Pitch in for Nature

You’ll be amazed by the variety of nature sitting right outside your door when you stay on our Club campsites – from birds to beautiful flowers, there’s plenty to excite the wildlife-lovers among you.

What’s the Pitch in for Nature project all about?

The Pitch in for Nature project is all about creating homely environments for different types of nature and wildlife on site. We're giving nature a home and making sure that all sorts of creatures can thrive on our Club campsites.

What are we doing on site?

We are increasing the biodivesity of our Club campsites by taking on the expert advice given by the RSPB, and have installed bat-boxes and created insect-hotels as well as planting beautiful flowers and protecting the abundance of wildlife. Here are just some examples:

• Cirencester Park Club Campsite have a 'wild campus' on-site which creates new and improves current habitats for a variety of rare and protected species. They have also taken action to reduce waste by upcycling unwanted or waste objects.
• Our Great Yarmouth Racecourse Club Campsite has a vibrant collection of poppies and a small area growing wild to encourage flowers and insects.
• We have red squirrels, deer and the likes of Great Spotted Woodpeckers and Treecreepers on site at Borrowdale Club Campsite, where there's also a bird house/feeder created from wood from the forest.
• Nunnykirk Club Campsite is home to a variety of wildlife and members have seen the likes of Pine Martens, deer and pheasants on site, alongside many species of bird.
• At Blackshaw Moor Club Campsite they've recently built a dovecote to sit alongside their bird houses and fantastic bug house.
• White Water Park Club Campsite in County Durham have added bird boxes and hope to attract blue tits, chaffinches and goldfinches to nest on the site.

How can you get involved?

There are a number of ways you can get involved with the Pitch in for Nature project.

• Share any photos you take of wildlife on site with our site staff, and use the hashtag #InspiringAdventures when sharing your photos on social media.
• Take part in the ‘Big Butterfly Count’ (July to mid August) helping Butterfly Conservation assess the health of our environment, plus save 50% on your first year of membership with Butterfly Conservation as a Club member.
• Sign up to Club Together, our online community, to take part in wildlife discussions. You can also post your stories about your close encounters with nature on our sites.
• Want a hands-on experience? RSPB run events throughout the UK including guided walks, wildlife watching, courses and workshops, hands-on activities and much more. Search for events near our Club campsites to take part.
