Hidden Gem

This site is a great find.  You wouldn't believe you were only a couple of minutes from the A1.  It was nice and peaceful and the surroundings were very nice. The pitches are all level hardstanding with grass next to them.  There are some nice walks from the site and shops are close by.  The owners are very friendly and there's a B&B if you're travelling with non-caravanners.

Birdsong

A great CL with level hard standings and friendly owners. It is ideally situated just off the A1 and I stayed 4 nights visiting the Farne islands, Druridge bay nature reserves and went walking from Alwinton in the National Park, all within easy reach. Access was no problem for my motorhome. The surroundings are very restful with the song of the birds being ka notable feature. I needed some LPG and whilst the Co-op station did have a pump it was was out of order, other sites did not sell it any more and the nearest one that did is at Powburn on the A697. I do find the internet sites detailing LPG stations unreliable.

Very happy

Extremely happy with the CL and found the owner to be a lovely man, who leaves you to get on with it, and is happy to chat when about. The electricity is now up to 10amps and the ground surface of stone chippings did not bother my car's clutch at all. It takes 30 mins to walk into the marketplace in the centre of Alnwick. Agree with all the other positive statements. Can't wait to return.

A Super Site

We really enjoyed our stay on this CL for many reasons. Ideally located for A1 with no traffic noise, quiet and peaceful, excellent amenities being well layed out with plenty of room for our average sized motor home, hardstanding with grassed surrounds, handy for coast and country, excellent hospitality from owner plus the best eggs ever in the whole of the UK !!! Thank you.

Lovely Surrounding Area

The CL site is ideally based just off the A1. However, the approach is not quite what we expected as located behind the Industrial Estate. The site is fairly compact and there is insufficient space to park the car next to the caravan but there is an area allocated for cars. We had the pitch next to the entrance/exit gate which attracted the sun all day. The electricity supply is only 6 amps and we experienced limitations. Unfortunately, the surface is uneven and appeared to be deep filled with something similar to road hoggin. This caused alot of pressure on the car's clutch. The water, chemical point and refuse bin was clearly identified and easily accessible. The owner approached us on our arrival when unhitching the caravan in the rain. He also spoke to us on a couple of occasions during our four night stay to check everything was ok. The site is within walking distance of Alnwick. There is a petrol station and Co-op just off the A1 at the roundabout and also a Sainsburys so not to far too walk for any last minute supplies. There is a pub called The Hogs Head Inn within close promixity which can be seen from the A1. It is open for breakfast if you fancy a treat and there is a good menu choice for evening meals, particularly for those who are on a gluten and wheat free diet. Perhaps alittle on the expensive side but certainly nice to have the option of a drink and evening meal within walking distance. The question is, would we return? Well, it is perfectly based to explore the beautiful surrounding area by car and there are a couple of walks along the disused railway track to Lesbury/Alnmouth. We haven't yet visited the CL site nearby so perhaps we will try that next time to compare.

Just perfect

Lovely place to stay, dog walks on the door step and Alnwick a short drive away. Would highly recommend.
