Return visit in the summer (last time winter)

All hardstanding so ideal for winter visits, however they are a bit tight without a caravan mover. Also driving in and out is on the tight side. There is so much to see in the Alnwick area that we came back to see more. I would agree with the review about the annoying lip on the waste water disposal point. Perhaps a ramp could be built up to it? Nice to see it in the summer and go for some walks.

Ideal location, great for dogs

We arrived to find that there was only one pitch available, luckily for us, it was the best pitch! As we were staying for 10 days, we wanted to put the full size awning up, which still left a grassy area to sit out, with the car parked at the other side of the caravan. Lovely dog walks from site and the walk into Alnwick is about 35 minutes at a steady pace. Ideal location to get to the numerous beautiful (dog friendly) beaches and castles/gardens. The owners have 9 working dogs, which can be a bit scary if you meet them unexpectedly, but I was assured that they were noisy, but wouldn't bother me...which appeared to be true! Lots of visitors come for one or two nights, which is fine. All in all, a lovely site which added to our fabulous holiday!

Great for dogs

Visited mid May 2017 Slight problem turning into CL site, but managed the turn after a few attempts Owner said Hello and Goodbye to my husband but not me? Site level and each pitch is on hardstanding and a patch of grass next to it but you have to park your car in front of your van Few horses around Industrial Park about 100 yards away , lots of truck movement but only heard outside the van B and B in farmhouse excellent! Friendly staff Great public footpath at entrance to site through pine forest with wild garlic growing and babbling brook Nearest ATM at petrol station minutes away from site on road to Alnwick, also a small shop Elsewhere you can get money from Sainsburys Fab beaches , visited Warkworth , public toilets and free car park, also visited Alnmouth , no toilets and fee to park , but toilets in Alnmouth, Boulmer , no facilities, Dunstanburgh , no facilities, Alnwick castle and gardens not dog friendly Lovely boat trip around the farne Islands to see birds and seals Visited Craster , quaint harbour town , had drink in pub gardens Trip to Heatherslaw railway at Etal , dog friendly Trip to Northumberlandia to see earth sculpture , free car park , cafe and toilets not open Busy site with lots of one night stays , people en route to Scotland since the site is close to A! but hardly any road noise Recommended CL very clean but no recycling facilitities as advertised on CC website , just normal rubbish wheelie bin , slightly annoying lip on waste water area which meant you had to lift the waste hog over the lip which was challenging!

Good early year cl

Ideal spot for visiting East Northumberland. V convenient for A1. Hard standing a necessary facility early in the year. Yes it is within walking distance of Alnwick centre, but it is about 1.75 miles. Co-op shop at filling station 0.4 miles, large Sainsburys 0.65 miles. Previous reviewer noted 'some road noise' - yes, it could be heard occasionally from the awning, but we didn't hear it from inside the van. Occasional daytime sounds from the nearby Enterprise Park and farmers' birdscarers - you are in the country after all! Less than 5 mins walk to the ( relatively new) Aln Valley Railway Trust base (ignore the signs from the road - it's just off the end of the lane to the CL!) CL reasonably well sheltered. Ideal for en-route overnighting, peaceful for longer stays.

Nice well maintained CL on farm

Nice compact no frills CL with all hard standing pitches. Convenient stop off for Scotland, which is why we used it for only 1 night, but this would provide a good base for a longer holiday in Northumberland. Access from the A1 is easy and less than a mile. Alnwick is a 5 minute drive away and has all the facilities of a market town. Did hear some road noise from the A1 in the morning but it was barely noticeable. All in all a good CL, which we would use again should we be in the area.

Excellent stop off en route to Holy Island

Booked in for just the one night to break the journey up to Holy Island. Conveniently situated just off the A1 and 10 minutes bike ride from Alnwick. Extremely peaceful location with plenty of space and very wide gates. Would happily have stayed longer and will be back.

Great CL site

Stayed here for 2 nights in late June-Northumberland was having a long awaited spell of good weather! Site was well kept, disposal point and recycling easily accessible. Electric point might need a longer lead depending on where you go. Sainsbury's/Argos/Homebase are within a 10 min walk but Alnwick centre more like 30 mins min. There are local buses from outside Sainsbury's but the timetable needs some interpreting! So not the site to stay at if a local boozer is your thing, but excellent for peace and quiet. Brilliant woods adjacent to site for dog walking, other footpaths too-however do not try the mapped "alternative" walk back to the site from the Alnmouth road as this involved us negotiating neck high nettles and brambles before the path disappeared completely and we had to negotiate gates, fences, steep gullies and barbed wire!! A very helpful sports Physiotherapist has his small clinic on the farm and he helpfully fitted my husband into his busy schedule. End result is his painful shoulder is a lot better, appropriate exercises have been suggested and problem hopefully resolved!

Horsey horsey

Stayed here for 5 nights. Easy to get to just off the A1 but very quiet, all you can hear is the dawn chorus. Nice owners, came across to say hello then we're there if needed. Our only concern was the chemical disposal point which is a hole in a concerted surround. My husband found it quite difficult bending over to rinse it out.

Great Town and Country CL

Just spent another great weekend at this CL.  Really get the best of both worlds here, peaceful and surrounded by countryside but close enough to walk or cycle into Alnwick.  All hard standings which are spacious even for our large van, nice and flat with neatly kept grass areas in between.  Access to the old Alnwick railway line is at the bottom of the lane which is a fantastic walk initially along the disused railway then pick up the footpath which follows the River Aln into Lesbury then onto Alnmouth beyond.  Traffic free all the way to Lesbury, just lovely countryside.  A warm welcome from the owners, Dave will make sure you are settled in answer any questions and will personally thank you for your custom.  We will definitely be back.

Little Gem

The site is close to A1 but there is no traffic noise.  The owners are very helpful and unobtrusive.  There are 5 hard standing pitches which are quite large. The waste disposal and bins are located a short distance away and are enclosed.  The drinking water tap is located against a stone wall.  There is a public footpath next to the Cl which is an excellent dog walk. You can walk into Alnwick and there is a pub and garage nearby .
