Lovely Site, Great Owners

Peaceful site, owners very friendly, went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Colin the site owner offered to take us to local shops, pubs etc. Site well maintained, very clean, grass and hard standings available. Bus stops at site entrance to take you into Newquay, St. Austell etc. Couldn't ask any more from a CL. Will definitely return if in the area.

Great CL

A lovely peaceful CL. We were welcomed with a cup of tea on arrival, the owners were very friendly. Ample woodland walks for dogs on site. Grass mown to perfection - no loose cuttings. The site has very easy access, we have a large twin axle caravan. Lovely walking from site. Good Wi-fi and TV reception.

excellent site

We have just spent a week on this lovely site. We have a large Frankia motorhome and tow a Micra car....as you can imagine on some sites this can pose a problem with accessibility but this was not the case on this site, it was very easy, lovely hardstanding and plenty of room for the motorhome and car. The owners made us feel very welcome, The site is very well maintained and a big boost was the excellent wifi and tv reception. We have stayed on a few sites in Cornwall but will definitely be back to this one, it is a very good base to visit Cornwall and then return to a lovely peaceful site.

Frenton Farm

We've been caravanning for over 40 years and this is one of the best CL's visited. Spacious well kept, lawn like grass, ease of access and delightful owners who could not be more helpful. Very good TV reception and wifi is excellent. Colin and his wife May, do everything to make one's visit enjoyable. Our dog is well provided for with a good dedicated dog walk adjacent to the pitching site. We visit Cornwall twice a year to visit relatives and for the last 5 years have stayed on this site, it has always been a pleasure and we will be visiting again.

Great site

We stayed a week here. The site is very well organised and the owners couldn’t be more helpful. The weather was very wet but still no issues getting on and off the site.

Very Peaceful site

We had a marvellous one night stop here in November 2017. It was the first time out in our Autotrail. No issues at all with access into the site. The owners put us on the drive as they were working on the handstanding pitches. Perfect siting for us with electrical hook up supplied. Owners were extremely welcoming and very knowledge. Had a good catch up over a cup of tea and they have lots of information on the area as well as good welcome advice on motorhoming. Dogs are well catered for with two dog walks provided. The site is isolated, so a bit of a trek to any local shops. This would be OK in the summer but not so helpful during dark winter evenings. However there are a number of restaurants that will deliver takeaway to the site – the owners have all the information in their reception. TV reception very good and wifi signal good. There is a bus stop outside. The village playground and tennis courts are just outside the site. The only downside which did not affect us is the fact that there are no toilets or showers on site. The information states that there are toilets at the tennis courts – however these are now derelict. It did not affect us personally but just thought we would clarify this. We are looking forward to going back in the future.

Not Happy

We visited this site, having looked at the reviews on the club website. We were told to pitch on the field on the left when going up the drive, This in the secondary field as the other one was full. This was extremely tight to get into. Contrary to what we were told the field did not drain of water, and as we had continuous rain for 10 days the field became waterlogged. Otherwise it would have been a reasonable field to pitch on. On leaving the site we were told to use the bottom exit, which is down a slope onto a flat driveway. We suspected grounding and we certainly did. We had to reverse, unhitch and move the caravan on its own. We have a single axle Lunar Clubman SB(not the longest caravan you could have by any means) We then hitched up to drive away. If we had continued down the slope towing the caravan(as the site owner had suggested)we would have ripped the bottom out of the back of the caravan. The site owner then said " I've had twin axles down here before without any problems" . We shall not be visiting again.

Response from the Club:

Many thanks for your review. The CL owner has been in touch as they want to make sure everyone has a wonderful time on their site and are sorry to read you had some concerns which they would like to address. There was a pitch available on the other field but as you wanted to pitch with your friend the CL owner had the 2 pitches together on the top of the left hand side of the site which is the best drained area. Unfortunately the weather had been very wet with high levels of rain which has caused issues on many sites. We are sorry this impeded your enjoyment of the site. The CL owner was sorry that you had concerns about grounding. Because of the rain the CL owner advised you to use the exit at the bottom of the site which is all downhill to a level tarmac road. Up to the last season the sloping exit was the only exit from the CL and in close on 40 years of running the CL nobody has ever grounded their van before so we were sorry to hear you experienced issues. The CL owner is always more than happy to offer their help and assistance. We hope this helps address your concerns and the CL owners are sorry that you won't be returning to them in the future.

Proper little gem

We stayed here for one night just before the August bank holiday. We had stopped at a CL the previous night on our way down to Cornwall. The difference between the two was very noticeable. The welcome and assistance by Colin and May is second to none. Colin cannot do enough to help you get set up and aware of the local surroundings, he even offers to drop you off and pick you up from local takeaways, pubs, restaurants etc. The lawns are flat and well kept with a number of hard standing pitches if that's what you want. All in all one of the best overnight stops we have had in a long time. Well done Colin and May !

Recent stay

We have just returned from a very pleasant stay at Frenton Farm, Colin and May were most helpful and welcoming. The site was very clean with well kept lawns, with all facilities within easy reach also included was free Wifi. With easy access to the coast, Eden Project, Gardens of Heligan and National Trust properties this site is an ideal base for touring, highly recommended. Adrian and Brenda Fuller
