Why stay here ...

With its rural setting in the beautiful Forêt de Brotonne, this site has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and caters well to families during high season. The Commare family and their staff are welcoming and helpful, and provide a range of amenities including swimming and splash pools, a playground and outdoor fitness equipment. Some accessible facilities are provided and pitches are spacious and private thanks to the tall hedges which separate them.

Bikes can be hired to explore the Natural Park in which the site is located, and Rouen is a 40-minute drive. Best known for its Gothic cathedral and picturesque streets with their half-timbered houses, it is a lovely place to spend the day. Just outside the historic village of Jumièges, there's an ancient abbey and some good shops and restaurants to stop at.

Close to Jumieges Abbey

La Forêt Jumièges
Stayed two single nights on way to & from Channel, as its easy driving distance, avoiding low emission zone at Rouen. The Abbey is the main attraction, an easy walk down the hill from the site. Pitches can be a bit uneven and cramped and although hedged around, this doesnt stop the feeling you are parked on top of your neighbours. Rather variable confusing layout of EHU and water taps, and facilities too few for the number of pitches when busy. Manouevring onto pitches can be tight. Nice surroundings with woodland and sports pitches. Access to the site via a drive alongside the Seine through Duclair or over the Pont de Brotonne is a lovely bonus. Handy supermarkets in Le Trait nearby, and good bread and croissants delivered on site. Jumieges Abbey and the church of St Wandrille to the north are well worth visiting.

Love it here

La Forêt Jumièges
We’ve stayed here twice now and both times just loved its simplicity. It’s nothing fancy, the showers and toilets are ok ish, but the local village offers the beautiful Abbey and a great restaurant for lunch Le Petit Flamme, just a 15 minute walk into the village on the right hand side. We used it twice as a 2 day stop over on the way home. Getting here from the south is a faff, best way is to head to Rouen and then set course for Duclair to ensure you stay the right side of Le Seine, avoid using it before you hit the ring road otherwise you may go off course. The small bar is great for meeting people and everyone is friendly. Lovely end to our holiday and then toll free scenic route to Calais.

OK

La Forêt Jumièges
Having read the reviews, we were expecting a bit more from this site, to be honest. On arrival we were told to make sure we kept the toilet block clean, which is a slightly odd thing to be instructed. Notices outside the toilet block stated that the block was cleaned 3 times a day - at 7am, 1.30pm and 10.15pm. Really don’t think this was the case as, on several occasions, toilet rolls had run out and the floors were dirty and slippy. Showers were also luke warm. The site itself is green, with lots of trees and pitches demarcated with hedges. This does make for some narrow pitches and manoeuvring around the site can be tight. We saw a few people having to shunt in tight spaces to avoid trees scraping their outfit. It was quite rainy during our stay and the site doesn’t drain that well. Lots of surface water sat on the pathways and pitches. The area is nice and the village of Jumièges is lovely. However, we probably wouldn’t stay here again, given the facilities and nature of the site.

quiet location

La Forêt Jumièges
very helpful and friendly reception, lots of info. good size pitches - 49. High hedges, great for privacy but isolating if you prefer a chat. Lovely and quiet, lots of trees and birdsong. easy to walk to village, very little there, couple of restaurants and a bar. great cycling along river using ferries which are free. Too far to cycle to Rouen, so caught the bus from next village, Apparently free on a Saturday. Did not use facilities but appeared clean and well maintained. small shop and pool

What a gem of a site!

La Forêt Jumièges
We have just enjoyed a peaceful stay at this lovely site. The pitches were spacious with privacy hedges separating all pitches from their neighbours. There are two facilities blocks, one of which is more modern than the other. Only the modern one was open during our stay and was spottlessly clean. The lady on reception could not have been more welcoming nor helpful. We had booked a restaurant before arriving, but on checking its location decided we wanted to cancel (too far to walk in inclement weather). She not only phoned to cancel the booking for us, but also recommended a more local alternative and persisted in securing a booking for us on a busy night. The restaurant, La Petit Flamme, is also highly recommended. There is an outdoor pool, which was not open during our stay and an indoor one, which we didn't try, athough it was open. The village itself is a short walk from the site and is very picturesque; a visit to the abbey ruins is recommended. We will certainly be back.
