First class CL

Just spent a long weekend on this CL. The owner is very pleasant and helpful even handing out a map of the estate and Ross on Wye. The 500 acre estate is given over to fruit growing and users of the CL are invited to wander at will. There are some lakes and tons of wildlife. No farm animals make the walking very dog friendly. Was very quiet (apart from slight road noise from the dual carriageway) when we were there but would probably be busier (with tractors and workers) during the picking season as all the fruit is picked by hand. The site is slightly sloping (levelling blocks recommended). Next to the CL is a large hard-standing area for campers. Free WIFI works very well. Access road from the dual carriageway is not as narrow as the impression you get from Google maps. Slightly isolated but nice local walks. All in all a lovely site which we will return to.

Excellent site

Stayed six nights in kids' Easter holiday 2016 and can't rate it highly enough. Beautiful surroundings with walks around the farm/orchards and the lake on site. Owner is clearly environmentally conscious with lots of bug farms, beehives and birdfeeders/boxes. Very friendly and helpful, with a map of the area on arrival and fresh eggs available nearby. Ross is 3.3 miles away for supplies. Only a few hundred metres from A40 and easy access with a long outfit. Only small negative is that there's no toilet so you have to use your own, but that's fine with us. Heartily recommended!

Superb CL

We have just spent a great week at this wonderful CL. Plenty of room for the caravan, endless walking on site through fruit orchards - courtesy of the owners - our dogs loved it. Clean tidy site with great views. Andrew - the proprietor is one of life's true gentlemen, nothing is too much trouble, he even supplies a map showing the borders of his land and another one of the supermarkets in Ross-on-Wye. Off site there is superb walking, Symonds Yat, Monmouth, Forest of Dean, Tintern Abbey. As mentioned in previous reviews the site is quite close to the A40 but road noise is minimal - and didn't bother us (and we live in open countryside at home). As CL's go this is up there with the very best and is on our calendar for another visit soon. Thanks to all at Hollymount for a wonderful, restful week.

What friendly neighbours!

Upon arrival we could not find Andrew the owner, when inquiring at adjoining properties I was greeted with nothing but helpful friendly locals who helped me find Andrew. As expected he was helpful, approachable and made us both feel very welcome. In the summer the actual CL will be absolutely idyllic, it was still too wet for us to use and so we pitched on the adjacent hardstanding. It may be important to you that Wi-Fi is free, strong signal and is accessed with the minimum of fuss. The farm and surrounding area is very beautiful. You may enjoy a walk into Ross on Wye, simply cross the road and walk along the banks of the Wye for about one and a half miles. We also visited Hay on Wye and Hereford both worthy of your time. Overall a lovely place to stay, book with confidence!

Excellent site

Very pretty sheltered site with extremely friendly, helpful owner, who provides maps of his fruit farm and Ross on Wye. Easy access from the A40 with a small amount of road noise, but the situation of the site more than makes up for this. The site gives access to the owners fruit farm and he is happy for you to roam at will which is brilliant for kids and dogs. Very well placed for exploring the area. Recommend Clearwell Caves and Goodrich Castle for both kids and adults. It is a short drive to the local supermarkets with the aid of the helpful map provided by the owner. Thoroughly recommend this site.

We'll be back

A super orchard site with plenty of elbow room and very pleasant owner who is happy for you to roam his many acres. Plenty to do in the vicinity - we encountered our first wild boars in the Forest of Dean! We had a very pleasant stay and our only concern was the A40 just a few hundred yards away - minimal noise, but the only way to the site with a caravan in tow, having to cross a very busy section to access the site and run the gauntlet to rejoin as there is no slip road. Despite this we hope to make a return visit.

A perfect CL

We always wanted to visit this part of England and we chose this CL on the strength of the reviews already posted. We were not disappointed. It's always a perfect start when the Satnav delivers you right to the entrance using the postcode! The site itself is beautifully laid out and—and apart from a barely audible amount of road noise from the nearby A40—very peaceful. Mr Jackson visited us very quickly (he is up and down the track most of the day) and told us where the local supermarkets were (with maps), good local pubs that welcomed dogs (I recommend the Red Lion) and local beauty spots well worth a visit. He gives you free access to walk your dogs through his extensive fruit orchards and lakes—and the views are fantastic We stayed for 12 nights but wished we could have stayed longer. This CL will be my first port of call when he come back for a revisit to this most beautiful part of England.

Beautiful place

Take no notice of the ramblings of  the 'Disappointed' review. There is no pleasing some people. This site and the welcome are second to none. Surrounded by hills and trees it is set in a beautiful place. The site is easy to get in, well set out and well maintained. Couldn't be better.
