Why stay here ...

The CL is set in the grounds of our home, Higher Sea House. Pitches are at the far end of the property, quite level and overlook our potager, garden and orchard, whilst enjoying the open aspect of the countryside views. The thatched 17/18 century house is a Grade 11 listed, former farmhouse enjoying easy access off the road through a wide drive-way and courtyard to the CL. Pitches are suitable for both caravans and motorhomes. We recycle on site. Only green additives allowed in the Chemical Closet point please, as this goes into a septic tank. Gas BBQs are allowed. The site is surrounded by countryside, but only just over a mile from Ilminster and all its facilities.

This small market town, not only has its famous Minster and Arts Centre but also a range of independent specialist shops, pubs and restaurants with Perry’s Cider Mills close by. There is a Tesco and Co-op in the town. Fishing, golfing, walking and cycling can easily be accessed from Ilminster. Route 33 of the National Cycling Network, Sustrans, is just 0.5 miles from the CL. Additionally, this route is pleasant for dog walking or strolling into Donyatt and The George Inn. If you prefer to use public transport then Route 30 bus can take you to Axminster/Chard/Taunton.

Higher Sea House is an ideal location for a short or longer break, with easy access to all major routes. There are numerous places of interest to suit all tastes such as The Blackdown Hills, Neroche Forest, Barrington Court, Montacute House and of course the Jurassic Coast and Lyme Regis.

Myles and Myra look forward to welcoming you to our CL at Higher Sea House.

A lovely place to relax

Higher Sea House
Moira and Miles were excellent hosts to us throughout our six nights stay. The site was so pretty with a small vegetable garden and an orchard. There were hens that didn’t bother us at all and were a treat to watch. We were pleased to get good TV reception and the local Barn Owl visited now and again. The site is within walking distance of Ilminster which is a lovely town with boutique shops and a Minster. Would recommend.

Lovely quaint and welcoming site.

Higher Sea House
We enjoyed a one night stop at this site. Myra was very welcoming and helpful when we arrived telling us which were the hardest grassed areas to park as it had been raining. She also provided us with walking instructions to the disused railway track. This was an easy flat walk into Ilminster avoiding the road. You can walk or cycle to Chard in the other direction. A very quiet site with free range chickens wandering around (FR eggs available to buy too). Lovely, tidy well kept grounds in an orchard setting. We will definitely return. Thank you Myra and Myles for a lovely stay.

Lovely few days in Somerset

Higher Sea House
Lovely warm welcome from very helpful owners of this well maintained CAMC CL. Spacious pitches enjoying nice views over farmland. 1 mile walk along road, mostly with pavement, to Ilminster, where we had a lovely lunch & cappuccino at The Gallery Cafe. We chose this CL as it’s close to Southwest Motorhomes where we are taking our van for it’s habitation service. Would use again.

A bit different

Higher Sea House
Stayed here at the end of August breaking our journey from Plymouth back to London. A warm welcome from the host who introduced us into the orchard field. Plenty of peace and quiet to be had. Great site for visiting Montacute House and surrounding countryside. Thank you (belatedly).

Great location & friendly owners - a lovely CL

Higher Sea House
Stayed here for 7 nights, Ilminster and surrounding villages are lovely to explore. Myles and Myra are great hosts and the setting in their orchard garden with 5 free range chickens is a delight. An easy less than 30 minute tow from J25 on the M5 on a clear run. Also in easy reach of the nearby Devon and Dorset coast. Recommend nearby Perry's Cider (5 mins down the road) and for a day out book early for Donkey Walking Adventures at Beaminster, a truly unique and memorable experience.
