Great Stay

Lawn Farm
Our first visit to this CL for a fishing trip and a couple of days out. The fishing was great and my husband thoroughly enjoyed it. I think it's unfair reading previous reviews to say that the toilet near the tackle shop is part of the CL; predominantly it's for people fishing hence not on the CL itself. I'd say treat it as no toilet facilities and use your own. The field is large and you can pitch however suits you best which doesn't mean anyone is too close either as there's lots of room. With a water tap to each pitch this is a real bonus. My only criticism is the state of the toilet emptying facility which although separately housed away from the pitches (which is good) it is just an ordinary toilet and was a bit of a mess. It does the job but is very basic. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would go again as both the closeness to and the fishing ponds themselves is excellent.

A game of two halves

Lawn Farm
There were lots of positives to this site - it is in a nice enclosed fields with plenty of bird life, there are lakes to walk around in the evenings and it is ideally situated for visiting all the sites in the area. However, the toilet, which it has already been said is 'basic' is shared with all the people that were fishing (maybe 50 at one point) and as there is only the one it wasn't very pleasant. By far the worst thing about this site though is the traffic noise. Described as 'slight' by one reviewer, I would put it more akin to sleeping on the central reservation of the motorway. We didn't expected it to be totally quiet due to it's proximity to the road but it was so loud at times (wind dependent) that it kept us awake and woke us early.

Fishing At It's Best

Lawn Farm
We used this site as a two night stopover on the way to Harwich. It's location is just a few miles from the A14 in the village of Cambourne and it's very easy to find and entry is simple. The field is massive and totally flat with the pitches down one side along the tree line. Cambourne is nothing much other than a new housing estate but the cl is within very easy reach of Huntingdon, St Ives, St. Neots and Cambridge for days out. The biggest draw for this cl must be for the on site fishing. I'm no fisherman but the four large lakes are in a picturesque setting and well laid out. Judging by the number of fishermen the site has a large number of regulars. There is a very large on site fishing shop which has a massive stock. There is toilet next door which can be used by cl users. The very slight downside if some daytime road noise which can be heard from the cl field.

Peaceful stay

Lawn Farm
Basic but everything you need inc. ehu, water and chemical waste disposal. Quiet, only slight road noise. Plenty of wildfowl to see while strolling around the fishing lakes- ducks, moorhens, 2 herons and red kites. Nice site would stay again.

Good stopover

Lawn Farm
The fishery was easy to find, but ensure you follow the directions given, using the wider roads. The access lane was attractive and although narrow there was good visibility all along it. We drove straight to the camping field as it was signposted to the right, rather than going to the tackle shop first as advised, and parked up at an EHU and tap. Lovely and flat. Only one other van arrived after us so we had a huge field almost to ourselves. Paid cash at the tackle shop to friendly owner. The toilet is next to the shop which is a few minutes walk from the vans. We couldn't find the Elsan point, which is probably our fault for not asking, as a previous reviewer said it was good. It wasn't a problem as this was only an overnight stop from Bristol to Norfolk. We walked into Camborne hoping for a meal in a pub but we weren't impressed. Walked back to CL then out through the lane at the back of the fishery to Elsworth which had two better pubs and was a much more attractive place. The walk is probably not a good option in wet weather! We didn't notice any troubling road noise and slept well.
