A peaceful little CL

Shipley Smallburns Farm
We stayed here for 4 nights during a bank holiday weekend. The site was very peaceful, with good views and easy access. The whole field is flat, the grass is cut and the waste area clean and well maintained. There is one drinking water tap which is fine for a small site like this. We appreciated the peace and quiet. Booking was no hassle at all - emailed to check availability and had a response within an hour so all sorted (and on a very short notice!). When we arrived, there is a number to call and we were told to just set up wherever we fancied. Would definitely recommend!

A lttle gem

Shipley Smallburns Farm
This is a lovely CL in a very quiet rural location. Plenty of space; with reasonably easy access. Waste management clean and easy. Lovely views in all directions of hills and fields with sheep/cattle. Owners unobtrusive (you just ring on arrival - sign at bins), but helpful if needed. Most places to visit are within 20 minutes; with other days out a little further afield. Plenty to do to fill a week or so. The comment about dog walking is valid; but we walked down the farm driveway which the OS map indicated as a public footpath - met Mr. Coxon, who told us to walk through the field at the back of the farm and up the hill. Whilst not a 'path', and having sheep, it was was very pleasant for the dogs. Would definitely return. Only one small suggestion for improvement: the directions state turn R at a give way sign - the give way sign is not applicable to the main road, but to the road you are entering. A CL sign at the turning from the main road would be helpful.

Lovely little site

Shipley Smallburns Farm
Just spent 4 nights on this peaceful litte CL. Beautiful views, dark skies and the sound of curlews calling. The site is very relaxed and the owner very friendly and chatty when you see him. I gave him a quick ring when I arrived and was told to pitch up in a free spot. The site is distant enough from the road that there is no traffic noise. You do hear his dogs and sheep, but it is a farm, afterall. It wasn't intrusive. The facilities are basic but well presented. The only downside for me was that the local public footpaths were not well used so quite overgrown. This limited my dog walking to the lanes, as I've a dodgy knee and a tiny and slightly wimpy JRT!

Beautiful site

Shipley Smallburns Farm
We are just having our last (extra) night at this beautiful CL. We originally booked for 7 nights, but loved it that much that we decided to stay for an extra night. Would have stayed even longer if it wasn't for work/school. It is one of the best sites we have stayed on in the 10 years we have been caravanning. It is a spacious, well maintained site with lots of room even when full. The grass is in fantastic condition and well mowed and looked after. The views are spectacular, whichever way you look. It is so peaceful listening to the birds and animals in the nearby fields. There are lots of walks around the site, ideal if you have a dog too. We will definitely be back soon, thank you!

Peaceful with extensive views

Shipley Smallburns Farm
Lovely peaceful, well maintained site with extensive views. You can pitch anywhere and it’s very spacious which is what we love about CLs. We saw a couple of stunning sunsets down over the site entrance. As in a previous review, the photos on the website don’t do it enough justice. Mr Coxon was pleasant and helpful and even showed us some newborn lambs. We didn’t follow the caravan directions through Alnwick due to road closures and came off the A1 at Denwick, straight across the B1340 and right at a junction with the old stables tearoom, Turned left onto Smiley Lane after the Hobberlaw plants, At the end that lane turned right onto the B6346 and then follow the club directions or satnav, and the site is over a T-junction. It’s around 20 minute drive into Alnwick and the famous Barter second hand bookshop, which is well worth a visit just to experience the old railway station. They have a huge selection of just about any book. It was a Thursday and the market had craft stalls. Lots of cafés and shops in the town centre. There is the also the castle which was used in the making of Harry Potter. We only stayed a couple of nights but would definitely return and recommend.
