Mid week April break

A wonderful peaceful site, with good views all around. We bumped into Roger at the gate, who was friendly, helpful and explained fully the directions, pitches and the site in general. No problems at all on the site. Quite intersesting watching the fishers. The surrounding area, is great for day long bike rides, the Sandstone way goes past the entrance to the site and route 68 can be picked up a couple of miles away in the direction of Wooler. Generally the lanes all around that area are quiet. We would definitely stay here again.

What an idyllic location

It was so good we genuinely didn’t want to leave we were made so welcome by everyone. Our Pyrenean Mountain Dog absolutely adored being there. Its a magical place with smoke on the water and the misty mountains of the cheviots on the horizon. Animals/nature in abundance including horses, sheep, lambs, pigs and their piglets, deer, owls, ducks, not forgetting the fish. Rogers Bacon rolls and his Burgers were a daily treat. Already rebooked.

Stunning location

An amazingly beautiful location, friendly owners and staff! Fresh eggs from the reception and an excellent pub in the village (about half a mile away) that does excellent food. Water and electric on every pitch. Ideal for visiting the coast and inland. I recommend Etal it was great

Lovely Place

Outstanding peace and tranquility even if the weather is not good. Lots of wildlife and countryside around although you'll have to plan your own longer walks (just use an OS map). Also if you are remotely interested in fly fishing this place is a dream. Step out of the van and straight into one of the best venues in the North of England. Even if you've never fished before the foks there can teach you and lend you everything you need for a whole new experience. Just planning a return right now.

Mixed blessings

The site has the most incredible open views of the surrounding farm land and the hills beyond. We enjoyed our stay here and as we’ve visited the area many times we had no trouble driving to where we wanted to go. The reason I’ve not given it 5 stars for some areas is that there are no direct walking routes without having to drive, few public footpaths and those we found were inaccessible in places and the ease of access to the site as we went through the narrow entrance to the fishery instead of up the lane to the open gate. A sign with an arrow would be helpful as would labels on the bins. Great to have taps for each pitch. However, my main concern was the number of vehicles driving through the field at top speed in front of the caravans. There is also lot of farm traffic going up the lane behind the caravans. Quiet at night apart from some work in the fields but it was harvest time when we visited.
