Great for explorting southern Cornwall.

Stayed here for 5 nights in June. Was welcomed on arrival by Neil who explained about water taps (one for fresh and one for grey) and offered a choice of pitches. You do need to be careful and follow directions on website to the site as the turning is very tight if you come from the right and not the left. The lanes are very tight the other way as well. Even with our car it was easier to turn into the fishing lake carpark if we came from this direction. No toilet (this is just for the fishing lake), but not a issue for us as we have both toilet and shower in the van. We cycled to Zennor (Mermaid fame) to see the sunset on Neil's recommendation (the pub here looked good for food), visited Land's End, Mousehole, various NT sites (Treng Wainton Gardens, Levant Mines (book a tour), St Michael's Mount (park by the roadside for free then walk (15mins), again need to book a boat (additional charge if tide in) or walk across the causeway, Penfold Estate (nice walks/bike ride to the beach) and even managed a performance at the Minack Theatre. Lovely send off by Neil and his wife who personally came to say goodbye. The only thing I would add to the site is an information pack/booklets on attractions in the area as we had to google where to go.

Camping and Fishing… what’s not to love

Amalwhidden Farm
Lovely site just outside St Ives with fishing on a small site with toilet, water and waste. Neil the owner is lovely and helpful with the fishing, 2 lakes, 1 with carp to 14lb but an awful lot of fish and great for beginners. We can’t recommend this site enough if you want tranquility at a decent price… reasonable phone signal, not tried tv as it’s not something we consider really. Again, if your looking for somewhere with peace and quiet but plenty to do in the area, give Neil a call

Ideal quiet site very near St. Ives

Amalwhidden Farm
A lovely quiet, level and very well maintained site set in the countryside away from the busy traffic. Very welcoming hosts and very happy to help whenever required. We stayed in a motorhome for 7 nights without any need for levelling ramps, using a small car to get about. The site is perfect for our personal requirements and we had a great time, so will definitely return for a future visit! We had no real issues and only two minor matters which may be of benefit to visitors: Approach the site from the North. The entrance is set at an acute angle and will prevent any necessity for reversing. I couldn't get a TV signal at all on terrestrial (site is set in a low valley and the app shows TV signal is borderline) but that may be due to the omnidirectional Ariel on the roof) However, there is an unobstructed path for the Astra satellite.
