Why stay here ...

The CL is set in the grounds of our home, Higher Sea House. Pitches are at the far end of the property, quite level and overlook our potager, garden and orchard, whilst enjoying the open aspect of the countryside views. The thatched 17/18 century house is a Grade 11 listed, former farmhouse enjoying easy access off the road through a wide drive-way and courtyard to the CL. Pitches are suitable for both caravans and motorhomes. We recycle on site. Only green additives allowed in the Chemical Closet point please, as this goes into a septic tank. Gas BBQs are allowed. The site is surrounded by countryside, but only just over a mile from Ilminster and all its facilities.

This small market town, not only has its famous Minster and Arts Centre but also a range of independent specialist shops, pubs and restaurants with Perry’s Cider Mills close by. There is a Tesco and Co-op in the town. Fishing, golfing, walking and cycling can easily be accessed from Ilminster. Route 33 of the National Cycling Network, Sustrans, is just 0.5 miles from the CL. Additionally, this route is pleasant for dog walking or strolling into Donyatt and The George Inn. If you prefer to use public transport then Route 30 bus can take you to Axminster/Chard/Taunton.

Higher Sea House is an ideal location for a short or longer break, with easy access to all major routes. There are numerous places of interest to suit all tastes such as The Blackdown Hills, Neroche Forest, Barrington Court, Montacute House and of course the Jurassic Coast and Lyme Regis.

Myles and Myra look forward to welcoming you to our CL at Higher Sea House.

Absolute Gem

Higher Sea House
What an absolute gem. We visit Ilminster at least once a year to catch up with an elderly relative. Previously we have stayed at the Ilminster Club site which is 6.5 miles away from Ilminster just off a busy road. However we came across Higher Sea House by chance and what a find staying for three nights. Just 1 mile from Ilminster with a lovely flat off road walk along an old railway line, so won't be staying at the Ilminster Club site again. The owners Myles and Myra are a lovely couple who could not do enough for us. The site itself is set around an orchard along with four hens. We bought a dozen free range eggs, which you could not get much fresher. Myra even knew which of her hens had laid each egg from the colour of the shell. The electric is metred and worked out at just under £2.50 per day which is excellent value, as we use an air fryer, microwave along with the usual TV, fridge and toaster etc. The Ilminster club site for the same days was £32.30 per night so a saving of £10 each night. Most definitely be returning again.

Simply The Best ?

Higher Sea House
Higher Sea House was our first venture to a CL...ever! We are a long motorhome & car transporter trailer set-up at over 12.5M overall and had restricted ourselves for 12 years to larger Club sites and were a bit "edgy" about a grass site. Why, oh why? Myles and Myra are most welcoming by nature, were completely unfazed by it all and found us a spot to squirrel the trailer away. We can only say that if you are looking to pitch up in the area, we believe you will find it harder to beat this delightful site with great owners and complete with 4 very friendly, very free range chickens. Thank you Guys, we will doubtless see you again. Peter & Viv

This was a great half way stop over for us on our way to Cornwall. Easy access and a nice welcome from owners. No hard standing pitches but the grass was still quite firm for our stay. The pitches were in a line over fairly uneven ground as far as I could see and had the site been full I feel it would have been a bit cramped! For us though being the only ones there it was good. Thought being charged an extra £2 a night for the car that we towed was a bit much though! Moterhomer.

Welcoming and friendly

Higher Sea House
A lovely clean and pretty site . Pitched in the orchard , chickens strolling around. A very friendly and warm welcome nothing was too much trouble for Miles or Mira . We could choose which pitch we wanted blocks were available to help with levelling . Miles was very helpful on walks or cycle paths in the area even to giving us a little map to help. There was no rushing us off the site on the day of departure. Everything was so relaxing. We have come home and are now looking to see what date we can do a return visit

A lovely place to relax

Higher Sea House
Moira and Miles were excellent hosts to us throughout our six nights stay. The site was so pretty with a small vegetable garden and an orchard. There were hens that didn’t bother us at all and were a treat to watch. We were pleased to get good TV reception and the local Barn Owl visited now and again. The site is within walking distance of Ilminster which is a lovely town with boutique shops and a Minster. Would recommend.
