasant stay at Ferry Meadows

Ferry Meadows Club Campsite
This was our fourth visit to Ferry Meadows. We have stayed there in all seasons and found it to be a happy and friendly campsite whatever the time of year. On this particular visit we did notice that the staff were having some difficulties with an especially challenging visitor. They dealt with the situation admirablly and did not let the unpleasantness spoil our visit. I love the walks in Nene Park and seeing so many people using it to meet family members, to picnic and to play. The hides by the the lake are good places to spot many different types of birds. We cycled to the Cuckoo where we had a great Sunday Roast (good idea to book beforehand) we also cycled to the Windmill where we enjoyed a pint. Cycling in the Park is great fun and safe. We will definitely be back for more visits and look forward to our next one.
