Why stay here ...

The CL is set in the grounds of our home, Higher Sea House. Pitches are at the far end of the property, quite level and overlook our potager, garden and orchard, whilst enjoying the open aspect of the countryside views. The thatched 17/18 century house is a Grade 11 listed, former farmhouse enjoying easy access off the road through a wide drive-way and courtyard to the CL. Pitches are suitable for both caravans and motorhomes. We recycle on site. Only green additives allowed in the Chemical Closet point please, as this goes into a septic tank. Gas BBQs are allowed. The site is surrounded by countryside, but only just over a mile from Ilminster and all its facilities.

This small market town, not only has its famous Minster and Arts Centre but also a range of independent specialist shops, pubs and restaurants with Perry’s Cider Mills close by. There is a Tesco and Co-op in the town. Fishing, golfing, walking and cycling can easily be accessed from Ilminster. Route 33 of the National Cycling Network, Sustrans, is just 0.5 miles from the CL. Additionally, this route is pleasant for dog walking or strolling into Donyatt and The George Inn. If you prefer to use public transport then Route 30 bus can take you to Axminster/Chard/Taunton.

Higher Sea House is an ideal location for a short or longer break, with easy access to all major routes. There are numerous places of interest to suit all tastes such as The Blackdown Hills, Neroche Forest, Barrington Court, Montacute House and of course the Jurassic Coast and Lyme Regis.

Myles and Myra look forward to welcoming you to our CL at Higher Sea House.

Quiet CL with easy access to cycle route

A quiet CL in a small field behind the owner's house. Some road noise, but not enough to be a nuisance. Simple set up with drinking water taps either side of entrance into field so easy fill up for MH. Well organised recycling and chemical waste, although you do need eco chemical for your toilet as they have a septic tank. Fairly level throughout, but we used ramps to level off for shower drainage etc. We really enjoyed our stay there - there's excellent access to the SUSTRANS national cycle network which is a 5 minute ride from the site. This led to a pleasant traffic free cycle to pretty Ilminster a few miles away, with lots of independent shops, cafes, and good tourist information in the Arts Centre there. Alternatively you can use this quiet cycle route for an evening walk to nearby Donyatt, about 20 minutes away, with its welcoming pub with good pub grub.

Family Celebration

Chose this CL to be close to a family celebration. The site is very spacious, not all flat, but set amongst fruit trees with views over adjoining farmland. Lovely situation and all facilities provided work very well. Would certainly stay again at Higher Sea House on our next family visit.

Lovely CL

Have just returned from a few days at this lovely CL. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Free range chickens roam around, and you can buy their eggs, and other produce, grown in the owners' vegetable garden. Miles explained local walks we could go on, including the disused railway line which is a stone's throw away. Would recommend a visit to Perry's Cider Farm in Dowlish Wake which is very close by with a good café and farm shop. One can watch the cider being made and sample the varieties for sale. Ilminster and Crewkerne have a good variety of individual shops. We liked it so much we stayed an extra night.

staying on the lawn

Recently returned after a few days stay, the site was close to Forde Abbey, we wanted to attend their open day Fair. The owners were very helpful, and we had the furthest pitch in which suited us fine. Great place to walk the dog from and also for cycling. We will certainly be returning to this site.
